HD 500x with l2m and line 6 link
silverhead replied to ezaz's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Yes, as of firmware v2.1 and all subsequent releases. -
If you just want to use it in your room, not gigging, you could get a pair of active (powered) studio monitors. I recommend minimum 5" speaker. There are lots of manufacturers and models to choose from; most audio stores have a section where you can listen to a variety of models in different price ranges. Just make sure you get studio monitors, not your average stereo system speakers.

re:modelling knob on 59
silverhead replied to diggerbarnz's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
It just pulls off. You shouldn't need any special tool but if it's very tight you may need to use something to gently lever it upwards. You might try a small straight-headed screwdriver or something like that. Use cloth material to protect the body of the guitar at the leverage points. Move slowly all around the knob, gently levering it upwards a bit at a time, applying equal pressure at a few points around the circumference until you are able to pull it off manually. Don't lever it too much on one side; you may damage the gear slots inside or otherwise unbalance the knob. When replacing the knob make sure you have it positioned properly so that the correct model is indicated. -
Does stereo revert to mono when only one cable is used?
silverhead replied to kenneth0923's topic in POD HD
It depends on what POD HD model you have, and on the outputs you are using - 1/4" or XLR. The answer is usually found on the labeling of the output jacks visible on the device. Some will be stamped with something like L/MONO which indicates that the stereo signal is summed to mono if only the L output is used. Other outputs are simply labeled L or R, indicating that the output always and only delivers the L or R part of the stereo signal, even if only one of the pair is used. -
HD 500x with l2m and line 6 link
silverhead replied to ezaz's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Yes you can do that. The L2m speaker mode setting is saved with the HD500x preset, although it's not obvious. You have to manually set the speaker mode on the L2m to the desired state and then SAVE the preset on the HD500x. After doing that, the speaker mode is automatically reset each time you recall the HD500x preset. -
Never heard of anything like this before. Issues with the HD display screen, yes - but the HD affecting a computer monitor when running HD Edit? That's a new one. I doubt it's anything with the Pod HD itself, but perhaps there's some interference being caused by power cords laying alongside your USB connection? Try isolating the USB connection cord - remove other cords from proximity.

SonicPort VX and PODFarm 2.5
silverhead replied to makoelsch74's topic in Sonic Port devices / Mobile In
The SonicPort VX will work with Pod Farm v2.5 but does not include the license. You will have to purchase the license separately. -
Your question is well understood. You are correct - when switching to any preset the Pod HD recalls all settings as they were last SAVEd, not as you last left them without saving. That behaviour cannot be changed. It's not a problem/bug with the device; that's the way it's designed. The device uses ONE buffer to store all the settings of the active preset. When you switch presets the current settings in the buffer are discarded (no longer available or 'remembered') and the stored (saved) settings for the new preset are loaded into the buffer. In order to fully implement the behaviour you want you would need to have a separate buffer for all 512 presets. This is the only way to retain the unsaved settings between visits to any preset. That would mean 512 times the amount of preset RAM; not feasible or cost effective.

If you are connecting the HD500X output to your amp's guitar input, try setting the HD500X Output to Combo Front (not Studio Direct). Also experiment with using a PRE (rather than Full) amp model in the HD500X, and set your amp's tone controls as neutral as possible.

You're right - you are definitely caught up in Line 6's regional warranty structure/policy. However, Line 6 can't authorize this because that's the deal with their regional service centers. It's a two way street. Why not walk into one of your local licensed repairers and ask them to fix it under warranty despite the fact that you bought it in the US? After they say no, you can then be equally upset at them. After all, they are already upset with you for not purchasing from them; that's why they'll say no. btw ... did you pay less because you got it from the US? If so, now it's payback time.

The factory default presets are restored during the reset. If you did not save your custom presets before resetting they are gone.

Yes - you need to have the X3 connected in order for Gearbox to open an X3 tone file.

