Well, If it doesn't work as expected in this way, I can and will always have the option to use it with my DT-50 amp and Helix using the 4 cable method, a L6-Link "audio" cable, and a midi cable (at least until they get off their L6 collective arshes and fix the control part of L6-Link for Helix). Oops there I go again... ;)

Not yet but will soon. I'm hoping for some tubey organic goodness using it with Helix

I'm gonna get some of your work/patches soon for Helix. Bad timing right now right after Xmas and taxes yuck...

Love my Helix into my Firehawk 1500! Kewl video! Thanks!!

Heres a neat little idea I ran across, if you happen to have a Fryette Power station... Here's how to use the PS as the "AMP" block inside Helix! See This video for more info. Here is the hookup diagram, along with what blocks in the editor you might use.

I Re-upped- yes I have to use both aux's, one with instrument lvl (aux 1) for whats being sent to the front of the amp (guitar in), and the other "has" to be line level because thats what my load box is sending out, back to Helix. Unless your load box sends at instrument level (at which case it would be easier to do) you need to use line level signals. Here is the new pic. Of course you can sub out with any amp head (and "optional" external cab) and load box as long as it has a line (or inst.) out Im thinking, but as always YMMV.
-
Yea I'm rethinking this as well. You can't use the instrument lvl main out cause that's the last point in the chain. it has to be a aux instrument lvl send (to the amp input). That means that since the return from the load box is line level, u would have to use a second aux port set at line lvl for the return in Helix. So you are correct STPLE. Sorry but my drawing above I believe is wrong.

Im not sure where Helix lines up with this, but Id say get a Mac ;)

Just guessing- Did you try reinstalling the software? Turn it on. Let it say boot failure. Then see if it will let you reinstall the software via Line 6 updater.
-
Yep, and not just with Line 6. This is universal and until the owner of company strangles a few (BTW please post this event on Youtube) of them their gonna cut corners cause it saves um M O N E Y. That said, Ive use my FH1500 every day for abt a year with no hicups and just love the tones from Helix thru it.

If you are referring to Blanking out the presets on the DT-50, thats because it has the mic and amps (presets) -programmed in its 4 topo/channels. If you ran this into Helix and used Helix's own amps and mics it would sound muddy. Thats why you have to use something like DT-edit to clear all 4 settings right now in the DT-50 if you are going to use its (Class A/Class AB; pentode/triode) components. Then you use a midi cable to switch these via the control panel tab in Helix. Its a "thru the hoops" work around, but it sorta works. Right now the L6 LINK connection works with POD HD integration and does the control work for you. We are still waiting for the same with Helix.
-
That should work hideout and just monitor the outputs. Im not sure if there is latency involved as that would depend on both drivers for both products. But it should work I think.
-
You could just use the monitor left and right ins on back the FH1500 from your audio interface, and then play thru the amp for guitar work.
-
I dunno if its the same or not but I "sold" the CLR's I had to purchase the FireHawk 1500, because it sounded better to me. ;) So as always just use what sounds good to you because thats what matters in the long run.
-
Unless you are like me and "like" the sounds from a Marshall 1960a cab. A few million of us do. ;) Mine will always be used with my DT series head in some way or another. But you still need an amp to power Helix as has been stated. Best of both worlds is get a Firehawk 1500 amp / backup too.
-
Roscoe5, You will lose tone when you attenuate a cranked amp using a pure resistive load box, as jbuhajia stated. Theres evidence of that all over the web. Thats the reason why it was only meant to protect the amp and not pass any signal.

Common sense says you are correct. Not B1tchin, just saying...

and with a free patch download.

If you mean by "digital comm port" the L6-Link port, then yes it should, but the agenda /plan for this to happen has not arrived yet. AFAIK the only thing the L6-Link port on the back of Helix is doing now, is feeding the DT-50 amp regular audio. Correct as needed as always. A midi cable (and Helix editor to program the midi) has to handle the control / switching parts.

Price = quality = increased tonal bliss usually. For an FRFR only Id look hard at the Atomic CLR. For an all around great sounding amp/FRFR for Helix Id look hard at the Line 6 Firehawk 1500 (what I own). I use a pair of Mackie HR-824 flat studio monitors (for recording/playback) along side the firehawk and both are "flat" and neutral tone wise (meaning I dont have to tweak settings on Helix between the two).

Ive owned the Axe FX II XL+, the Helix and a Kemper. All 3 sound just KILLER and its a good time to be alive if you are a guitar player! I now do mostly home stuff and still have the Helix and Kemper. Ive been using Line 6 products since before the Variax had alternate tunings, and I can tell you that once you figure out Helix (which is easy compared to the Axe FX) it sounds amazing. Tones to die for. I would say that if the Axe FX II XL+ was priced at the same lvl as Helix, then Line 6 might have more competition. Is it better? Thats a matter of opinion. As always YMMV, but Im an old RocknRoller who's had many different rigs over 40 + years, and I have a Helix and Kemper now. I hope that tells you something. Good luck and Happy New Year in what you choose!
