Are they made with a special recipe containing Shakira's pubes or something? Very cool looking, but the price is.....yikes....

Windows doesn't usually like to use two soundcards at the same time. Best bet is to acquire some nice headphones with a regular old stereo 1/4" jack for the Helix. They will undoubtedly sound better than your gaming headphones, anyways.

HELIX, When will we get a new firmware update??
gunpointmetal replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
There are LOTS of us who use Edit while passing PC audio daily without issue. There is a hardware issue somewhere in chain, most likely with the Helix as its happening on multiple systems/OS, or there is another software culprit somewhere (my guess is the browser, Chrome is a HOG). I tracked 9 songs in the last couple weeks running Edit alongside Reaper passing multiple tracks of audio without an issue or even a hiccup/disconnect after leaving the system up for HOURS without using it. -
So you have had the EXACT same issues with two different Helix units on all devices? That seems very, very odd considering how many people are doing what you're doing with little to no issues. I know its stupid, and redundant, and I by no means intend to be condescending, but you are 100% sure that your Edit, Drivers, and Firmware are all on the same iteration? Edit: Have you tried a different browser? Chrome hangs/freezes on our work machines ALL THE TIME and eats A LOT of RAM, especially if we're cycling through and opening/closing a bunch of different tabs. Often times it will still appear as the largest resource hog in the control panel for 5-10 minutes after its been shut down, especially if there is any streaming audio/video windows that were used.

WTF??? My Line 6 account doesn't show any registered products?? WTF?
gunpointmetal replied to jimbohagey's topic in Helix
Point is, don't make it sound like you were supposed to get official support and service here. This is just where a bunch of people who own L6 gear hang out, and it's the internet, so there will be unnecessary and unhelpful comments along the way. Everyone (else? apparently) knows that nothing gets sorted without a support ticket. So if you need official assistance with the issue, go the official route. If you want to see if anyone else is having the issue and if they resolved it, ask here. But expect that in any given online community 30%-90% of everyone is a lollipop and you'll get some off responses. There's a lot of good info in here, otherwise. -

Actually, its a user community forum. As far as I know, L6 doesn't have any official tech support forums. -
I thought similar when this first popped up. Pretty much all cab sims prior to IR were parametric EQ approximations of guitar cabs and everyone hated it (well, not everyone, just people with ears). NEW IMPROVED OUTSIDE-THE-BOX WAY OF MAKING YOUR MODELER SOUND LIKE A BEHRINGER DIRECT BOX THAT'S BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS THAT NOBODY REALLY LIKES ALL THAT MUCH.

Export the Audio from GP7 and load it into a track in your DAW. Routing from program to program in Windows is flaky and a PITA at best.

HELIX, When will we get a new firmware update??
gunpointmetal replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
L6 should have jumped in front of Boss and got on that Strandberg ride with the Boden. After playing 7/8/9 string guitars for the last 6-7 years, any more ERG's I get are going to be headless. Neckdive and headstock weight are real when you're playing live. It's been brought up in the past and it seems L6 doesn't see enough profit in the ERG niche to start adding extra strings. I feel like the Shuriken was an attempt at getting into ERG realms, but from what I've seen IRL, there are WAY more guys with extra strings than guys with longer-scale 6s out there playing. IMHO, of course. -
Downloaded and installed the Helix drivers? Sorry if that seems condescending, but it wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone just plug something in expecting it to work like a mouse or keyboard instead of installing the proper drivers.

yeah, I mean if it doesn't get over the edge of the board, then you might need a way to lift it. The case I got all of the switches start about 1/4" above the lip at the edge of the board, so it worked out. best of luck!
-
I went with the 3M dual lock stuff and removed the feet. The Dual-Lock is pretty thick and still leaves ~ 3/8" for breathing room under the board. I mounted mine straight to the carpet with the adhesive on the velcro stuff and it hasn't budged in the last couple weeks, but we'll see how it holds up.

Helix LT Whammy/Pitch Shifter Expression pedal issue
gunpointmetal replied to LineFever's topic in Helix
It's not bad programming, because not all units are plagued with this. I've had mine for a long time now, and my expression functions as it should. Sounds like something is off by 1/2mm under the board on some units.- 28 replies

Nice! The Rosen Mesa OS Pack is my go-to.

Tell the Spanish guitar player to clean up his crap when he's not going to be there.

Get Reaper. Read about how drivers work with Windows audio.
-
Theoretically, you could have one wireless hooked up to the input of the helix and another at the output, but then you're dealing with patch cords and more power supplies unless you put it all on a board so you have everything plugged in/wired up right away.

Yes, if you want to record your jams. -
How to Record Guitar and Background Track At Same Time?
gunpointmetal replied to chieftones's topic in Helix
You'll have to find some software that lets you route audio between programs, or export from Guitar Pro and it into FL Studio. Either way you're going to have more steps then just opening FL Studio and Guitar Pro and hitting record. -
Why do Helix Cabs and IRs Need Low and Hi Cuts?
gunpointmetal replied to brain-donor's topic in Helix
If you're EQ'ing your tone (using a real cabinet) to sound good where your head is standing (assuming you ~10' in front of the cab and a few feet above the speakers direction) your EQ will most likely peel paint directly in front of the stage and be boomy and muddy at the back of the room, so you're not considering any of the audience, you're only considering yourself. If you're playing places where you're not mic'ed, your best bet is to fire your cab at the back of the stage and EQ it to sound good out front, so you're not cutting any heads or relying on directionality for your tone. -
You just need to reinstall native and redo the log-in so it can recognize your new machine. Just because you cloned the HDD to the new one doesn't mean the software sees it the same.

Why do Helix Cabs and IRs Need Low and Hi Cuts?
gunpointmetal replied to brain-donor's topic in Helix
But that guitar cab that you mic up will probably need high cuts if you put it through the PA, because proximity and the speaker response... FRFR just puts out what you put into it, its not magically adding some high end into the sound that isn't there. I'd be pretty happy if more guitar players would at least check their tones with their head at a close distance and on axis from the speaker, it wold save a lot of us from crappy guitar tones when we go to see bands live. What your rig sounds like 10' and front and 3' off axis is not an accurate representation of what the rest of us hear, especially if we're in front of a stage and the cab is at head level. Guitarist think they're swimming in tonal bliss while everyone else in the room is quickly acquiring tinnitus. -
That stuff looks pretty solid. The case I'm getting is already felted on the pedalboard side. Might have to see how difficult it would be to strip that off.

I was thinking about that, but I was concerned that those vents on the bottom might be necessary. No temperature issues?

So, I love my Helix bag, but I want to be able to plug less stuff in when I set up at a show, so I'm getting pedalboard/case that will fit my Helix, my Wireless, a Power strip, and my output cables so I can keep everything plugged in as much as possible between shows, but I was wondering how people have been securing their Helices for transport. I think its probably a little too heavy for velcro (at least for me to feel comfortable moving it around) so I was think of locating some longer screws that fit where the feet are attached and attaching it to the board that way. Has anyone tried this, or had good luck with other methods?
