  1. It would work, as will any reasonably powerful and flat speaker. The L series speakers have an advantage over some of the competitors in this regard because they have a speaker emulation mode so you can turn off the cab model in Helix - this is similar to using a really clean power amp and guitar cab. I have a pair of L2T and I haven't needed to use more than 1 of them as backline, but we run a fairly quiet stage and have PA to carry the room. I am more likely to use mine as a floor monitor which is plenty for me and the band to hear and the audience gets a more consistent mix through the PA Mains. This is an area where you really have to try before you buy - or at least commit to buying. Ideally with a dealer that has a range of options where you can try them at reasonable volume.

Available from the downloads page. *apart from the horrendous latency. Line 6 can we please have a "Studio Mode" where the hardware just acts a 16 In x 6 Out USB interface? Please?

I have been trying to track multiple guitar parts for a song for a couple of weeks now and just couldn't find the right sound - and without the right sound I couldn't feel to play the parts properly. Brick wall... and then 2.30 hit so I thought "why not" and updated my Helix Floor. I thought Trainwreck had a good chance for the cleaner sounds, but it was Cartographer that ended up being used for all of the parts. I tracked listening to the Floor unit directly but just recorded the clean guitar and then in Native duplicated the patch and was able to fine tune the settings for each track to give a distinct sound for each part. And when I get to mixing the track down I will still have the option of unfreezing the tracks and tweaking/automating if needed to suit the final arrangement. Trainwreck is ideal with Snapshots - a true 8 channel amp should you need it, and what amazed me was that the settings for a nice clean sparkly neck+mid Strat turned into a full singing just breaking up Strat neck pickup, and then a full power crunch Les Paul when fed by VDI from my JTV-69 without touching any amp or guitar controls at all other than the model selector!!!

This is probably not the best place to get help with a Peavey Mixer - I would be asking here instead: https://peavey.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=28&sid=50865c7ff61227f1f4b706dd6087d681 I did notice that the Headphones can listen to the main mix - does this include the main faders, and if so is the Headphone level unbalanced or is it just the main outs? Try to narrow down where the fault may be before you go asking there.

I don't know that changing from two Native instances each running a relatively simple patch to a single instance running a much more complex double path patch is going to save much CPU, and it will be a lot more complex to set-up in the DAW. Unless you are doing real-time control I would suggest Freezing tracks (rendering with option of returning to pre-render state) - this can include automation. I did do a little bit of googling and discovered that the problem is likely to be Studio One: there are a few threads about very high CPU usage with VST, in one example a user tested using Perfect Drums on a two bar loop and on the same PC: Studio One and Cubase were at 100% CPU (all cores), Logic was at 75% of just a single core and Reaper was only 1.09%. This can explain why my toy laptop using Reaper can run more than your high spec laptop using Studio One. It is all about how the DAW instantiates the VST and communicates with it - Reaper is obviously coded very efficiently while this aspect leaves something to be desired for Studio One and Cubase. I am not going to suggest changing DAW as that is your choice but there are a few suggestions on this thread such as tweaking buffer sizes that may help you (before it all breaks down into fanboy bickering): https://forums.presonus.com/viewtopic.php?f=213&t=24534
  7. Nothing like that; mine struggles a bit with 4 instances and some bridged tape saturation and reverbs but it is only an older i3 with 4G ram and hybrid HDD. And there are some Windows updates that keep failing which it keeps insisting on trying to install. Is the workload being distributed across multiple cores or is everything running as a single thread? Are you running a 64 bit version of everything? Freezing is a good idea anyway as it forces you to make a decision about a sound and try to work with it
  8. I don't get why people want a tuner in a VST plugin. I use Reaper, if I want a real time Tuner I have ReaTune which is not only a nice tuner, but also can auto tune to custom keys and is virtually undetectable when tuning recorded tracks. I can place ReaTune in front of Native and have both UI showing so I have a tuner and Native both active and visible at the same time. I also have a standalone VST host and that also allow multiple VST per path with multiple UI visible and the ability to mute via MIDI pedal. Not trying to be critical here, but in what situation do you need to have a tuner embedded into Native that can't be met by any number of tuner VST?
  9. I got lucky once too... very rare for it to happen though. In my much younger days I spotted a Fuzz Face style pedal at a jumble sale and bought it for £20.. tried using it with my Marshall JCM900 combo and it didn't do anything that I could use so I put it in the "attic" and forgot it was there. When my purchase of Helx was being rationalised and my wife was going on about all the unused junk laying around all of the saleable stuff got put on ebay or local music store... and I found this pedal again. This time we had the internet so I tried to find it: made by Arbiter England, Treble Plus Bass written over 3 knobs and that was all I had to go on. Virtually nothing to be found at all. I turns out that is a very limited production run from late 60s treble boost that works wonderfully with amps from that generation, but not with high gain JCM900 patches. So vintage pedal from a "name" and very rare. Sold it via a specialist auction house and got nearly £300 after commission. Best £20 purchase I ever made. Used my M20d just last night for doing some recording - which it did very nicely with drummer in one room, bass in another and each getting a personal mix via monitors. Shame about the dreadful latency though - that is the one thing I wish they would fix as using an M20d as a studio interface would be a nice option. As it is I only use it this way when I need to record multiple tracks together.
  10. You might get £250 or more from ebay for it. The attic is not a good place - it won't accumulate in value like an antique. I expect that there are still a few buyers out there whether looking for a backup or a way of extending the inputs and outputs - there is a thread here somewhere about using 2 * M20d together as a 32 channel mixer and for a low price I might consider doing that.

