wildboy -- I just did a quick experiment here, and using a split path works for me, like this: Didn't need to use a Volume/Pan block, because if you click on the output Host circle you can do the hard pan L or R there. The split path works fine, and I'm using two different amps on those paths. (Using Logic Pro X here). The result is a stereo output, with one amp panned hard L, one hard R. You can split those off however you like in your DAW using busses, etc. I didn't experiment with a Dual Mono HXN, but thats worthy of an experiment.

If you record your take, then route it into two separate HXN mono amps, then pan one hard left an one hard right using the Stereo Volume/Pan block, than split the bounced stereo track to two monos using your DAW (or bus into two monos), would that work for you? You could do the same thing playing in real-time, if you have a low-latency set-up.

Unable to install workbench on mac
soundog replied to philschon's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Squeaky wheel gets the grease. There is a significant number of installed base vintage Variax users. (On a personal note, I've kept my Variax Acoustic 700 in pristine shape, and gig with it weekly. I use Workbench regularly to create custom settings and tunings.) If Line 6 gets a reputation for dropping support for their Variax guitars after ten years, that's gotta impact sales. -

Jeepers, Line 6. Would you freakin' just fix legacy Workbench for your users? -
I think the 2.71 update was just bug fixes, so the 2.5 manual should list all the current FX....

... I wanted to help with this but didn't have time this morning. Its so cool when someone takes the time to read the docs and research a solution for someone else. Bravo

It can be no fuss, but you need a pretty up-to-date computer with sufficient CPU and RAM. Once you get everything set up and working it should be just fine, but if you're new to it there will be a bit of a learning curve. Does Reaper's stock guitar amp work OK for you?

Please read this related thread: Also, a lot depends on if you will also be recording vocals, in which case you need to also shop for quality mic preamps. As far as guitar goes, make sure the interface is designed to take "hot" guitar inputs. An included pad is recommended in that case. Both the Steinberg and Focusrite you mention have a pad on the hi-z input(s). Read the specs. Read reviews! And if possible buy with a 30-day money-back guarantee in case you have issues.

Try setting your input on the Stomp to "Line" (Global Settings; turn the Upper Knob to select the Ins/Outs submenu).

Your HD 500 should be a good interface. No sense buying a new interface unless you need it. The Stomp would likely have better specs for recording, but I doubt you would hear the difference. If you need microphone inputs, get a quality interface and shop for something that has good specs for the high-Z guitar input as well as the mic inputs. Be sure when you're using Native to keep you peak levels below -12dB on the Native input meter. Your recorded waveforms don't need to be "fat" to get good results.

Does your computer have plenty of horsepower? If its lacking, even increasing the buffers won't help with crackling if you're overloading your system. Try a fresh DAW project with just a single Helix Native track and nothing else running on your computer, with I/O buffer set to max. Does the crackling go away or diminish?

Hello all - and a question
soundog replied to BananaYogi's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
I had an XPS fail on me, and found that the IC chip was bad. Replaced it and all was well again. If shopping used, also look for the Line 6 XPS Mini (no XLR out, no switch, just the basics - stereo line in, mono line out), and uses the same power supply -

The spec on your adaptor is a good match. It "should" work, but not guaranteed it supplying what the XPS needs. Hopefully you can suss out which component is bad (the power supply or the XPS) and get refunds as applicable. -
Line 6 sez: * Eligible Products must be purchased as new from an authorized Line 6 reseller (an “Authorized Reseller”). * Eligible Products must be owned by the Qualified Purchaser for a period of no less than one hundred eighty (180) days in order to qualify for the Promotional Savings. These terms imply you can sell you LT hardware after your 180 days ownership is over and retain legal ownership of Native. Of course, the new LT buyer won't be eligible for a Native discount.

Hello all - and a question

The XPS footswitch is sensitive to the power supply used .... I learned that when trying different, cheaper ones. The Line 6 supply is the only one I've ended up using. I've not experienced the red/green alternating light you're experiencing, though. This will be difficult to troubleshoot unless you try an "official" Line 6 power supply; then you'll know for sure if the XPS is OK. -
V-Picks for $4 seems high but acceptable. But $3.85 to ship it is ridiculous when the pick would easily ship first class (with tracking) for less than 50 cents!
-
I'm baffled too. Maybe the copy protection Line 6 has created for Helix Native is causing the problem? I don't know. Native is working fine for lots of Logic users, but others are routed through the gates of Hades. I'm sure you've probably tried to troubleshoot a bunch of stuff, but you can try eliminating as many other variables as possible so you're just dealing with Logic Pro X (with a fresh project) and Helix Native. No audio interface or other plug-ins or previous projects. And delete Logic preference file(s). Apple provides step by step processes here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200260 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201199

Do you have the proper slave/master setup for your SPDIF? It is probably either a SPDIF digital mismatch, or a grounding issue.
-
Sounds like a useful workaround. Version 1.8 is not out as of today, but I suppose we can assume MIDI program change support won't be added as it hasn't been mentioned. We shall see. I don't think it would be a difficult feature to add (mapping MIDI program changes to Preset selections), but would require lots of testing (lots of DAWs).

What is your complete audio path? Include all cable, computer, interface, speaker/amp info. Also any lighting stuff (fluorescent? Tibetan salt crystal?) Example: Guitar -----> 1/4" guitar cable ----> Helix ----> ? --------> ? ---------->

Direct, unamplified guitar tracks for Native
soundog replied to Indianrock2020's topic in Helix Native
Speakers and headphones can make a big difference, dependent on quality and response (and volume, spacial effects, etc). If you have a decent audio interface for recording and your playback is the same for Helix and Native, things should sound close to identical. If you record using Helix as your interface things will be identical. This assumes levels are set correctly in your DAW and Native. You could always try those headphones with your Helix and compare. Or run your computer through your speakers. Try to keep the other variables the same. [Line 6 reports the firmware/software is identical between Native and the hardware....] -
Apparently Native is now now $99 for Helix, LT, Stomp, and Effects registers owners. All the time, not just a short promotion...
-
I missed any mention of that here on the forums, so this is great news, especially for Stomp and Effects owners.
