I'm using Window 8.1 I'll try reinstalling the USB older ASIO driver, the most recent one does not work for me , and Im using a USB 2.0 port but it's a shame Firehawk FX does not work with Line6 Monkey or Variax Workbench

I hope Line 6 can get the Firehawk ASIO Audio Driver for Windows working. Compared to my HD500X , FireHawk has Nothing but distortion ( its a Kazoo) here and zero buffer controls (windows 8.1) And it's a shame that my old XT Live had far superior USB Audio routing and re-amping features not found either HD500X or Firehawk FX. The fact that these flaws passed quality control at Line -6 speaks volumes to me and has changed my mind on the further Line-6 purchases. I guess nobody at Line 6 plays rhythm guitar then take a Solo with a different preset mid song? Get your money back - Sure wish I could return mine. My typical worst case Firehawk FX Patch change noise occurs under these conditions 1 ) Select the factory preset "03C Move Like Jagger" 2) Strum a chord and let ring, and while the chord is still ringing, select factory preset "03D Tighten Up" 3) I always get a very loud high volume burst of noise duration 80 milliseconds - totally unacceptable for professional gear. Same very loud burst of noise during patch change also occurs frequently on other presets too like changing from "04C Day Tripper" to "04D 4 What Its Worth"

Use a very small drop of super glue under the nut, I use a single edged razor blade and air gun and be sure the wood under the nut is clean and oil free. If you are unsure and lack confidence - take it to a luthier

Thats not good for a product that is supposed to ship in 2 weeks - I guess the reports of October 2015 ship date for Helix are true. Not going to be fun updating firmware for 500 units prior to shipments to dealers. Of course no manufacturer mentions "patch change delay time latency" in their spec sheet, but for many pros, if it takes longer than 150 milliseconds to change form one patch to another patch - that is cause for a refund. I know this "long patch change time with sonic anomalies " aspect of the Firehawk FX was never mentioned prior to my purchase. For Line-6's sake, I hope they do better with the Helix. But I've come to expect a beta tester experience with all new Line-6 products purchased in their 1st year of production. Hopefully the Firehawk FX will not be orphaned after the next firmware update, because it often takes two or three firmware updates to achieve an acceptable product. As it stands now my Firehawk is OK for personal practice , but too embarrassing for use at a gig where I'm being paid to deliver a show

It's too high risk to update FireHawk FX firmware over Blutooth I used a Win7 PC and Firehawk USB DRIVER and Windows Firehawk FX firmware updater app

FWIW - I cultivated a routine for "patch cloning" - true its not perfect but if you follow the steps here, its should get you in the ball park Patch Cloning http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=4087.0 ----- This is more difficult because each manufacturers DSP modeler has its own peculiar strengths and weaknesses, but you can build a library of patches for your new DSP Amp Modeling multi-FX unit by reviewing the settings of patches you desire on third party pedals - as long as they have an Editor that can load patches for review "off line" without the need to own the genuine multi-FX unit for the tones you seek - recreate your favorite patches as follows: 1) Download the "Guitar MultiFX Y" patches you have interest in, and have a ballpark idea what they should sound like. 2) Install and launch the "Guitar MultiFX Y" Editor - just must confirm the Editor allows you to view and edit all patch parameters without the actual ""Guitar MultiFX Y" actually present and connected via USB. ) 3) Load the desired "Guitar MultiFX Y" patch of interest 4) Inspect and document all the control settings and FX parameters for "Guitar MultiFX Y"! (hint, use a spreadsheet app, or take many screenshots of the FX parameter Edit screens) 5) Close the "Guitar MultiFX Y" Editor 6) Launch the Editor for your current Guitar MultiFX unit, or navigate the Helix LCD. 7) Select a User patch area for "research and development" and Intialize it to clear and create a black patch area: 8 ) Then the fun begins! Use the Helix LCD and attempt to adjust all available Helix controls so they get in the ballpark of the "Guitar MultiFX Y" control settings acquired in step #4, and save it with a similar name as the "Guitar MultiFX Y" patch, but on the Helix. 9 ) Monitor your progress on Helix and listen. 10 ) Repeat Step #8 as necessary.

