Other than long term financing I would doubt that a new Helix gets discounted much, but stranger things have happened!!! Who knows, if we get a humdinger of a update patch we may never see a discount! :P
-
Im sure it depends on how fast the sellers stock has moved. If its sit there a bit its possible to get one with older firmware, but its easy to update so I don't see this as an issue.

Mine has frozen as well, but not because of the pedal Im thinking. However I could not save the preset while the numbers were jumping on the wah, and the cable connection was not loose or connected wrong. Just by moving the "Mission" pedal a bit fixed the random numbers from floating around and allowed me to "save" the preset (before I could not save it). Im not sure if Helix is catching the pot in a place that it cant determine the proper resistance, or if the pedal itself is at a point thats not reading right until I move it some.

Of course we can all shop where we want and order online, and thats a good thing. My point is that "every one" including GC can order stuff online, but walking into a store today with near everything already there is a very rare and unexpected experience. I think we have out grown that expectation or never knew it existed, but thats the way it "was" 40 years ago. sigh.... OTOH we couldn't watch a war live on our displays or pay for movie tickets online either. So I guess it all evens out one way or another. :P
-
If GC would have what I want they might stand a better chance selling stuff to me. Their best one liner here is "no but we can order it for you". But hey they have a huge wall of cables that are 3x the price for those that don't know any better.... (spikey lowers his waving arms, climbs off his stump, and go's back under his rock...)

Two opinions. there ya go.... LOL

Sure. There should be discounts on just abt everything. You may have to call them or chat with them to get it.

Im not sure you are saying that Helix compressors are like fast food or not? ;)

Corrupted software can make "any" computer freeze, not just Helix. Glad you got it corrected.

Im usually a 1 patch per song guy too, altho I might add boost or a wah or kick in some delay. As far as the IR's being more responsible for Helix's tone improvements than Helix itself, hummmm. sure good IR's and proper tweaks help the tone. My point is that It might be the driver that wins the car race, but he didn't do it without a fast car to begin with. ;) :D

He got married??? Oh well then the 1st thing he will need to learn is "Happy Wife, Happy life"... :P :D Grats!

Heh yea, one made of steel and belts the size small cars use these days. ;)

I just have 3 patches (saved & setup) on "User-2" in Helix, with my DT-50 head into a 1960a cab. AC-30 Topo III Class A, , Fender "Tweed" using Topo II AB, and a Fender Deluxe, I, AB. I played for over an hour just switching back and forth....., damn..... it sounded so good!
-
Ahh ok thanks- When you said configuration commands I thought "Global" commands... lol.
-
So lets say you are in Class AB topo 1( Fender), and you switch over to Class A topo III (Vox). How do you do that with just one midi command rad?
-
DI are you "on the lam"?
-
Anyone else do the above and notice that the DT amp switched now like it was supposed to? I know this was common knowledge to some but it was an Epiphany for me! :D

Can I update directly to latest firmware after purchase...

Be sure and (if you are using Windows especially) setup your OS for audio. There are many sites with this info. Here is one for Windows 7 and another for Windows 10. As far as too many A to D and D to A conversions, technically thats true. I just run my audio outs in to a DAW track, and it then becomes digital until its monitored or played back. But thats still just the normal 2 conversions (no matter how many times it played back) so you wont lose any (very tiny amounts) definition by this. Its when you convert D2A and A2D multiple times that there might be a problem. You will also hear a lot about latency issues. Remember that latency only effects the monitoring a track- (when you hit the key you hear the note play at the same time with no delays) like playing along with a drum or bass track while recording. Latency does not effect playback. Hope that helps! -

Agreed. Once you use X over 9, you wont go back.

Do you really enjoy doing this? Ignorance is bliss for some but you seem to enjoy it more than most johnonguitar. Please knock it off. To the OP. The only issue u might have in swapping guitars is popping the monitors when plugging in. Just turn Helix down, turn the faders on your recorder down. That should work fine. There are no stupid questions here Talamasca!
