  1. Mmm... well it’s listed in the post above the one you just made, along with all the others. How’d ya miss that one Melvin? Doh! ;-)
  2. Well, I have had a Helix floor unit since they first came on the market and it lives in my studio hooked up to An iMac 27” Retina 5k with 32Gb of memory and never experienced anything like the latency you are describing. From what you are describing, I would think that you may be inadvertently using software monitoring - that way lays madness. There is another thread on here that I spotted recently where someone mentioned a similar thing with a HX Stomp - here’s the link, check it out. EDIT I found this, you might like to check that your Logic is set like this, but have your Helix LT as the input/output device. That way you should experience zero latency because you are monitoring you LT directly. Note: your Studio Monitors will need to be hooked up to your Helix or use phones in the Helix box. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. I have to say that I was initially very impressed by the integrated installation procedure in HX Edit 2.9. Although having said that I also, along with many others, did have problems with later trying to move to the v2.91 “hot fix” patch. My guess was that the server could have been under pressure from the traffic of lots of users around the globe all trying to do the same thing. Anyhow, when I checked the Line 6 Updater application, it appears that was updated along with HX Edit and so I simply downloaded the small patch file and ran that locally. No problem, even though Line 6 say it is no longer supported, it is probably running behind the HX Edit fascia. It seems that many others have also done the same thing either because of having a bad internet connection or being in a similar situation to you. I know that every update, has brought floods of “update bricked my Helix” posts, but maybe that by trying to make the process simpler, it has effectively alienated many users. To avoid this, the option for running the updates offline should definitely be included. Let’s see how it develops.
  4. Hi ferzad, You could run through the Factory reset procedures to get to the stage where you can try again: Here we go - one more time:- Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. You could try "Safe Boot Mode" using FS 6 & 12 Then download and run the hot fix 2.91 update once more using Line 6 Updater:
  5. As previously mentioned, it may not be totally a question of DSP usage, but that some things may infringe intellectual copyright, among other issues. Polyphonic pitch shifting is the big thing that many users have been shouting for and is rumoured to by in the pipeline. Many are hoping that it will make an appearance in v3.0. I can live with out it, but hey if it’s in there for free...thank you Line 6. Hope this helps/makes sense
  6. Hi Henry, What you experienced is perfectly normal behaviour, as the update keeps all your previous presets, but will wipe your Globals. Prior to updating to 2.91 you would have been advised to make a backup of the things on your HX Stomp. After updating it is advisable to restore your backup to the hardware, this will ensure that things like your “global” setting remain as they were. As there are no acknowledged changes to the factory presets, but if you wish to check that you have the option to load the factory presets from HX Edit, personally, I wouldn’t bother and just go ahead enjoying your new toy. Hope this helps/makes sense Stay safe
  7. Hi Raj, I would suggest that you ensure that nothing is blocking your connection to the internet (firewall, Little Snitch etc.) while you start up your HX Edit 2.9. I’m not sure but I think that when HX Edit launches that it is “phoning home” to connect to the Marketplace. I also advise that you install the “Hot Fix” update to v2.91. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Ah, OK, inside the Helix. Well, in another thread on here, someone asked why all the reverbs and lot of the delays are Line 6 originals. I explained that including things similar to those created by Eventide and Strymon are very processor intensive. In fact so intensive that they use the equivalent of one of the DSPs in your Helix. With the Walrus Audio Mako units, even the name is a reference to the Sharc DSP which they use to create this complex FX box. That’s why Helix has Send/Return loops to patch in any processor heavy FX you like. It has been discussed at length on various threads. You could try messing with the Helix Ducking Delay to emulate that soft attack you seek.
  9. Alexander, This does exact effect you are seeking - check it out, buy one and put it in the send/return loop - plus, it's stereo!
  10. I'm gonna guess that you are the same "underwood" posting a very similar thing on Reddit, along with. "Never had any gear that had a so crappy update process. Btw. the included USB cable is trash. Using a short high quality USB cable can save you some trouble!" Well, what you're saying about the Factory Reset is no surprise, it's not a secret backdoor. There are a whole bunch of reset procedures that can be done during the power up sequence for all the HX family of products. I won't bother posting the entire list again as it gets tedious. In the bottom left corner of this page is a question mark in a circle, if you click on it, under the FAQ section you can find a list of some of the hardware reset options. Here is a link to a place you can find all of the reset options - they are located under the menu item named "Tips": https://helixhelp.com Oh, yeah, the USB cable thing has been a much discussed thing for a long time - see this post from way back in late 2006. Furthermore, if you trawl through the posts on here you will find that - yes, some people do have issues with updating firmware - although many times it is a simple fact of human error. You know the sort of thing, "Manuals, I don't need no ****ing manual" or even "Installation notes?... Nah! TLDR". Well you consider how many of these units have been sold, it seems most manage the updates with little or no help. Stay safe indoors.