Good affordable studio monitor headphones, no EQ added

Well, not everything. Extended warranties, for instance........ -
Good affordable studio monitor headphones, no EQ added
silverhead replied to utubebenscott's topic in POD HD
I recently upgraded from lower impedance, less costly headphones to the beyerdynamic DT990 Pro. The quality improvement is very noticeable. The cheaper phones were OK; these are great. You get what you pay for in headphones. http://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/shop/hah/headphones-and-headsets/studio-and-stage/studio-headphones/dt-990-pro.html -
Well, it's not a Line 6 product issue and I have nothing more to offer to help you. Good luck.

That's one explanation. But I think the real explanation is that Jam Origin is not fast enough for any current CPU.

Screen freeze M20d
silverhead replied to darrenhowell's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
I would reinstall the firmware (it may even be an update after that long) and use the device daily for a couple of weeks if possible. If the problem reappears I would log a support ticket before the warranty expires. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/live-sound/stagescape-m20d-mixer/stagescape-m20d-firmware-120-update-information-r555 -
The main difference for me is in the modelling software. The AMPLIFi product is a clever repackaging of much older Line 6 technology while taking advantage of non-proprietary recent technology (iOS, Bluetooth). The HD is (at least for now) Line 6 state-of-the-art amp modelling technology and delivers more realistic tones and dynamics.

Not sure what you mean. Why can't you use the 1/4" output from the JTV?

Again - I don't think the X3 driver or its settings are the cause of the latency. You don't mention that you are recording, so I assume you are describing a lag/latency when just playing. I assume you are measuring latency from the instant you pluck your guitar note to the instant you hear the synthesized sound in the X3 headphones/outputs. I also assume the X3 preset/patch is doing no processing since you presumably want to send the dry signal to Jam Origin. Between those two instants, here's what's going on: - the audio signal of your guitar note is sent virtually instantly, with no internal processing and hence no latency, from the X3 to your PC's USB port - the Jam Origin software picks it up from there and must then process the incoming audio as follows: ---- convert the pitch to a note ---- generate the corresponding MIDI note on/off data (and perhaps other MIDI controller data depending on its sophistication as a MIDI processor) ---- send the MIDI data to a software-based MIDI sound synthesizer ---- which converts the MIDI to audio by applying the processing of the selected synthesizer ---- send the final audio signal back through the USB port to the X3 - the X3 then immediately, via hardware routing with no additional latency, routes the sound to its outputs. You can see that all the processing is being done outside the X3, inside your computer, by the Jam Origin software and its (or other) MIDI synthesizers. That's what's taking the time, and that's why you are hearing the lag/latency. EDIT: By the way, the Jam Origin website acknowledges its latency issues at the bottom of this page: http://jamorigin.com/docs/midi-guitar-for-ios/ ... and note that the discussion there refers only to the latency involved in its pitch conversion; the inevitable latency from the MIDI synthesizer is additional.
-
In the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices control panel item you are able to set the buffer size. Experiment with that setting. Otherwise I think the latency differences are to be found in your respective computers' settings and performance characteristics rather than the audio interface. Ask the other user what his computer settings are for the Jam Origin application.
-
But the X3 ASIO driver is only responsible for delivering the audio signal to your PC, and playing back the audio signal it receives from your computer. It does that very well, with no latency. The latency is occurring inside your computer, within the Jam Origin software, during the translation from pitch to MIDI and the subsequent processing of the MIDI data back into audio using your VST or whatever processors. The same thing would be happening if you were to substitute any other audio interface for the X3.
-
You've posted this question in the Line 6 X3 forum. Do you have an X3 involved in the connection? How is your guitar connected to your computer? I'm not sure what your knowledge and experience is with MIDI - but it's not audio. The audio is being produced by the software application on your computer, and it seems to me that you need something in your setup that's translating your guitar audio to MIDI (digital information). The X3 has nothing to do with that. Is that what Jam Origin does? I'm not familiar with the Jam Origin product, but I don't think the problem is with any Line 6 equipment or driver.
