The fact that you didn't back up the individual patches might be the issue. I don't really understand why you wouldn't backup the individual presets as really, after the update, the patches being there for you to use would be of paramount importance. As screwy as these updates can be, I back every damned thing up.

This is for all those with FRFR systems that are basically designed to be disassembled for repairs. Most of these speakers are held together by screws and I've found that they do loosen after a couple of years. Heard a muted buzz on one of my JBL EON610s and decided to pull the speaker grills off and tighten all the bolts and screws behind the grill as well as the ones on the back panel. Goodbye buzz and the speakers do sound a bit... tighter. Lol * Remember not to over tighten too.

I thought it sounded really good. It seems you have more success with the strumming sound than I've had. The midrange pops too much for me. Probably because I tend to get enthusiastic when I'm strumming. Piezo pickups don't do well with that in my experience.
-
I dare say its mostly technique.

Have you considered putting an EQ block after the Cab Sim or IR block and then followed by the effects loop with your reverb going through it in your signal chain? This would achieve the sound you're looking for but with a bit more flexibility and control.

Not sure I could take a holiday from my Helix. LOL

I believe that despite all the griping we get around here and that I know I'm personally prone to it, I and most users here do love the sounds that we get out of the Helix. I think that it's so good that when it does throw us a curve ball, it's kind of a shock. It's like you're going along and everything's going, "brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, then suddenly ... wtf?" Still mostly, it's brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Happy Kwanza, Jolly Festivus, etc.

Of course, but that's not really the point we're making.

Well, you certainly couldn't do the auto-on Wah convenience but, if they made it so that between the Volume and the Wah, which ever effect is ahead of the other in the signal chain gets assigned to EXP 1. The other will have to be a controlled by an external pedal assigned to EXP2.
-
Yeah but that would only work if you always have your expression pedal at the full on toe position all the time. If you use that pedal in a mid point position so as to maintain control over and instantly compensate for slight patch volume differences, that setup won't work at all. In order to use the wah, I'd have to max out the pedal so I can step on the toe switch.
-
I would personally lean towards the DT-770 but really, it's a matter personal preference. Which one do you feel sounds best with all source material? Use that one. We all hear things in our own way so I wouldn't presume to tell you which one to pick. I can tell you that whatever patches I create using my KRK KNS-8400 translate to my JBL EON 610s very well but I would never say that the KRKs are the best. They sound good to me and I don't have issues with the patches I create using them. That's all I ask for in headphones. Unless you only plan on listening via headphones and even if you do, I wouldn't recommend headphones that make the Helix sound the best. Get ones that make everything sound good equally well.

I completely agree. I also think that to avoid confusion, the built in expression pedal should always be EXP 1. No matter which effect is being assigned to that pedal be it volume or wah, since you can really only assign one or the other, it should remain EXP 1.

Updated to 2.11 on Friday and played a gig last night. No noticeable changes in sound other than on the three presets where I changed the amp model to the Litigator. Those sound WAY better. The other thing is that since the 2.0 update I had 2 crashes and have since looked at the Helix somewhat with suspicion. Now this may all be psychological but it feels more stable.
-
I've so far had great luck with the patches I created on my KRK KNS-8400s.
-
Cheers.

I don't think you have to do anything with that file. I certainly didn't have to. I think that once the update has been applied and you've done the obligatory factory reset, the new version of the factory presets should already be there.

I think this is a matter of organization. Why exclude a piece of information that quite obviously belongs in a certain section? This is about Expression pedals and the two sentences you posted to clarify the issue, thanks BTW, would certainly have fit in Section 17 which is... surprise - about Expression Pedals. It was two sentences - easy enough to copy and paste it to the Controllers page. On a positive note, I completely love the Litigator and Archetype Clean!!
-
Now, why couldn't they have included that info in this page? EXP 2 and 3 Two additional expression pedals can be connected to Helix and assigned to adjust a wide variety of parameters. It feels like the info in the manual is scattered all over the place. Drives me nuts.
-
No wonder I got confused. In the manual, it says, EXP 2 and 3 Two additional expression pedals can be connected to Helix and assigned to adjust a wide variety of parameters. If that's the case, why did they make EXP 2 the default controller for the built in expression pedal? How does one use EXP1? Since there are connectors for external pedals for EXP 2 & 3, wouldn't it make more sense to make the internal default to EXP1? This seems needlessly confusing to me.

Oh, as a longtime Boss GT-x user and even though admittedly I've not spent a lot of time with a GT-100, my impression is that the level of audible detail and amp feel that the Helix offers is not within the Boss GT's reach. Those pedals only marginally improved over their previous models and most of the improvements were to the interface and added features. I've owned every GT-x pedal from the GT-5 through to the GT-8. I didn't buy the 10 or the 100 because to me, they didn't improve much sonically. They just had newer features and "better" interfaces.

Ah, I see. Thanks... once again, HO.

Did the update "by the book". But why does Exp 2 have to be Global? I am not using an external pedal.
-
Ok, one little issue. It seems that the expression pedal's Position is no longer tracked by the system. I've changed its settings to Global, to preset and to per snapshot. Nada. It used to be that when you set it to Global, the expression pedal's position was always tracked and you could count on your volume levels to be a certain way. Not anymore. BoooooðŸ˜