Wow that is a good price - nobody else seems to have spotted that; everybody else is still £1,199.00 Touchmix 16 is closest in price (£32 more) and spec to M20d (equal or better on everything except L6 Link) 10 aux outs and it doesn't need additional hardware for WiFi remote control, records to USB and it now version 3 firmware. It even comes with a case at that price. I know that it is a later generation tech and highly influenced by the M20d innovation, but it is an active product while the M20d is not
  12. Should say that as the Amplifi guitar signal only goes to the woofer I would think the HD500 routed into the AUX input will work best; HD500 can easily provide compression, mic pre, eq and verb for tuning the JTV signal. This is effectively using the Amplifi as an FRFR

  14. Doh! I misread "I replaced the neck and middle pickups with SD stacks" :rolleyes: I see you have fitted string trees - do they help with the behind the nut ringing? I have toyed with the idea of fitting a bar on mine just behind the nut so that all strings go over at the same angle. Has anybody else tried that? But I am a chicken when it comes doing a permanent changes to an expensive instrument - but I suppose as it is a 2011 model I could be a bit braver.

  16. It is the only way to have a Helix patch using FX Loops compatible with a Native patch... assuming that can find plugins that match what you want in the FX loop (or route physically). Personally I don't use external pedals, but inserting synths I sometimes do and I am toying with MIDI Guitar (Jam Origin)
  17. Voted. I have no idea how easy this would be to implement though - it would seem that adding the ability to load external VST within Native (new extension to the UI required here) might be easier than to interact with the multitude of DAW choices.
  18. They can work because they are built into the final amp so know how loud the system is playing. It is meaningless in a preamp device that doesn't know what the actual volume is.
  19. You are really not giving us much to work on here. If you are using the Cali IV Lead then if you set the bass and mids to zero then there is a known Helix fault where the volume will go down by itself. Otherwise we need a few more details
  20. That's wrong. As a new guitar I would send it back unless it feels perfect in every way. If it's perfect then raise a support ticket here and ask for them to send you the correct knob. The answer the question... have you tried llooking at the manual?
  21. This is a 2nd generation tremolo system - the first generation was only on the early runs on JTV-69; it had been replaced long before production started on JTV-69s. I think you will find a thread in the hollow end of the arm - it should be pushed in and then tightened clockwise until it resists and then back to a normal playing position. If just pushed in then all of the forces when using the arm are being applied where it joins the plate with no real leverage to support, it is supposed to be screwed in. It is personal preference - you can do whatever you want and nothing is specifically wrong, but the plate is designed to be floating parallel with the body allowing a little raise in pitch and significant dive (nothing like a floyd though). You should normally slacken the strings a little bit before tightening the claw screws.
  22. This is exactly the place to ask, and we users of the gear will try and help. The 31 band eq is a Deep Tweak settings when you select the main mix output devices. The manual references but doesn't show it. Unfortunately I am in USA and my gear is in the UK so I can't check it out for you. Also can't help with missing Main Mix recording as I only ever record the Inputs - main mix would not normally be useful as the level of drums/backline in the main mix is very low if anything.

  24. I don't have an iPad and my wife's new one only appeared this morning so I haven't used iOS 11, but did you update/reinstall to the new 64 bit version of the App (sticky first post on this forum)?
  25. Any reasonable "FRFR" will be able to reproduce the sounds from a Helix at a modest volume. Some may not be as flat as others - cheaper ones having a boost in the bass and for clear vocals or at the higher end. The difference are really in how well they perform at higher volume levels. What I suspect might be factors here are possibly gain staging to the speaker, but primarily the room being particularly resonant at the low end. How is this speaker set-up? On a wooden floor even though it is designed to be a monitor and you may get a significant low end boost in additional to room resonances. PA speakers typically need to be on speaker stands and not in a corner where again low end will be boosted.
