No, you shouldn't still use the Bank/Program CC; given that you want to trigger the FS4, based on the posted previously MIDI table you should use the CC#54 (any value, doesn't matter); any time the POD wil receive the CC#54 (any value) it will change the current state on/off of FS4 (and conseguently of the assigned block). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

..regarding how to switch on/off blocks by MIDI in the current selected patch, first each of the blocks must be assigned to its footswitch, and then you can use/record the following MIDI commands to virtually press any of the footswitches in the right moment: _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Excellent!..Thanks for reporting how you solved your issue with the POD.. it will be very useful to others who have the same or similar problem you had.. Interestingly a guy recently also reported that he solved a similar issue with its HD300 by replacing the capacitors in the pre-amplifier of the guitar input, and he added also come detailed pics, his post is here: POD HD 300 problem _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

WENT ONLINE WITH PODHD500X AND NOW NOTHING WORKS
hurghanico replied to rockstar69000's topic in POD HD
Putting together the OP's keywords: "POD HD500X, ONLINE, NOW NOTHING WORKS", I guess that most likely the problem is a firmware update gone wrong.. if so I suggest to the OP to do the following steps: 1. connect the power cable will pressing the down button 2.after it the screen will say update flash. 3.connect the usb cable and run line 6 monkey program. 4.select flash memory and reinstall latest version. 5.after finishing just restart your pod. If the above procedure solved the problem, you should do also a global reset and then the pedal calibration (do a search in the knowledge base to see how) _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips -
just one cable (LP-16 out, Pod in) will do the job _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Weird model knob activity
hurghanico replied to Peacocke's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
So even if the Variax 300 belongs to the older generation such as the 500/700 (which don't use encoders), however it is using an encoder instead of a pot for the selection of models, the same encoder mounted on the JTV-69, right? So the Fullcompass info about that specific encoder are correct, right? -
Beware that anti-glare filters are not all of the same quality.. Buy a good one. In any case it shouldn't be too expensive. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

You're welcome.. When you struggle to read the screen of a smartphone or tablet due to the strong daylight, what do you do to improve the readability if you can't move to a place indoors? You could increase the brightness, or you could try to create some shade somehow around the screen. In the case of your pedal board you can't increase the brightness, but maybe you could find a way to create a bit of shadow around the display so that the direct light doesn't reach it and you can better see the names displayed. I've never tried it, but who knows, it might work. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

hurghanico replied to Peacocke's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
On Fullcompass website they wrote that the encoders I linked in my previous posts in this thread are for Variax 300 and JTV-69. So based on what you said above here about the Old Variax, should I infer that they gave wrong information about those spare parts? -
If when you bought the device the license to use the Metal pack has not be transferred by the previous owner to your line6 account you will lose the pack only if you run the license manager with the POD connected to the computer. The model packs are built in the last firmware, you can not save them separately anywhere. Every POD with the last firmware installed has all the model packs already parked into the device, but only those who bought the licenses can see and use them. However the only way for Line6 to check if you are the owner of the licenses is when you run the license manager. If you reset your device the already authorized model packs will still be visible and usable when done, just don't run the license manager if you don't own the license. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

IMO you would work much better with just the all in one floor version POD HD500X (same exact sound quality and power of the rack version) and take advantage of the Performance View full screen mode (with which you can set the LCD contrast as you like) where you can see how the FXs are arranged in the 2 (top and bottom) rows of footswitches and which of them are turned on/off: ..or of the Big User View full screen mode where you can see zoomed the preset number you are using: _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Any 9V DC, 3A (3000mA) Plug length: 15mm, Diameter: 5mm, Center Pin (negative): 2.5mm power supply will do the job.. 3A (3000mA) are necessary only if your unit is powering also a Variax, otherwise 1100mA (or more) for the POD alone should suffice: original DC-3G: .and below here a tested working good and cheap alternative: UpBright 9V AC/DC Adapter Compatible with Line 6 DC-3g _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

You could use a MIDI foot controller like the following one (one of the best bang for the buck MIDI controllers): Behringer FCB1010 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnPey_oYn8c&feature=emb_logo _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

