  1. Sounds like the noise may be guitar related since you said the noise is there when you plug your guitar in. Like BillBee and Triryche are hinting towards the guitars stuff like checking the cable, the guitar jack can be at fault too. Also, your guitar could be picking up noise.
  2. I would reinstall the firmware, do the reset and then calibrate. Since I know no other recourse. I also would start completely over and this means losing all my presets and redoing them. At this point in the game for me I don't really rely on saved presets since I'm always making new ones.
  3. It could be Line 6, try again later or get the file you need from another source.
  4. Could it be that the sensor is dirty?
  5. It might be that your getting RF from the power supply. If it's a laptop try unplugging the power supply and running on battery. Also you pick up RF from other sources such as other power supplies, wall warts, TV's. microwaves, cell phones certain light bulbs....stuff like that. Sometimes it's very difficult to isolate these. Sometimes I get RF from my laptops power supply and sometimes I don't. Sometimes all I have to do is get farther away from those sources by backing away from them.

I still use my HD500 and am not disappointed in it, I have a lot of fun with that thing and will continue to until it gives up the ghost. As for people bitching??, this is not really a bad thing regardless of being a bad musician or a good one. If no one ever bitched about whatever it was that bothered them we would still be driving around in steam cars, lol. Improvements are made and we evolve because of bitching/complaining customers/users etc. etc. Also not everyone learns the same way.
  7. If you do screen shots of the XT models, which I would think is a good idea, be sure to include all the info for the effects, mixer, etc. Most of the time one screenshot doesn't cover all the angles. IMO creating patches is very particular to the person and the venue. There many tips in the forum. Have scanned through the forum? Do you play with band or by yourself with a drum machine? Are you trying to record into a DAW? All these things are going to effect how you create your patches. You can check out this patch I made recently that seemed to get downloaded a lot lately. It's high gain but you could try changing the output settings and amp model to see what gives. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/1422228/ read the description so you know some of the specifics.
  8. You should share some information about your set up such as which amp/amps you'll be using. Where do you play? What guitars do you use? and anything else you might think is pertinent. Such as what kind of tones you need/want. It's not really hard to make patches but dialing them in is the key.
  9. Pretty Cooool PunkyBoy! Thanks for sharing. I like metal and heaven knows I've worked all kinds of metal as a machinist I'm kinda liking that cardboard Strat, lol. I liked how porous it looked. lol
  10. Hahahah, I knew something was wrong, lol.
  11. Your saying you can't roll back your DT's firmware? I would say somethings wrong and you should be able to go back if you want to. Any success after you created this thread?
  12. Thanks for the clarification silverhead. That's why I put "FWIW" at the beginning of my post. I'm not really proficient with MIDI, mainly I play around with it every now and then and learn a little more each time, lol. The only keyboard I've got is the KB37 Studio (Ableton Live Lite 8) and if I want to mix that in I would plug analog L & R 1/4" outs into a BeatBuddy (stereo) which is plugged into the FX Loop (stereo) of the HD500, then out of the Pods L & R 1/4" one of which will go into the FX Return a DT50HD and the other into a Peavey VKII 20 mini. So I guess the only "note on/off" that's going on is in my computer, lol.
  13. FWIW, I can connect an iPad (old one) with MIDI Memo app and record midi sent through HD500 and DT50. I plug the MIDI Mobilizer midi in to the DT's midi out and the midi out to the HD500's midi in and connect the HD500's midi out to the DT's midi in. When I hit record on the iPad, any moves I make on either device is sent through and back to the iPad and recorded. I know it's not the preferred method of MIDI implementation but it has it's uses for me. If I orchestrate myself properly/successfully I can playback the midi that's been recorded and just play. Obviously this has it's limitations but is usable for some stuff. Very interesting this MIDI. I'm not tethered to a laptop or desktop.
  14. Have any idea why the transformer went?
  15. Maybe you should do a support ticket if it's new.
  16. I see nothing wrong with pedals or all analog and that's coming from someone who started to learn music using digital modeling, lol, If I was made of money I would most likely have an all analog rig, etc ,etc. The space I've got is limited and funds are even more limited ,lol. Actually had I had more money and room I would be building those analog tube amp kit by MojoTone and most ;likely pedals too. I'm going to have to try one of my known good monster mic cables. The cable I normally use for L6, is a short 5' AES/EBU by Hosa which I thought was the one I needed for this. Personally I think something is wrong elsewhere and I don't think it's the Pod but I can't prove it so later I'll try one of my new mic cables, which I know work which I tried briefly before with success. On the brighter side: I didn't use a midi set up with the following, I could've but I kept it simple this time, lol, took 15 minutes to setup everything and a patch from scratch. I set up a stereo amp patch with an FX Loop, inserted the BeatBuddy into the L & R FX Loop Returns and took the L & R 1/4" outs, ran one into the DT50 and the other into the Spider Jam and went to town jamming to the really good sounding BB drums. The drums sound "real" and it sound like they're in stereo. I set my patch up so the guitar was mixed with the drums by a pedal and the delay and mod rates controlled by another pedal. It was great private freestyle show, lol. Also had my KB37 run into the BB's L & R inputs.
  17. Thanks for your input. I just tried to use my L6 Link today and I couldn't get it to work at all, lol. I've previously updated both DT/HD successfully, I remember it was successful, and I always reset and recalibrate whenever I update the HD500. You should've seen my face when It didn't work, lol. I even checked MIDI Channel settings, looked good, and as far as I know unless I changed that setting it should work for sure especially with one DT. I'll have try it again later maybe I did something wrong but I don't really think so. I remember long ago before I had to send it back that when I had everything powered up and I plugged in the L6 Link I could tell intstantly that it was connected. I forget exactly what happened but I think because I had a patch on I could hear the settings getting changed in the DT. So I fooled around with some patches using Studio Direct into the DT's FX Return. Not too bad but nothing like going into the front with my guitar and using the EHX Tube EQ in the FX Loop. I think I'm going to try to put the Pod into the FX Loop just for Mod/Delay just to hear how that works.
  18. I hear Ya on the PAD! I rarely use it. Recently I've been having a blast with just the HD500 and putting a BeatBuddy in the Pods FX Loop and recording it into RiffWorks. I think I'm actually starting to understand the FX Loop much better by using it this way. Also, I'm realizing that a little noise with the high gain patches means nothing when mixed with the drums this way. Should be obvious but not always, lol. Anyway good luck on your A/B test.
  19. Try putting it in the FX Loop and then in front of a Mod and/or Delay, after the mixer. I use the built in "Boost Comp" like that all the time. Of course you usually have to make adjustments such as turn the drive down and the output up. Also the FX Loop adjustments might need tweaking. I've also used it before the amp after a distortion pedal before too. Just depends on how it sounds, lol, if it sounds like crap you have to try something else.
  20. There were more than a few people saying the same thing about the "L6 Muffle". When I plugged my guitar in the front of my DT50 and started using DT Edit to try out the models the difference to the people around me was evident. I never trust my own ears completely. I always ask someone else what they think before going forward. With sound there are many variables, just the room/venue your in can make a big difference on the final product. The DT all by itself is a great sounding tool. I find myself using my HD500 all by itself recording via USB more these days.