  11. I’m not quite sure what you are implying by saying “why?” It”s fairly obvious that as Line 6 made this thing so, they made the reverbs that are included in the hardware. Unless, of course, you are making a reference to why none are modelled on those very famous effects units made by a certain brand made by Damage Control under the name Strymon. It has been mentioned many times before that those guys who founded that company had previously worked for Alesis and Line 6, and have created some really interesting reverb/delay FX boxes. Furthermore, it has also been explained that the reason those reverbs are so spectacular, is because the processing power required to produce those lush sparkling sounds is approximately the same as one of the DSPs in the Helix. Rather than halve the power of your Helix machine, Line 6 have utilised the Send/Return option so the you are able to add whatever fancy delay/reverb box that fits your particular need. It is possible to create some pretty slick ambient sounds by stacking and ganging various onboard FX if you play around with what is already there (which is essentially what a Big Sky is doing). You have lots of options there and if not spend some money on expanding your sound with Strymon or Eventide. Oh, yeah, out in the real world lots of ambient stuff is done by using more than one of those Eventide H9 boxes because a single unit is not capable of doing more than one thing at once - then it becomes really expensive. Hope that helps/makes sense.
  12. It’s not a question of the difference that justifies their inclusion in the Helix family of products. IIRC lots of users were bemoaning the fact that Helix didn’t include many of the FX they had enjoyed in the HD and M Series of products. It seems, rather than alienate some users, they ported all the old effects across. One particular old favourite of mine is the Dimension D model. Plus, strangely enough, some people actually preferred some of the old models. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Firmware 2.91 should fix that volume issue. Launch HX Edit 2.9 with your hardware connected and it should detect the update as being available and ask if you want to install. Make sure that you have made a backup of all your stuff, then when you have successfully updated to 2.91. reload your backup files to your unit. I would advise that you read these release notes first, for your own benefit:
  14. Sorry for the delayed response, but it’s the way of the world right now. Good to know you managed to get your LT fixed and updated. I would have made exactly the same suggestion of reverting to an earlier version and try again. It really is amazing how many people post on here saying that the firmware has “bricked” their Helix. Erm... no! These things a built like tanks and all that’s happening is software is getting screwed up. Unless you have smoke coming out of the hardware it should be salvageable. Yay! Have fun with the toy and stay safe!
  15. I would try buttons 6 & 12 while turning on the power to your LT. This should boot into “Safe Mode” and hopefully let you reconnect to perform the update once more. Make sure that you are not using a USB hub to connect (some PC towers have ports on the front that work like a hub) and turn off or disconnect anything else that may interfere with the link. Launch HX Edit 2.9 and it should automatically detect your hardware and inform you that a software update is available (firmware 2.91). Select the option to update and let HX Edit do its stuff. If all goes well, your Helix LT will reboot and start to rebuild the presets. When that is finished load your previous backup of your LT’s presets, Globals and IRs then restart your hardware once more and let it do the rebuild once more, then it should be done. Good luck
  16. The solution is simple - you should stop posting to this thread because every time you do it gets bumped to the top once more. Also, if this thread had been locked, I would not have been able to respond to a fellow user who had a genuine problem with the update. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
  17. Hi, To confirm what “HonestOpinion” says in his post above, the rebuild routine occurs as part of the update process and shouldn’t be a cause for concern. Also, it has been noticed that should you load preset that may have been download from CustomTone, or possibly older ones that you made prior to the new Firmware, the “rebuilding preset” procedure will happen again. This is simply to ensure that all your presets are optimised to the latest operating system in all the HX products. If the rebuild routine persists on every boot up, it may indicate the presence of one or more “corrupted” presets. I’m not sure how presets become corrupted, as it is something I have never experienced with any of mine, I can only suggest that something got garbled during a save process. Good luck - and now your have updated there is no need to venture outside - stay safe.