It seems obvious that the MID potentiometer is worn out and needs to be replaced.. However FYI at the extreme very beginning - MIN position (and at the very end - MAX position) of the potentiometer course there is a very small neutral zone where the potentiometer does nothing if it moves just a little, so if you park the MID control over there no sudden value (read) changes should still occour due to transmitted vibrations or else. Try also a global reset, and then also the pedal calibration if you have the HD500/X _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

1. disconnect everything from the POD 2. connect the power cable will pressing the down button 3.after it the screen will say "update flash". 4.connect the usb cable and run line 6 monkey program. 5.select "flash memory" and reinstall latest version. 6.after finishing just restart your pod. ----------------- If it doesn't solve the problem check also if the power supply is still giving the necessary current to the device. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

The following is very cheap and it will do the job: https://support.neewer.com/product/neewer-48v-phantom-power-supply-with-adapter-and-one-xlr-audio-cable/ well, it is not as exceptional as a Neve pre amp ...but it is on par with the pre-amps found on most common audio interfaces currently on the market.. and in the POD there are a few FXs which work very well for the voice. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

As you already suspected your issue seems to be hardware related. This is not a tech support board, but simply a forum attended by common users. If you want to speak with the official Line6 support guys you have to open a support ticket in the dedicated section of this site and wait for their reply with instructions. But given the described symptoms much likely they will suggest to bring your unit to an authorized service center close to you. Your unit issue could be due to one of several malfunctioning things: capacitors, integrated circuits, etc. I suggest to check also the power supply, at times it could simply be the real culprit. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Friday 29 November will be Black Friday, and usually every year in that period Line6 makes sales for a few days with a 30% discount on model packs. Could be your chance to spend less for the Metal Pack. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Nothing strange, just normal behavior.. If there are already blocks in path A you can drag the amp slot from pre-split position to path A but only after the last block in that path, and then if you want you can move the blocks after the amp slot. Therefore if you start editing a new empty patch (ie with still empty path A) you can drag the amp slot in path A and then add other blocks directly after it. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

I see. If I had the same issue I would have done the same as you, since I live in Italy. However, I think you bought already the right encoder model, and I believe it's the same one mounted on different (not all) Variaxes. Weird model knob activity
hurghanico replied to Peacocke's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I don't really know if it could be applicable and work also for the JTV, but here follows the procedure to calibrate the Model Select Knob of the 500/700 (but it requires the Line 6 XPS box and a TRS cable) (taken from the "Variax Troubleshooting Tips" post) Q: How do I calibrate the Model Select knob on the Variax 500/700? A: Here are the instructions on how to calibrate the Model Select knob on the Variax 500/700: *Please make sure that the output from the Variax 500/700 is plugged into an amplifier or monitoring source to hear the audio beeps from the guitar. 1. Unplug RJ45 cable from guitar. 2. Turn off Power (disconnect "¼" TRS cable from guitar). 3. Turn the volume up. 4. Pull model selector knob "up" and away from the guitar body and set it to position Custom 1. 5. Set pickup selector to 4th (neck-middle) position. 6. Set tone knob to middle position. 7. Turn on power (connect "¼" TRS cable to guitar). ONCE INITIALIZED, YOU WILL HAVE APPROX. 13 SECONDS TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE: 8. Turn tone control to min and then max. 9. You will now hear a beep sequence come from the amp or monitor source the Variax is plugged into. (The beeps will NOT come from inside the guitar itself.) 10. Turn model selector from "Custom 1" through all positions up to "Custom 2" this should be timed to approximately 1 second per physical step. (Counting: "one, one thousand", making sure to turn the pot on the one). 11. You will hear a low-high-low beep when completed. 12. Model selector will now be calibrated. 13. Press the Model Select knob back in to the guitar body to the "down" position. If you hear the low-high-low beep prior to completing the entire rotation of the model select knob, unplug the "¼" TRS cable from guitar and start over again until the timing is correct. ____________________________ however in case of need the following spare Model Select encoders from Line6 are not too expensive, description says that they are for the 300/JTV-69, but I strongly suspect that they work fine also on the other JTVs. $ 9 - Line 6 24-12-0016 Model Select Encoder $ 12.50 - Line 6 50-02-0090 Model Select Encoder+assembly _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