Sounds like your right. Maybe you could try to reinstall RiffWorks now that you have the Line 6 driver installed. Did you check Line 6 Monkey to see if your up to date?
  22. When I used the L6 Link I noticed the same thing. This why I went into the front of the amp with my guitar and used the Pod for MIDI. Another way I liked was to run the Pod into the FX Return which sounded good. I didn't spend a lot of time fiddling with the L6 Link since the amp sounded better with the guitar into the preamp of the DT. Controlling the DT with the Pod via MIDI was a better option for me. I remember others having the same difficulty. Keep in mind this is just my experience. You can check this out > http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/74045/

Did you plug in you plug in your TT, and let it start, before you open RiffWorks? Also when you were in the RW settings did you cliick on the drop down box for the ASIO choices?
  24. Your on the right track. I think if I wanted to find that I would do the "reset" and then open DT Edit on my computer and go through each channel to see what settings were used. radatats has a good point about how the engineers have designed the DT's/ HD's. I suppose it just depends on how you need to use it.
  25. Those Beyerdynamics are really nice. I use Bose AE Headphones a lot, they're like my beaters. I think the Ohmage on them is 32-35 or so. They work great for me. I also have 1 set of Beyers 990 open back in the high ohm range and like them too. I even use the "Ear Candy" ear plugs sometimes, man those sound great too, lol. It's amazing how far headphones and ear plugs have come. I was just "Fun Playing" using the Bose AE's. Here's the results
