Sound “hiccup” whenever Variax model is in white brackets for snap shot
silverhead replied to Blaine816's topic in Helix
As a test, try this….. manually change the model on your Variax using the model knob while a chord is ringing out. Avoid using any delays, chorus, or reverb in the preset at the time to eliminate any confusing sustaining of the original sound. Do you experience the same hiccup? If so the situation is as I described and there’s nothing to be done. If not we can investigate further. -
Sound “hiccup” whenever Variax model is in white brackets for snap shot
silverhead replied to Blaine816's topic in Helix
Hmmm. My first thought is that changing models in the Variax is akin to changing presets in Helix. There is bound to be a small audio lag as the Variax guitar loads the new model data, similar to when the Helix loads new preset data. Snapshots overcome that as far as the Helix is concerned, but remember that the Helix only sends the ‘change model’ command to the Variax when the snapshot changes. And it will send this command even if the model does not actually change in the snapshot. The actual change in the guitar sound is done within the Variax after it receives that command, even if it is commanded to reload the same model data, and that may indeed require a few milliseconds. So…. I’m not sure there’s anything to be done about it. -
So your guitar is connected directly to the Boss Looper pedal at the very front of the signal chain, before the Pod? That means the Boss looper is recording the dry unprocessed signal directly from the guitar. As the recording is being made, what you are hearing at the end of the chain is the sound of the dry recorded signal being processed by the Pod preset. Changing presets does not affect the dry recorded signal in the Boss, but it does affect the processing of that signal by the Pod. In both cases, recording and playback, you are hearing the dry guitar signal being processed by two different Pod Go presets. If you want to record the sound of the POD processing you need to place the Boss pedal as grdGo33 described, either in the FX Loop of the POD where the FX Loop block is the last thing in the signal chain before the Output block, or after the Pod and before your speakers/amp.
-
Describe your cabling setup and the position of the FX Loop in your Pod Go presets. If you have FX blocks in the preset that are positioned after the external looper when it’s playing back, then the sound of the playback will be processed further by those blocks. And on the other side of that coin, the post-looper FX blocks will not be included in the looper while it’s recording.

HELP! setting up vocal mic into HELIX LT w/ mic
silverhead replied to reverendrambler's topic in Helix
Also, I expect you’ll need to set Return 1 to Instrument level in Global Settings. -
HELP! setting up vocal mic into HELIX LT w/ mic
silverhead replied to reverendrambler's topic in Helix
I’m a bit confused because your title say ‘…. w/mic’ but in your message you say ‘…with a guitar’. I’m going to assume you want to know how to set up your Helix LT so that you process both your guitar and a mic for vocals separately. Connect your guitar to the Guitar Input. Set Path 1 Input to Guitar. Connect your mic (dynamic, not condenser) to the 1/4” Return 1 input. Use an adapter if necessary. Set Path 2 Input to Return 1. Set the Return 1 Level to get a proper input level from the mic. Edit: There is no Level setting when you use Return 1 as an Input block. Add your desired processing blocks to each path and route the output(s) to your destination device(s). -
Great preparation. Hope your gig goes well!

It may not be sending the ‘correct’ tone information but it probably is doing what it’s being told to do. It’s just a computer. I suspect the settings are wrong. Please provide more details about what you’re trying to do, what settings you are using, and what you’re observing that’s not what you expect.

Can i connect line6 helix to my focusrite scarlett interface?
silverhead replied to monkiboyjens's topic in Helix
Some reasons I can think of: - may be a need for more inputs/channels than Helix provides - may be a need for more routing options (e.g. multiple channels to the same Send) - may be a preference for (at least perceived) higher quality mic preamps -
Also… you might be able to get this setup working and tested at home before the gig if you use a Looper block here and there and move it around as required. Don’t know for sure…. Never tried that.

Not sure I understand fully, but…. Why are you using two inputs (Aux In and Return 1) for the Duet guitar? Your partner has 2 guitar inputs and no vocal input? Also, you only need to use the Return 1 (not Send 1) for your Duet Vocal (assuming you just made a typo in the above).) This would leave Send 1 available for use. But as you describe you could use Send 2 just as well.

