  1. The HXFX sends CCs just fine .... use the Command Center to set what each button sends, and make sure you have your Global Settings for MIDI set correctly. It doesn't matter which CCs you send from a given button, because you end up mapping them in your DAW.
  2. Camera Connection Kit (Apple adapter for connecting iOS devices to USB).

    slide patch

Don't have one built, sorry, but I've made some in the past to fool around with. Just stick a couple of red "dyna comp" compressors in a row (set first one with the sensitivity high and output low; the other vice versa, and experiment with those settings and also swapping them). Follow with a Fender Twin or Dumble amp model, and adjust gain and eq to taste. Tune your most beat up strat to an open A with heavy flat wound custom string set (account for the tension on the 3 tuned-up strings). You don't have to use a Sears socket wrench for a slide, but it might provide extra voo doo.
  4. I bought a set of AllParts locking tuners (Part No. TK-7591-010) for $35 online. They fit like a glove, swap out in minutes, and are working nicely. I used the original washers from the Variax because I like the bevel on them better than the ones provided. Sure, there are better locking tuners out there, but these are a nice match for my Standard.
  5. Does the goat have all of its shots?
  6. If anyone is selling on fleaBay because they suddenly realize the HX FX isn't an amp modeler, then they didn't read any of Line 6's marketing material. Its pretty darned obvious, duh. (BTW, if you buy one used make sure it has a money-back, and that you immediately test it to ensure it doesn't have the white-noise defect discussed on this forum.)
  7. One step at a time .... the journey is worth it!
  8. useful site for you .... http://surfaceproaudio.com
  9. Yes, it works well for this application, I've used it for vocals + acoustic guitar, with a separate path for each.
  10. Line 6 customers shouldn't have to resort to keeping an old computer or performing Java workarounds just to use their trusty old Variax guitars with Workbench. There are a few things we can do to pressure Line 6 to update Workbench so it works with recent computers and operating systems: 1) open a support ticket here https://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html and the more the merrier. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. 2) be vocal on these and other forums 3) vote for support in Line 6 Ideascale right here. You'll need to register for Ideascale if you haven't already. (In my opinion, the lack of legacy Variax support shouldn't require an "idea" for submission. But sometimes you gotta approach a problem from all angles.) Makes sense
  11. Just a heads up. If you have a problem installing and using the legacy Workbench software after you get your interface, there are various useful threads on the Workbench forum (see below for an example). Not everyone has problems, but if you do, check that forum.
  12. Yeah, use a CCK. And get the Apple one that also supplies power via Lightning. Your signal will remain in the pristine digital domain; using the XLR or 1/4" outs would result in an additional D/A and A/D conversion.
  13. All true. No HX2 needed yet. The original Helix platform can continue to evolve, and be injected into all manor of hardware and software "skins" or form factors. So far we've seen the Floor, Rack, LT, HX FX, Stomp, Native — who knows what else we'll see. And the processing power in these things is sufficient to support more firmware-based goodies over time. I love the updates — its been like getting a new and better unit every time! Me? I'd love to see better polyphonics and pitch-shifting stuff.
  14. Sad. Maybe they'll keep adding steps until it works!
  15. I hope your friends and partners are OK with your selection criteria.
  16. I hope it fixes your problem .... please let us all know if it does!
  17. Try Stop Network Filter in Little Snitch for a moment?
  18. Do let us know what happens. Line 6 should support the demo .... how are they going to make any sales if the demo won't run?! I have this fix in my Logic Pro notes file (random stuff I copy from the web), and it has fixed problems in the past when I had a problematic plug-in. It seems an odd fix, but it might be worth a try. Shooting in the dark here.... If Logic crashes while scanning the installed plug-ins, follow the steps below to resolve this problem: 1 Close Logic and open Finder. 2 Navigate to the following folder: • Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components 3 Copy the plug-ins that are causing the problem from this folder to your Desktop. Once copied to your Desktop, delete them from the Components folder. 4 Start Logic and open the Plug-in-Manager under Logic Pro > Settings > Plug-in-Manager 5 Click the button Reset & Rescan Selection. 6 Close Logic after the scan has finished. 7 Move the plug-in files from the Desktop back into the folder "Components".
  19. It sounds like a lot of people are having a similar problem, using various DAWs. It seems to be some kind of problem with the authorization (I'm guessing). Open up a ticket with Line 6 .....they need to be aware of the issue, and they don't monitor this forum. IF you're able to get a fresh project, fresh track, and fresh instance of Native to open in Studio One, try clicking My Account in the plug-ins lower left corner and logging into your Line 6 account to see if that all goes smoothly.
  20. If you start a new Project in Logic, make a new Audio track, and then put Native in as a plug-in, go to My Account in the bottom left corner of plug-in window. Select Preferences to see the version number. If not 1.7, try reinstalling it. If Version 1.7 is installed and you continue to have your strange problem, you may want to try reinstalling Helix Native. You should be able to open and change things in Native while Logic is playing or stopped without any problems.
  21. Make sure you're running V1.7 and can log in to your Line 6 account from within the plug-in: Click My Account at lower left corner of Native window (Version 1.7 only .... earlier versions had a gear icon). Preferences will tell you the version number. Log-In and My Account should take you to the Line 6 My Account page, and log-in should go smoothly. Also check you plug-ins using Logic's Plug-In Manager and see if HXN appears as "successfully validated" or not. If not, try to validate again there. Do this in a fresh project, before any plug-ins are loaded into any channels. If its in the list, try adding HXN to a single channel and see if it works or causes a beach ball. All useful data for troubleshooting.... ....another thing (if this is indeed the problem you're having, not sure about that) that some have done when having various weird problems was to de-authorize the plug-in, and then re-authorize it.
  22. Controlling block parameters and toggling FX is straightforward, but to my knowledge you still can't control patch changes in HXN via external MIDI. To control FX, I'd 1) use the Assign/Controller tab to map the FX parameters and toggles you want to control to Knobs and Switches (there are 12 of each you can use). See the appropriate section in the HXN manual for info on how to do this. Then 2), use Logic's Smart Controls to map the Native Knobs and Switches you've assigned to whatever MIDI (CCs) your Helix Floor is sending. Of course, you've got to set up controller switches/pedals in Floor also (so that's a third step!). So: Floor Pedal and Switch Controllers ----> MIDI CCs (via USB) ----> Logic Smart Control HXN Map ---> HXN Controller Assignments Not sure what your knowledge of MIDI controlling is, but this info should hopefully get you started.

    TS 1/4 outputs

+1 Why not just use the XLRs?
  24. Its working fine with Logic Pro and Sierra for me here. FYI, Line 6 doesn't monitor this forum .... you might want to open up a support ticket with them. Some folks have run into odd issues because Native was trying to phone home to verify authorization (although authorization is only supposed to require and internet connection when you first install). You may want to make sure you don't have a firewall or little snitch or something blocking a good connection to Line 6, just in case that's the issue.
