If when you bought the device the license to use the Metal pack has not be transferred by the previous owner to your line6 account you will lose the pack only if you run the license manager with the POD connected to the computer. The model packs are built in the last firmware, you can not save them separately anywhere. Every POD with the last firmware installed has all the model packs already parked into the device, but only those who bought the licenses can see and use them. However the only way for Line6 to check if you are the owner of the licenses is when you run the license manager. It seems obvious that the MID potentiometer is worn out and needs to be replaced.. However FYI at the extreme very beginning - MIN position (and at the very end - MAX position) of the potentiometer course there is a very small neutral zone where the potentiometer does nothing if it moves just a little, so if you park the MID control over there no sudden value (read) changes should still occour due to transmitted vibrations or else. As you already suspected your issue seems to be hardware related. This is not a tech support board, but simply a forum attended by common users. If you want to speak with the official Line6 support guys you have to open a support ticket in the dedicated section of this site and wait for their reply with instructions. But given the described symptoms much likely they will suggest to bring your unit to an authorized service center close to you. If there are already blocks in path A you can drag the amp slot from pre-split position to path A but only after the last block in that path, and then if you want you can move the blocks after the amp slot. This is the POD HD forum (not the POD XT).. However in your case probably there is a potentiometer jittering problem.. Suggestion: Since there is a sort of very little neutral area (ie where they do nothing) at the extreme min and max setting of the potentiometers, park them all on the min position (in particular the channel volume), so there will be no risk that they suddenly read a new value due to some vibrations transferring to the pots. Compared to the 4.2.7.6 the latest 4.2.7.7 (Windows 10 - POD) driver doesn't really add any new feature or improvement specifically for the HD500 proper communication with the computer, so given that you experienced the BSOD from when you installed the 4.2.7.7, just uninstall it and reinstall the 4.2.7.6. You can use the Line6 uninstaller app to uninstall the driver, and you can download manually from this site the driver version you want, and install it. Very easy job. Why bother for boring and long to solve unnecessary problems? Impossible. The only FXs that even if it can not be part of any patch could affect all of them the same way is the Global EQ, and it works only on the POD outputs (not in the recording through USB). The headphones must be connected to the POD phones output, not to the PC. The reason is that you are using the POD as audio interface, and not the integrated AI of your PC. Also, with the POD connected to the PC, make sure that the hardware monitor level is full up. I don't use always the same scheme but when I set my POD in PRESET footswitch mode (ABCD, ie the bottom row FS work to change presets) I tend to put the gain/distortion FXs first on the LEFT side and the modulation and time based FXs on the right.. but since I often use the pedalboard footswitch mode (FS 5-8, ie all 8 FS work to switch on/off the assigned FXs) I often leave the automatic assignments (that take place when the effects are inserted in the chain) as they are, practically they reflect the order in which I put them going from my guitar to the amp and after the amp. At the end it's like using a real pedal board with all its stomboxes connected one after the other.. If you press the VIEW button you can scroll between 3 different VIEW screens: Signal Flow View, Performance View, and Big User View..