The POD Go models are the same as the Helix models. Here’s a helpful site that will explain the underlying real gear, and in most cases provide you with a link for further details such as manuals: https://helixhelp.com/

Try using the ‘Extract Files From Backup’ feature in HX Edit. Select the backup file that was created when you updated the firmware, and select IR files for extraction. I believe this will produce a folder containing the IR files that are contained in the backup file. Compare the contents of this folder to the set of IR files listed in HX Edit. That should identify the missing ones. Then locate the missing ones on your computer and drag/drop them into the proper IR slots in HX Edit. Of course, this doesn’t explain why the error message was generated. It’s possible that there is a structural issue with those IRs; they may be rejected again.

No. The Helix Control communicates only with the Helix Rack. It will not control the DT25 in any way. You could control the DT25 with any floorboard MIDI controller or a MIDI compatible device such as the Line 6 HX FX. You would need to have your DT25 running the latest firmware and you’d have a bit of a learning curve if you’re not already familiar with MIDI.

It's time to open a support ticket to work directly with Line 6 tech support. https://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html

Sounds to me there may be different and incompatible versions of the Line 6 drivers in play. I would proceed as follows: - register your new Helix to your Line 6 account (not really necessary but helpful for any subsequent support issues) - uninstall all Line 6 stuff on your PC. You will find an uninstaller package on your PC - if you want to make backups of your existing setlists download and install HX Edit v2.30. Don’t install v3.15 yet. Make your v2.30 backups. - download and install HX Edit v3.15 and follow the detailed installation instructions, including the factory reset and backup file restoration - if necessary manually import the setlists saved from v2.30 - restart your Helix to force a rebuild of all presets to ensure compatibility with the latest firmware

In order to have the Looper continue to work when switching among presets you need to have the same type of Looper block added to all associated presets. (See manual pg 34). You say that Preset 3 has the Looper, presumably meaning that Presets 1 and 2 don't have it. That explains why you don't have access to the Looper in Presets 1 and 2. Try adding the Looper block to Presets 1 and 2. Then experiment with the results.

The only difference in all the JTV models as well as the Standard and Shuriken, US or otherwise, is in the physical build. The modeling is the same in all of them. The sounds of the models are more than 'pretty similar to each other'; they're identical. Each model has its own set of mag pickups and they do sound different.

Setting the main output volume at a high level provides a good signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio, delivering a strong clear signal to the receiving device. By that reasoning the best signal is achieved by maxing out the volume knob. But like you, I like to leave some in reserve. I tend to keep the knob at about 3 o’clock for a good compromise. Still a good strong and clean signal. You need to keep your main output volume level in mind when balancing your preset volumes. You shouldn’t put yourself in a situation where you have to adjust the main knob very often.

The purpose of a global EQ is that it is, well, … global - meaning you don’t need to change it per preset. The idea is that you would use the Global EQ if you bring your POD Go to a new venue where you won’t be using your powered monitors. You can adjust the EQ once, for all presets, to suit the different monitors. You already have a preset EQ block and you can add another one or more as an FX block if you want. Also, in Global Settings you can arrange for the Amp Out jack to be tapped before the Cab/IR block, so you can place an EQ block after the Cab/IR to affect only the Main outputs.

How to download Factory setlist after 3.15 update?
silverhead replied to jesuscares's topic in Helix
Did you buy it from Line 6 directly or from a retailer? In the latter case, it’s easy to put a returned unit back in the box and reseal the sticky tape. -
That is incorrect. Use HX Edit. Correct. HX Edit detected that your device was up to date at 3.15.

How to download Factory setlist after 3.15 update?
silverhead replied to jesuscares's topic in Helix
A firmware update, by itself, does not affect the existing presets in your Helix device. If you have no stock factory presets after the update it means they weren’t there before the update. If you want to restore the factory presets you need to perform a factory restore on the device after the firmware is updated, as is recommended in the update instructions. Of course this will replace all presets on the device so before you do that make sure you backup any setlists or presets you want to restore again after the factory reset.
