HX Stomp / change presets, snapshots and bypass FX with midi notes?
silverhead replied to Karpowicz's topic in Helix
No, that’s not possible. -
See the Controller Assign section of the manual for details on how to switch the Vol pedal control from EXP2 to EXP1.
-
Yes, you could do what you describe. This would essentially be duplicating what you can already do in Preset mode, albeit referencing only 8 presets simultaneously instead of 10. What you would lose, though, is the ability to use the footswitches for their primary purpose, namely turning individual FX models on and off within a preset. So you would end up with two ways to do one thing (select different presets) and no way to do what, to me, is a very important thing, namely turn FX on/off with a footswitch. Seems to me you have a solution looking for a problem. I think the current design of Preset/Stomp modes is a better approach.

Can I move a voice from Helix Native to HX Effects box?
silverhead replied to loonsailor's topic in Helix
Helix Native uses ‘compatibility modes’ for preset transfers. If you set Helix Native to the HX FX compatibity mode then it will restrict your preset structures and models so that they are compatible with the HX FX device. Otherwise the presets will not be compatible, leading to the behaviour you describe. -
Does a used buyer qualify for a Native discount?
silverhead replied to blaze591's topic in Helix Native
No, the new owner will not get the discount. It applies once per Helix device. -
As voxman55 said, there’s a global setting that controls the behaviour of the volume pedal setting when you recall presets. Check the manual for details.

Yep - a bit of work to do. This is almost always the case when switching modeler platforms. Presets from different product families are rarely compatible. My advice would be to start with the amp model in your HD500X that you think most closely matches the FH FX preset amp model. Ignore your FH FX detailed amp settings and experiment with the HD amp settings until you get what you like. Then proceed with the first FX block in the FH FX preset signal chain. Choose the closest HD FX block, ignore the FH FX settings and experiment with your own HD FX settings. Rinse and repeat for all remaining FX blocks in the preset. Rinse and repeat for all FH FX presets you wish to recreate.

That's true unless you want to connect your Helix to a computer. If so you need the Line 6 drivers. And HX Edit is also additional software if you want to use it - it's not necessary. As for your current driver issue, there are 2 Line 6 drivers involved. One is for DAW support (that's the one you mention). The other is for general usb audio support. Find it and download/install it. if you are still experiencing issues open a support ticket. btw... installing HX Edit first, per the installation procedures, installs both drivers.
-
Are you sure you are using the Line 6 driver, not a generic Microsoft driver? Did you follow the firmware update procedures as published in the firmware release notes? If not, I would expect two things to happen: 1) The firmware update will not work, and 2) You will have driver issues.
-
No. The device presets are incompatible. You will have to recreate them manually. Be aware that even with the exact same models and parameter settings they probably won’t sound exactly the same due to differences in the underlying modeling. Expect to do some tweaking after recreating the presets.

The DI input is being passed through to the Output block somehow. Check your Input settings (e.g. you may have Path 2 input set to guitar and have no processing blocks in Path 2). Also check your preset structure if using parallel paths; is there a signal path where the DI signal is reaching the Output block unaffected?

Cannot Import because it contained unrecognized models
silverhead replied to Cghoward's topic in Helix
The above statement indicates a potential confusion that may be at the root of the problem. HX Edit is not firmware, it is software. Updating HX Edit in itself does not update the firmware on your device. The proper procedure after downloading the latest HX Edit version is to install all components (including Line 6 Updater - you don’t need to update it separately) and the. Run the HX Edit program. It will prompt you to update the firmware. Having done that previous presets should work.- 1 reply

Maybe. The way to officially suggest this feature is to use Ideascale.

I’m not a fan of extended warranties and I have never purchased any. But I do not gig professionally and can generally afford to have my equipment out of service temporarily. But to be honest that has very rarely happened with my Line 6 equipment.

Here’s the best advice you can get - direct from Line 6 firmware update release notes. Just follow the instructions.

The scope of HX Stomp midi capabilities is described in the manual. There’s no mention of anything like you want to do.

Controlling HX Effects with Helix Control Floor Controller

HX FX will respond to any device that sends it appropriate midi commands, as defined in the midi section of the HX FX manual. -
Controlling HX Effects with Helix Control Floor Controller

No, Helix Control is not able to control the HX FX device (or anything other than Helix Rack). -
Variax not working from 1/4" output
silverhead replied to johnsetej's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
There are three ways to provide power to a Variax guitar’s modeling electronics: 1) A VDI cable connected to a compatible Line 6 device. You mention that this method is working for you. 2) A standard TS mono guitar cable in the 1/4” output along with a charged battery in the Variax guitar. 3) An external Variax power supply. In this case you need to use a TRS cable in the 1/4” output. The ‘R (ring)’ contact supplies the power to the guitar. -
No, that’s not right. Your external speakers need to be powered.
-
POD Go cannot control Powercab speaker selection. You must do it manually.
-
I have used both my older Variax 300 model and my JTV-59 with my POD Go, connecting using the 1/4” Variax analog output. I have experienced no problems. Everything works as expected.

This is proprietary information. The only people who should have it are Line 6 and their authorized service centres, and they’re not going to provide it to you.

Any DSP benefit to the HD Bean in terms of processing power because of the things mentioned is probably more than offset by the increased power of the ProX compared to the Pro (and Bean) because of the upgrade in chipset with the ProX (and not Pro or Bean). Overall I think the processing power difference is marginal, one way or the other.

The more disturbing part is the implication that someone else beat him to it.
