barneybrown
Hi all, I bought a second-hand HD500 at Xmas. Done lots of reading since and getting some nice sounds now. I'd like to now create a set-list (or 2) of my own; specifically, I'm looking to create a clean, crunch, heavy/lead patch for each amp. I'd like these patches to focus on the amp settings and use minimal FX if at possible; though, I anticipate having to use EQs, compression, overdrives etc. to sculpt the tone in some situations. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody has done this already and made their patches available to download. It would be really useful starting-point for me. Rocco_Crocco
If you are not aware, you can click the "Customtone" link at the top of this page (under the Line 6 logo)and you can browse all the patches people have uploaded.
barneybrown
Thanks Rocco_Crocco - I've downloaded a few patches from Customtone already but haven't really searched it in a very systematic fashion yet. I guess I was hoping that a single experienced user of the HD series had uploaded their best attempt at creating a good sound with each amp. If not, I will certainly start searching through Customtone more thoroughly in the coming weeks/months...
rd2rk
I don't remember where this came from, and it's pretty old so the new amps aren't included, but give it a try! Well, apparently I'm "Not permitted to upload this kind of file". It's a .5xs (setlist) file. If anyone knows how I can get this file to the OP, or where it originated, let me know. 16 x 4 Full Amp.5xs
Onepiece
Are there factory presets for the new model packs that I can download as a bundle?

davidb7170
rd2rk -- Try zipping the file you want to upload -- seems that's worked for others, and me, if I remember right, though I haven't uploaded anything but a couple jpg pictures, lately... duncann
Let's see...at 1 possible combination a day that's...11.18 years to experiment with every single one. Heh. Don't forget to factor in ear fatigue (I guess 1 a day accounts for this), and the fact that in that amount of time, one's hearing is bound to degrade slightly, so you'll have to start all over again, because things sound different now! rd2rk
OK BarneyBrown, in .zip form, 16x4. If this works, thanks to davidb7170!
brue58ski
Another trick to uploading those files is to change the extension to txt and then when they are downloaded you change the extension back to the original
pianoguyy
the smart thing would be to either delete the extension or name the extension as something unrecognized like 'zzz' or 'h5eZ' Many of us have windows set to hide known extensions, which makes it a pain in the tuckus to change txt to h5e
radatats
no matter how you upload files, you still are limited to the total cumulative size you have. At some point you will be unable to upload without deleting something. The best way to do it is to open a free hosting account at one of the multitude of sites available. You upload your files there and share the link here. Most free sites give you at least 5GB which is virtually unlimited for these purposes. rd2rk - nice work to try all the amps. I took your file and loaded it for HD500 and also saved it with pre amps for DT users. 16X4 Full Amps 16X4 Pre Amps PS -I use www.MyFlare.com for hosting these files. Drag and drop, easy to share the links. Totally free. Keeps my Google Drive free for my personal files.

barneybrown
Thanks for your replies everyone. I've spent much of the past week creating my own set-list (instead of writing my PhD, which is what I should have been doing). I've created 50 banks now (one bank for each amp - this includes the full bundle amps recently purchased). There are 4 patches for each bank/amp, each patch has a different microphone and altered EQ. These should work-well as starting points for each amp. I'm going to take a few days out from the guitar now and revisit the presets next week hopefully. I also need to adjust the levels so they match - then I can finally get on and write some songs! The process of going through each amp one-by-one has been very valuable, just as valuable as the presets themselves. It's given me a real feel for what each amp can achieve/where to go for certain sounds. I've actually found most of the amps very easy to dial in good sounds, in most cases simply using the default cabs and by manipulating the EQ knobs only. FYI, I use the LPF and HPF to roll-off highs and lows in each patch. I also have input set as Input 1: Guitar and Input 2: Same. Thanks for the setlist files. I look forward to giving them a go and in particular, comparing them to those I created this week.
