...not certain this is the case, but worth an experiment if you have a spare MIDI cable. In similar situations (using MIDI OUT to MIDI IN on the same device), removing one of the ground pins (on the MIDI IN end of the MIDI cable) fixed odd data problems. This occurred in enough situations that I keep the ground-snipped MIDI cable handy. Ground is pin 2 (middle pin).

new redesign ....

Nope, output is to only to the audio track the plug in is inserted into (or the next plug in). But you could re-amp the output from your audio interface, using a passive DI box turned backwards, or a special re-amp box that converts your high-output audio interface signal to instrument/guitar level to feed into your amp. Look for plenty of articles online on re-amping from your DAW or audio interface.

Looking for experience with external looper control from Helix
soundog replied to MartinDorr's topic in Helix
Not using it anymore (went back to a Boomerang hardware looper and could never go back), but I gigged for a year or so with Mobius, a well-established and solid looper for PC and Mac. And for iPhone/iPad I've used Loopy quite a bit and its pretty solid and bug free. Fully MIDI controllable, so would work with Helix. -
Midi Monitor is the best free monitor for Mac.

...it still weird to have to submit an idea, and get votes for it, in order to fix an obvious user-interface problem. But if that's the way its gotta be done, so be it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ fyi, I tried an example Photoshop treatment to create more contrast for blocks using a HXN screen shot. Top row of blocks is untreated (the way it looks in the current plug-in), the bottom row I treated so the On blocks are more obvious. (The same blocks are turned on or off in each row.) Of course we users can't fix the current plugin problem using image editing, but it serves as a demonstration:

There have been a couple of similar requests on IdeaScale. This one https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Voicelive-type-vocal-processing/772456-23508#idea-tab-comments has the most votes by far (214). Better to pool the votes rather than create a new request and split them. You can also add your ideas to the existing idea. BTW, the older TC Helicon devices are better than the new ones, and can be had for cheap in the used market. They seem to have taken an odd turn towards trying to make rap beatbox loopers you can mount on a mic stand, and they cut costs so the processing power is diminished.

Help! Helix Native, Logic X and 3rd party IR managers?
soundog replied to mikeybaker1's topic in Helix Native
You could always try using two instances of Helix Native, with Kazrog in between. Kazrog Sandwich! So; HXN(1) pre cabinet blocks ----> IR Loader ----> HXN(2) post-cabinet blocks/fx. You may even want to experiment using a mono track for the mono HXN(1) and IR Loader plug-ins, then bus that output to a stereo track for a stereo instance of HXN(2). I just checked out Recabinet on the Kazrog site, and think I'll get it. The other IR loaders were pretty limited in comparison. I don't really like trying to manage the IR slot configuration in HXN, and with Recabinet I could (I think) create presets for my favorite IRs. Too bad we have to use two instances of HXN for now. -
Help! Helix Native, Logic X and 3rd party IR managers?
soundog replied to mikeybaker1's topic in Helix Native
you could try the Rosen Digital Audio version. but i doubt it will sound differently. the IR loaders are pretty simple. normally you want the IR right after your Helix amp (with no cabinet, unless you are going for that effect). Then if you run your HXN amp output right into your IR loader (with no effects in between) and adjust levels, it should sound no different than loading the IR in HXN. if HXN supported Input and Output blocks, you could patch your IR loader into the path, but it doesn't. -
I like Zoom stuff, but that UAC2 interface got slammed in the Amazon reviews (latency and driver issues). The Audient got good reviews, and the specs look good for A/D & Hi-Z impedance needed for Helix Native. The Focusrite Clarett would be nice if you can afford it, but its $200 more. It would be nice if you could try the Audient in your studio with a money-back guarantee.

Good to know, thx!

Are your long delays and reverb cut off right at the loop seam (where loop starts and starts)? If so, I don't recall a setting that be used to tweak this. My Boomerang looper, for example, uses a 10 ms volume ramp at the boundary to even those sorts of effects out, or you can remove the volume ramps for drones/eBow stuff.

Logic Pro X will do it also, as should most major DAWs. Still, direct MIDI control without the need for DAW assignments would be useful to many.

I hear ya. Line 6 hardly ever tips their hat on releases .... but I hope soon.

Is HxNative getting a bug fix like Firmware 2.52?
soundog replied to Lachdanan0121's topic in Helix Native
Mexican strat, Variax standard, Music Man bass ---> Apollo Twin audio interface ---> Logic Pro X + Helix Native. -
Thx ... I'll just go by ear. I was just curious what was used to shoot the IRs.
-
Trying the free presets now .... any usage tips/recommendations/notes on the three included IRs (Fremen 1, 2, and 3)? The Epic and JCM presets use an IR pointed at slot #1.

Thanks for posting this and letting Line 6 know — its may be the only way it'll get noticed & fixed. The square surrounding the blocks, the block symbol, and the text could all contribute to highlighting which blocks are turned on. I think they just need a more obvious difference between the levels for dim/off and bright/on. Even simply underlining or bolding the text for "On" might work. Some usability testing would find the best solution....but if its easy to differentiate in the Helix hardware editor, should be easy to leverage the code.

Are you using Ableton? @mangaprun is describing Ableton; if you have a different DAW it will probably be done differently. (check DAW manual for something like "controller assignment").

Consider some smaller patch sets for two separate audiences: 1) folks in cover bands wanting to accurately copy artist/song sounds (e.g. Van Halen, Another Brick in The Wall, etc), and 2) folks in original bands or studio/recording artists who focus on great amp tone (e.g. LoneStar, Matchbook, crunch, lead, clean, etc; ), then customize with their own fx based on song needs). Also nice: small single coil only collection for us strat purists.

I submitted a ticket for this, and heard back from Line 6: Hello, Thanks for your interest in our products. In order for your feedback to reach the right people, we ask that you submit your comments, ideas, and suggestions to our IdeaScale where ideas are voted on, with commentary, sometimes by the Product Managers themselves: http://line6.ideascale.com/ We take your feedback very seriously and appreciate the time you take to help us better serve you with better quality products. Best regards, L6 Support Team Fine, I'll make the suggestion, but it seems more like a UI design flaw to me. I went ahead and submitted it; here is the IdeaScale suggestion: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-Native-Make-Block-On-Off-Selection-More-Obvious/925874-23508?submitted=1#idea-tab-details If you're not familiar with IdeaScale, you gotta create an account, and then you can submit Line 6 Ideas, or vote for them. Top votes get more attention. Please vote for this if you want it fixed.
