On yer Mac, are you running any cloud backup or virus scanning software ?

What I can't understand is why anyone wouldn't "want" the editor in the 1st place? Yet some have argued and reasoned against using it. That kind of illogical reasoning makes no sense to me...

No just the brick a female plug negative center.

Until implants become the norm, Time spent on learning a piece of gear matters. Any gear. You can't expect Helix to make you a rock star overnight. Or even 2 weeks from now. Besides, thats not enough time for an old man like me to goto the restroom... Ive been playing for over 40 years and Ive barely, barely skimmed the surface of one or two kinds of guitar playing styles and techniques. I keep trying. But even so, you still have to spend the time, and if yer not willing to do that then it won't matter what gear you buy.

I had time tonight to play with the iPad editor and my Firehawk 1500. I went to the cloud, typed in the word "Gibbons", and low and behold several dozen patches came up for me to choose from. That 92 JCM900 was sweet let me tell ya. Then I typed in "Clapton", and got a patch called "Sunshine of your Love-Cream"... Sounded good. I jammed away for about 15 minutes LOL... There were many others- damn this thing sounds really good guys...

Yes I know they have this, but wouldn't it be nice to have that spring loaded Mission pedal wah on, all the time, and ready to turn on and use just by rocking that pedal forward? And Soon as you remove yer foot off the pedal its back off again... Thats what the Axe FX II and Kemper have now. The reason they do is because its a wonderful and fast way to use a wah pedal. No switch to press- always ready and u can use it on every patch... A much needed add If I do say so.

njglover, please explain to me then how retailers make any profit at all, if the manufacturer is the one that sets the price for the retailer and then gets that price sent back to them? Simple economics says to me that the manufacturer sets a price, and then the retailer gets whatever they can above this for their own profit. is this not how it works? What ever happened to "lowest price sells the most" when all retailers just happen to have the same price for the same item? Smells fishy and makes no sense to me, but hey thats ok too :P And may I ask you in what capacity you worked there as? A salesman, a manager? A district Manager for a region? I ask not to doubt, but it matters as to just how much you got to see when you worked there.

Great ideas guys! Just how many IR's does Helix come with anyway?
-
Thats an awesome idea Graemey!

Shame really- I would PAY for an update and more adds. But Im afraid the JTV may go the way of the Vetta.

Im doing the same thing and My FH1500 doesn't freeze. Slow wireless router perhaps? Or maybe you have an issue with the FH1500.

K well I guess I'll just use the iPhone/iPad editor then.

Standard guitar and Variax simultaneously in 1500
spikey replied to Evorgeloc's topic in Firehawk 1500
I have a strat in the 1/4" jack and a Variax in the Vdi port. Both work just fine for me without unplugging anything. -
Again, when you run Line 6 updater, does that program see Helix and bring up its picture/icon? That would tell you if the Mac see's Helix ok, it would tell you that the USB cable is working, and it would tell you that nothings broken on Helix USB comm port side.

I think Ill just have to agree to disagree with your mindset on this Hamm. Yea it probably isn't illegal, but that don't make it right bud... :)

There is a 9.6 volt negative center brick used on Boss and Ibanez stomps, part# US9.6DC-200BI

Well mdecola1, it looks like what happens in a large government installation where the west side of the building is told one thing, and the east side, another. Hopefully there will be movement on getting better DT integration with Helix. Guys like DI know this is important for a lot of folks and I'm sure this will get mentioned in further meetings of the minds...

I keep hoping for an add for this like what Kemper and the Axe FX already has. At heel down, the wah is off and normal tones apply. As you rock the mission pedal forward (Axe FX has a percentage you can change in the menus for this) it engages the wah. There is also a frequency control for the low end and high end, so you can set the wah to your liking, and rock it on without much difference in the "non-wah" tones, so no one hears it engage until its already on. People go- where did that wah come from, I didnt hear the click?!? Im trying my best to get L6 to at least acknowledge this much needed add on as a work in progress, but no such luck so far...

Currently there are user made 7736 "Rigs" available for download for Kemper, not to mention the hundreds of 3rd party ones. Now not all of them are worthy of a 5 star rating. But I would suggest that thousands are good enough to gig with and record with. We don't know exactly whats involved or how deep the rabbit hole goes, but as mileskb stated, getting access to Line 6 code to allow 3rd parties to create new amps (or components) may be difficult, if not impossible. I assume all that depends on what Yamaha/ Line 6 wish to do. I'll tell you this much as far as I see it. Allowing (or designing into your device) 3rd parties to make quality amps/IR's/Rigs for other Guitar Processor Makers resulted in a huge market full of stuff for us, the guitar player while it also promoted the reason for more sales of that processor. Lets see what happens! :D

Looks sharp!

I figure most computer and mouse literate folks will find the editor much faster Hamm. ;) Besides that I noticed your setup has the Helix Rack unit sitting on the floor in a case.Im thinking if thats where you like it, it would speed up the work for you too...

I blame ALhelix....
-
Well I can't disagree with this yet because I don't have my Helix yet. And I have heard the Helix is a breeze to program and edit by touch. But I can tell you that if the Helix editor is made correctly this shouldn't be less easy to use versus hands on. I base this on the use of the Axe FX II editor, Kemper's Rig Manager, Line 6 Workbench and Gearbox among others.

Thanks Duncann, thats what I thought too in using other guitar processor editors "real time" while also recording with DAW software, and I never had any issues either. I couldn't imagine L6 making an Editor you couldn't in real time "edit" with. Kinda defeats the whole purpose that way.
