    Future of Helix

You can take every amp in Helix and change cabs, mics, IR's, eq and come up with an almost infinite array of tones. I have a Kemper, too, and owned both Axe fx ii xl+ and ax8. I can take Helix or the Kemper and get whatever I want out of them. I use Helix when I want a small simple rig and Kemper when I want my big Mac daddy... the other is the backup rig for the one in use. Hope this helps.
  2. Yeah... that dated tone ole John is using is killing me... LoL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bwaaaaaaaaahahahahaaaaa... hehe :P
  3. Didn't look under the hood yet... did not realize a lot of the gain kicks came from the OCD... hehe
  4. I've never tried the Friedman at a gig and haven't hooked it up to the PA at the house and listened to both. Guess I'll have to give it a whirl...
  5. Ahaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we have a FW number now!!! 2.10.... hehehe
  6. Idid have to knock the highs off of a few of them... I like a little bite, but smoothed out a little.
  7. I've found mine a little dark compared to anything else. I've been using 15" coaxial powered monitor more than I have the Friedman. Not saying it's not good, but I'd have to re-EQ all my patches or start using the global EQ (which would then require me me to make more adjustments on the PA channel).
  8. Yeah, I think these were geared totally to FRFR/direct record...
  9. I purchased and downloaded right after midnite 10/19/2016... I'm assuming I have the updated ones... hehehe. Finally got to play them and they sound AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! They're great in my studio headphones, and unreal through my FRFR rig!!! Thanks, Glenn!!!
  10. This is probably where having X number of saveable global EQ presets would be nice. Build/tweak your patches on your main rig, then have global EQ presets for headphones, studio, spare FRFR, etc... I'm fortunate, if my patches sound great in my AKG's, they usually sound a little better on my main powered coaxial FRFR.
  11. Gonna have to buy me up some of those!
  12. That's scary... I can use my helix or my Kemper into my live and studio setups and get equally good tones out of both. The 2204 mod amp is unreal for me. I've even got a few presets for going into a tube power amp into a guitar cab for those moments when I want to gig with the mega amp in the room feel. I'd seriously try to contact Line 6 customer service and see what you can get out if it with them on the phone or something. Like I said, I've got a Kemper to compare side by side (and I had Axe 2 and AX8 that I got rid of after side by side with Helix). I'm not a fan boy by any shape or form. Good luck!
  13. Somebody please perma kill this thread!!! LoL!!!
  14. Agree with @DunedInDragon... use it just like you would a normal DI box.
  15. Line 6 one for volume, and a Mission pedal for misc parameters. Use the onboard pedal for Wah since I still have to have a switch versus them adding the heel down wah bypass option in a future firmware.
  16. I would probably get laughed out of the contest within 30 seconds... LoL!

    Snapshots

I still use presets since I only use 4 snapshot/4 stomp mode. However, there are a couple of presets that I could use for almost every song I play during a given night. The other handful of presets are rigged up for specific specialty songs. For most of our stuff, I use the two main presets depending on whether harder rock/rock or blues/rock/pop. My most favorite preset I could probably use all night and still not get any complaints.
  18. Congrats! You should have no problem with the learning curve! Helix is just dirt simple to me. I never seem to fight the device or the computer programming interface. Snapshots just plain ROCK!!!
