To me, the floor controller (has a tuner) for the Helix rack unit (which also has a tuner) is more stable.
-
Which sounds would you like? Theres over 9000 on RigManager now.
-
Ben, on #3 I can tell you I much prefer the floor controllers tuner versus the Rack's tuner. It's very stable and works well. On #1 yes I believe that they are the same as on the 1st floor model.

One thing Native cant do (without some hardware) is mimic the current Helix's ability to serve as the send and return capital of my studio.
-
Yea the "Low End"update will be nice as I have a bass to play with now.
-
Hummm, I have an Apogee Jam laying around here some place ...
-
I was gonna answer a "qoute" in a thread and get this mess why?

WOOOOOHOOOOOOO !~!!!!!!! :D

Good Find!!!

I just hope that the software sounds equal to the hardware. Not that it matters what I say here, I will give much praise if it does do that, and much criticism if it does not. Hoping for the BEST however! :)
-
I'd like proof of that, and then I will gladly shutup and praise the Line 6 Gods! ;) Anyone care to do some comparisons and post them??
-
Ahh but Phil, do those tones (Helix versus Native) sound the same , using the same signal chain and thru the same monitors? Have you compared them?
-
There are monitors with good tone and then there are monitors that don't work well for FRFR Helix/Kemper/AXE processors. You will just have to read and judge by others who have used them. Then, listen to them via the net.
-
Here is what I'm leary of. Ive not got the tones from any software that compared with my hardware, ever. Cliff (fractal) said IIRC that the reason for this is because of the expensive (or non-expensive) DtoA and AtoD chips used inside audio processors. In other words computers are built to be computers and Helix and the Axe FX (with the Sharc Processors and related chips) do the DtoA and AtoD conversions better for the audio side. Now Im sure Im missing a great deal of other things in what makes audio sound better, but the fact is for me at least, I have a Helix box and a Kemper box because I can not get the same TONES with Guitar Rig and Amplitube like I can with them. Thats a fact, and believe me I have tried using the later models of "software". That, is why I'm a bit "leary" of software type processors. I hope that Native has the ability to prove me wrong on this. We shall see. That's all wonderful, but can't you do all this now by simply running the dry out of the DAW and into Helix for reamping?
-
Where in the HELL have you been!?!? :D Welcome back Zap!
-
Sure phil but the variety give you lots of different ways to spice up your tracks, and they sound great too! As far as the "reverbs" go I think they sound fine. They are not Strymon like verbs but they were never intended to be. Take a listen and enjoy...

I'll say it again, as a general rule if money saved is what you are seeking, then tone is what you will least likely care about. Doesn't mean you can't come acrossed a good deal on used great stuff here or there. It does mean that you most likely won't find a good used CLR or FireHawk 1500 for $400.00. In fact I just looked, there's a FH1500 on ebay right now for $700.00- Dunno the condition, but almost half price!

Nothing at all bad about running a DT50 with Helix, into a good cab. It sounds great. It's just a shame that Line 6 seems to have all but abandoned the "Dream Rig" idea and the L6-Link functions, passing nothing but audio from the port now from Helix. Yes I've read all the excuses as to why that is, but it still baffles me as to why that port that has the same "trademarked" name the on two different (HD-500 and Helix) units, yet work completely different from one another. But fear not, because the DT-50 series amp is still one Hellova amp.

So, a Line 6 version of "Amplitube" ? Sorry if I sound a bit miffed but I was really hoping for many "other things" for Helix, before we moved onward. Im sure Im probably unaware that many more things are indeed coming, but still. I guess that if I can get the same tones from both the new "Helix Native" software and the old hardware (funny referring to Helix as old now), it's then worth its own salt (and my money). Its just that I have never had software (on a PC or Mac guitar wise) that matched the hardware tone wise...., yet.

Thanks for the Preview DI. Great adds for sure. BTW where's that tuner for the editor ? ;)
-
Really necessary? Depends on who you ask. ;) I say no, its not. I have the ability to run the Helix into a Firehawk 1500 FRFR amp and it sounds killer. Thru my Mackie HR824 studio monitors it sounds great too. And I can also run Helix thru my Fryette Power Station 2 and into my 2x12 cab with Cele V30's and its just to die for. So, no IMHO it's NOT necessary.

I want one built into the Helix editor and not an addon.