Very typical issue - even "new" JTV-69's suffer from this - fixed by gently lifting "up on the Model knob - to allow proper up/down travel for the "push"push" switch action

Ive had Firehawk FX since mid June 2015 Yes reading the numerous complaints here makes me wonder if we are all talking about the Firehawk FX. The Firehawk FX + my iPhone 6 Plus has became my "go to" rig for learning new songs on headphones here is a copy of my review below. http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=13416.0 -- Ive been playing with a Firehawk most of the evening. There is a lot to like about it. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/firehawk/firehawk-faq-r715 1st thing I did was install the Firehawk FX ASIO USB Driver on one of my Windows 7 machines, install the Line-6 updater 1.03 app, launched and updated the Firehawk FX to latest Firmware 1.10. Ive been using my Audio Technica ATH-M50X headphones, and JTV-69 Guitar, and Installed the Firehawk Remote IOS app on my iPhone 6 Plus - the patch change delay is not bad @ 100ms ( much faster patch to patch changes compared to the sluggish Roland GR-55) and when changing patches while streaming music backing tracks over bluetooth into the Firehawk, there are zero audio dropouts! (The FireHawk's Audio over Bluetooth wireless transfer exhibits the lowest latency I have ever experienced for an iPhone Bluetooth Audio Connection!) The LCD Display is very crisp and legible from all off axis viewing angles, and I really like that there is a dedicated Reverb knob and FX Tweak knob, without need to dive into menus if working without the Firehawk Remote Editor running an iPhone/iPad. Many factory Preset Tones are quite usable for a gig. When no Tablet or iPhone / iPad is available, the latest FireHawk FX firmware 1.10 added a "Live Edit" mode - which allows adjusting all FX parameters in stand alone mode using the Expression pedal / data wheel. The Firehawk is a bit more advanced compared to the AMPLFI products - Firehawk comes with a mix of PodFarm and HD Amp models, and the FX are decent. there is even the monophonic Synth FX from the HD500. the cool thing is that once the Firehawk is paired via Bluetooth with my iPhone 6 Plus , I can use any IOS music app - even synth apps like bs-16i. I can play the bs-16i keyboard on the the iPad screen and the audio output streams wirelessly over Bluetooth to Firehawk under 100 ms - which is rather amazing, considering all my prior Blutooth 4.0 LE audio streaming experiments had huge 300ms-600ms latency . Already I prefer Firehawk over my HD500. Firehawk is whisper quiet, excellent dynamic range - no Hum, even when I used the Normal Mag Single coil PUs on my JTV-69, and I'm in a rather noisy EMF environment in an industrial building. The Tone Matching tool actually works rather well, I was surprised that when I played arcane odd ball tunes in my iTunes library, the Line-6 Firehawk FX Tone match tool would suggest 6 or 8 patches from the cloud, and in seconds I was "in the ball park" for playing along with the tune. http://line6.com/support/topic/14293-latency-half-a-second-at-preset-change-on-firehawk/ So my questions to those who are suffering 1/2 second patch changes on Firehawk FX : * Have you updated to the latest 1.10 Firmware? * Are you using a recent IOS device that employs Bluetooth 4.0 LE ? i suspect if you are using an older IOS device or Android device that does not employ Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low Energy), (like an older 1st or 2nd gen iPad) you may suffer longer patch change times. On my Firehawk FX - some patches do take a bit longer (but never more than 200milliseconds - it depends on what FX are changing between the two patches. http://line6.com/support/topic/13511-time-between-preset-swtiching-unbearable/page-2 Occasionally I hear a momentary 50 millisecond burst jump in volume, and short chipmunk sounds if I change from a patch with long delay to a new one with short delay. but Id much rather suffer these minor anomalies instead of a painful 300millsecond silent gap on every patch change ( as occurs on VG-99, GR-55) in exchange for zero dropouts / zero mutes on Firehawk FX when streaming my Audio backing tracks over Bluetooth No lockups here , never had the "A/D" Death" lights ( which I assume is not pilot error while experiencing the new Firehawk FX "Live Edit" mode in Firmware 1.10) - but I did my research and upgraded Firehawk FX to latest firmware before I even plugged any guitar into it ( recommended) acceptable patch change Lag ( typical for competing DSP Guitar FX Modeling gear) Like all my other Line-6 gear, after two or three firmware updates, the user experience improves a lot Good Job Line-6 !
