Line 6 gets competition from Vox
stevekc replied to Dshow's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Confirmed, No alt turnings And synth is mono, I doubt they are even using a hex PU. It's a Korg DSP Design ( like all Vox gear) From my perspective the Vox guitar is using similar PU Modeling tech introduced in JamVox , but now in an onboard DSP. No USB, No Editor, No Alt Tuning, No String Splits. No interest here. -
Set the Helix Output mode to "Instrument Level" works best with Alto / Alesis speakers

Why not use the official Line-6 XPS Variax A/B switch / Power adapter and a quality 1/4" TRS cable to the Variax ( these works with all generations of variax http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/VariaxPwrKit?adpos=1o1&creative=54989263441&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=Cj0KEQjwkqKxBRCIrK_riNm13Z8BEiQAdzdVkEO9bMDYGbzPlEDa9kG-d1jb2GXmNus6SYEB155k_m0aAqRA8P8HAQ

new JTV-69 and everything is great except...
stevekc replied to PRSGuy's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
i suggest not use superglue, (or any type of cyanoacrylic glue) as most formulations are not impact resistant, and do not hold up well to being smacked ( which exactly the type of action the Model knob is subject to during gigs) . and its not the best adhesive for bonding chrome metal to plastic (that's why it fell off before) Too easy for superglue to run down into the mechanical switch below and gunk up the up / down model knob switching action Use a small drop of quality clear RTV silicone adhesive instead - (Lowes, Home Depot) or Auto parts store -

Mine did that too USA Hardware stores sell a quality clear RTV silicone adhesive I used a drop of this on my JTV-69 model knob to reglue the chrome cap -

GC Mission engineering expression pedal works backward....
stevekc replied to jaminjimlp's topic in Helix
Good to know I prefer to mod mine to 10K Linear pots to comply with typical Roland EV-5 specifications, since I'm often swapping my expression pedals between several different makes / models DSP processor types in my studio, and EV-5 is the most common type that works with all my gear.. -
GC Mission engineering expression pedal works backward....
stevekc replied to jaminjimlp's topic in Helix
Just know the Ernie Ball VP Jr. uses a log taper Pot. so the usable control range will be crowded to one end of the treadle sweep I have the same pedal and swapping the internal 25k Audio taper with a 10K Linear taper Honeywell/Clariostat 380C110K 10k ohm linear pot. High quality heavy duty construction. http://www.onlinecomponents.com/honeywell-380c110k.html?p=44002872 -

FWIW - here is the Roland EV-5 that works with a TRS cable to my XTLive, HD500X, Firehawk 10K Linear POT -
GC Mission engineering expression pedal works backward....
stevekc replied to jaminjimlp's topic in Helix
Seems to be a common anomaly with Helix and third party expression pedals all work 'backwards' Boss Expression Pedal works backwardshttp://line6.com/support/topic/16104-boss-expression-pedal-works-backwards/ -
Probably have to wait for the 2017 Helix II with faster DSPs I imagine.

Use search before posting - already have a thread covering this http://line6.com/support/topic/16196-optical-trem-does-not-use-tap-tempo/ Vote for it http://line6.ideasca...ed/788191-23508

My #1 rule, If it works - dont "fix" it - play more guitar instead! ;)

http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/helix-usb-input-volume.1629009/ if you use the Helix as a USB Class Compliant Audio interface with iPad / iPhone + Apple USB Camera Adapter(USB Host adapter) +USB Cable - IOS defaults to relying on the connected USB Hardware interface (Helix) for all volume controls for iTunes & Youtube. Id vote up on IdeaScale adding to Helix proper USB Gain controls for both USB Audio Send and USB Audio Return ( like the Zoom G3, Korg Pandora PX5D, Digitech GNX3000 have) http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/USB-input-volume-control/788236-23508

Actually "Blue" USB Ports are USB 3.0 Ports, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_3.0 and generally should be avoided for most Pro Audio Hardware interfaces http://createdigitalmusic.com/2012/06/usb-3-0-backwards-compatible-in-theory-but-some-audio-drivers-arent-cooperating/ Here is link to a third party USB 3.0 FAQ sheet -helps when troubleshooting Windows Computer systems problems for all Vendors http://support.presonus.com/entries/21526164-Is-my-AudioBox-VSL-compatible-with-USB-3-0- and Line 6 USB 3.0 info http://line6.com/support/topic/12720-fx100-upgrade-stuck-usb-30-no-progress/?hl=usb+3.0

FW 1.02.2 IS the latest version
-
There are a few pro audio vendors who might disagree http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=164417 http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=226&t=83587&sid=9217ccbc76f55f1002d58be4d74d82cf&start=175

I observe the latest Helix firmware 1.02.2 update file has wrong ZIP file extension -( its not a ZIp file), and reports an error HELIX_v1.01.2sha9c86959bundle.zip Just Rename it with the proper file *.hfx extension: HELIX_v1.01.2sha9c86959bundle.hfx Then the Line-6 Updater Application can open this Helix firmware update file and update your Helix

Just wanted to mention with FW 1.20 , the Firehawk FX's patch to patch switching time is twice as fast - compared to 2011 era Roland GR-55 and 2004 era Behringer V-Amp Pro - both of those MFX suffer much longer patch to patch switching time. FWIW the new Vypyr Pro has very fast patch change time, (even faster than a Kemper), while Axe-FX II is faster still

All you need is here http://line6.com/software/index.html Step 1 - All Helix owners with Windows computers MUST install the Helix USB Driver for Windows OS first! Step 2 - Download and install the Line 6 Updater Application http://line6.com/software/index.html Step #3 Download the latest Helix Firmware. - (this should be 2.5MB file with *.hfx file extension! ) http://line6.com/software/index.html I observe the latest Helix firmware 1.02.2 update file has wrong ZIP file extension -( its not a ZIp file), and reports an error HELIX_v1.01.2sha9c86959bundle.zip Just Rename it with the proper file *.hfx extension: HELIX_v1.01.2sha9c86959bundle.hfx Then the Line-6 Updater Application can open this Helix firmware update file and update your Helix