  18. O.K. As the thread was started by Digital Igloo maybe he could change the name of the thread to include 2.91. Oops! He has already started another thread named : Helix/HX 2.91 Hotfix Update. Easy enough to find. You could well be correct about the meter thing being a random event and the tap tempo thing didn’t seem to be an issue for many and it was fixed very quickly.
  19. Hmm... and the reason why, please? Oh, yeah, I left my Helix floor running for about six or seven hours today and never encountered any of the issues that you had reported regarding the new compressor and output meters failing after several hours. Sorry, once more, like the tap tempo thing, I have to state that mine is working perfectly - as expected. Stay safe.

    2.91?

That is absolute genius - how the hell did you come up with that? It must have taken seconds, but it was, as before, vague. It still doesn’t explain anything I didn’t already know, other than why you started a thread named “2.91?” as the “hot fix” patch was already available and online to download. That means it was an event that happened in the past, it was not forthcoming. A little bit like you are not forthcoming. If you were having issues with the firmware there were other threads already open so why start this one? If it was an attempt to be humorous, I must have missed that. I sincerely hope a sensible answer will be “forthcoming”, but I won’t hold my breath!
  21. I imagine they don't think it necessary as Native already has visual displays of input and output levels built in. If it's running hot it shows up red on the Native VU meters, although that doesn't show how much the signal is being squeezed on the compressors.
  22. This keeps coming up over and over - what you have encountered is an over zealous GateKeeper in the Apple OS. Follow the override instructions, supplied by "phil_m" in his post above, and everything should be fine. Have fun.
  23. Hi, You would have had a much speedier reply to your issue if you had posted int the thread at the top of this forum specifically for questions about firmware v2.9x and Bug Reports. O.K. the first thing to ask is, - did you follow the installation procedure exactly as described in the release notes for v.2.91? Updating Helix/HX Firmware to 2.91 Helix Floor, Helix Rack, Helix LT, HX Effects, HX Stomp STEP 1—Updating HX Edit to 2.90 (assuming you haven't done this already) Log onto line6.com, download, and install HX Edit 2.90: macOS: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9678 Windows 7/8/10: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9677 STEP 2—Updating Helix/HX Firmware to 2.91 If you have Helix Rack/Control, turn off Helix Control. Also, shut down all Line 6 software or any programs that use audio, like DAWs, iTunes, Spotify, video games, etc. Connect your Helix/HX device to a Mac or PC via USB (do not use any sort of USB hub, which may include the front USB ports on towers) and turn it on. Launch the new version of HX Edit 2.90 you installed in Step 1 above. If you're not signed in, click "Check for Updates" in the lower right corner and sign in. If you're already signed in, a dialog panel appears, indicating an update is available. Click "Update Now." A window appears, asking you to back up your Helix/HX hardware. Click OK, optionally rename the backup and/or choose a different destination folder, and then click "Create Backup." IMPORTANT! Note the location where you've saved the backup. Continue following the prompts. Once updated, the window reads "Update Complete" and your Helix/HX hardware begins rebuilding its presets; wait for this to complete and click "Back to HX Edit." From the File pull-down menu, click "Restore from backup..." A dialog appears. Click "Restore Backup" and then "Yes." Once the restore has finished, turn your Helix/HX product off and then on again. If you have Helix Control connected to Helix Rack, turn on Helix Control. Helix Rack reads "Helix Control must be updated to work properly." Press Knob 6 (OK). The important bit is the backup and RESTORE section especially item 6 in red type!
  24. Hi, When you performed the Firmware update, via HX Edit 2.9, you would have been given the option to save a backup of everything on your LT. After flashing the memory in your unit all the Global parameters are reset to default - this is normal with updates. If you did the backup you can choose to restore the Globals that you had previously by loading the backup file in HX Edit and selecting the Global only - tick box. That should have things back to how they were. Furthermore, when you then install the “hot fix” v2.91, you will need to make backup and then a full restore of your LT. See the 2.91 release notes: Hope this helps/makes sense
  25. Have you tried any of the many factory reset options which are listed in one of my posts higher up in this thread. Firstly, I would try the “Update existing presets to latest format” FS 10&11 or even “Safe Boot Model FS 6&12. Nothing to lose - unless you want to use your Helix as a paperweight.
