Best advice Ive read all day...

Quit trying to blow smoke up my panties Hamm. 1st off I don't have any on, and secondly it may not be illegal in the sense that they all have the same price tag cost, but it sure as heck is price fixing no matter how you wanna slice it. Now is it a fair price? Thats not what Im talking about. Are they most always the "same" price? Yes, and that is what Im talking about. Manufacturers can suggest we all jump off a cliff, but we don't have to, do we? Where is the competition in that for us Hamm?
-
If you are describing me thats not what I said. What I said was not to expect to get a 1600 dollar new preamp tone for 800.00. What I said was we usually get what we pay for. The reason why the 1600 dollar one sounds good is because it "is" expensive and well made with quality items that cost money to build. I understand trying to get a good deal- Im not saying thats wrong. But its unreasonable, foolish and frankly a cheap elitist attitude to have IMHO by thinking we should all have something for nothing, or even at half the cost new and then EXPECT it sound sound as awesome as one that cost twice the price. The devs gotta eat too.

In some cases they already have. Decided together I mean... Pure speculation but why just why do you think most of the products at MF, SW and others are same price exactly Hamm? Coincidence lol.... They all went to the same Bahama Hotel, and in that large meeting room downstairs said, were not gonna cut each others throats, right?... But the other, I was saying (pipe dreaming) only that wouldn't be nice for the guitar player if fantasy happened like that, just for a moment. Sigh oh well theres still competition enough to promote new and better stuff I guess...

Too bad (and moot point) for the car buying customer we can't "just once" get GM, BMW and FORD in the same room for 6 days (or 6 minutes), and say ok Boys, share all your secrets. Who knows, it might fix the acceleration lag. ;)
-
Agreed- Very nice and flexible, something needed for a long time in guitar processors! THANKS for the info !

Nothing wrong in getting what you pay for. But don't think you can get the same tone from a 1500.00 preamp for a nickel either.

Good. Im glad we agree on that Doffe. Here's the bottom line for me, and it go's kinda to what Glideman was saying and Phil was joking about. Buy what you want. Use what you want. The AX8 and Helix can only get better with time. But don't get butthurt over another company that out does or out shines you for a month or two, just because you are prideful of the place you work for, or the gear you play thru. Don't get mad at the player or customer for seeing the differences. CHANGE things. Make better, play better. I.E. Its not wrong AT ALL for Line 6 to have better ideas in the beginning than say Fractal Audio. But if Fractal then decides to puff up and get mad at the customers for saying and wanting something that Line 6 has done better on, thats where its all wrong headed. Your not a bad person just because you prefer the way Line 6 does business versus the way Fractal Audio does. Same thing in reverse is true for "ANY" company or person. Learning to listen to a better way is a rare talent and is a foreign concept for some, and I have fallen in to that trap myself from time to time. There is nothing wrong with other companies out gunning each other, or stating that fact on their forums. It provides motivation to do better. Theres Nothing wrong with competition, in other words. Thats a good thing and it only makes things better for us the guitar player. But please, don't hate a good idea just because you might not have thought of it first, generally speaking of course. As always YMMV.... :)

This worries me some because I have yet to install any Helix software on my iMac running El C (still waiting for mine to arrive). So how many have NO issues using Helix on an iMac?
-
Ok thanks!. When you say "return it where it makes most sense". does that mean say after the amp/cab and before the delay and reverb?
-
Look in the Axe FX II section. He (when I was over there a lot) posted many times. Of course, we can split hairs on what is "many". "I've said it before, but we're big fans of what Cliff and co. have accomplished (and will continue to accomplish); a few Line 6ers own AxeFX themselves." Good to know... And I agree about the ill-informed masses part....
-
Well I think I saw a guy on YouTube do that. I don't know why you couldn't as its frfr and could use a non amp/no cab patch...
-
ya know the best I can do at this point is pester a guy that had a Helix, and returned it... That's like smelling a moist double layer thick icing chocolate cake, but ya can't take a bite...
-
How did you program the B9 leslie brake in Helix? Or are you using the rotary in Helix itself?
-
Are there any plans to add on or goto a manual calibration?
-
We just have to disagree about the importance that some might see that as then DI. And you know what, thats ok too... But... you didn't answer my earlier Question. What about that "Heel Down wah off" Mission Controller add on Mr. Product Manager? :D
-
Nothing wrong with Scott that losing a dollar or two wouldn't fix.... :P IM KIDDING! Im sure he's gonna eventually (theres that word again) buy another Helix in a year or so anyway... So yea id buy him a beer too.
-
You might think it ridiculous, but yes, I do. At least once in a while. And you know what? Cliff doesn't have to do that either, but he does. After all Hamm, the size of company isn't what matters to the customer. What matters is that the "owner" took the time to talk to him/her. That means something, or it used to. And Im also thinking Fender might sell a lot more if they worried over people more, versus the money end of things. You see, my viewpoint is that one takes care of the other. Now Im not saying that things need to change or else, Im just saying thats the way it should be. As always YMMV. ;)

TY Graemey- thats what I wanted to read!
-
Are you running any program that might interfere with L6 updater? I dunno, like virus protection or backup software?
-
Thats a nice position and Im proud for ya... Thanks for the hard work! I never said you were not communicating. The CEO isn't however. Err... ;) Since you are "Product Manager" for Helix, when are you gonna add "heel down wah off" for the mission pedals? In keeping with the spirit and intent of this thread, Im pretty sure the AX8 already has this feature right freeking now, I know for a fact Kemper and the Axe FX II does, and Id like to see this on Helix.....

By occasionally I mean about every other day or so on average, at least when I hung out there lots... And I appreciate and want your input here DI so lose the chip if there is one because its not needed and my toes are not part step ladder. And I mean no disrespect when I say to YOU that there is a huge difference in talking to you, versus the CEO and software designer of Fractal. Thats like talking to God versus a disciple so to speak... Unless Im mistaken, and you are the CEO and software designer of Line 6? Please pardon me if thats the case.
