  1. The Force/Don't Force function can take over when in "Force" mode. Try connecting to the amp without using the HD500 and see if it's still a problem.
  2. Get a new computer or operating system recently? Has it been serviced recently? If so, was the main board changed out?
  3. After that, check for broken string ends that might be getting into the works. Make certain the guitar is registered in your account, get with Customer Support to have it serviced. Someone may have to go inside of it.
  4. Double check the downloads page to be certain that the Monkey, Workbench HD and computer operation system software are all correct for each other.
  5. Swap the knobs around with the pots, see if it solves any knob settling.
  6. 89 is a fixed bridge, made in Korea. 89F has a Graphtech Floyd Rose Tremolo bridge, also made in Korea. 89US is made in the US by one of James Tyler's people at a shop here in Southern California. There's an "F" version for that too (check out photos of Robert Sarzo with his burnt orange one 89F-US).
  7. There is no computer interfacing or editing using a computer with the MkI's. Edits and saves onboard thru the front panel only. Monkey updates came in with the MkII's. What BillBee said.
  8. There are very few bolt-on necks where I don't see tension cracks in the finish around the edge of the neck pocket, regardless of who makes them. Being seeing that for decades.
  9. Unknown Flash, or no ESN,... … that kind of problem requires a Line 6 authorized service tech, it's not a user solvable problem. Contact Line 6 Customer support.
  10. DO NOT use a phantom power supply on a dynamic mic like SM58 or SM57.
  11. "I thought a standard instrument cable was tip sleeve"--- Yes. But for active circuit guitars, TRS is the norm. Yes, more than likely a Driver thing as well. Both LED's need to be green on the VDI-to-USB interface device during the process.
  12. It's also the TRS. Guitars with active circuitry work best when using TRS ends. Been like that since at least the mid 1970's. Became the sort of de-facto standard since then.
  13. " Yes, I have the 1/4" plugged in and the battery is fully charged. "--- is the 1/4" plug a TRS, like headphone adapter? Do you hear an internal switch click when you plug it in?
  14. When headphones are plugged in, it is supposed to shut off the speakers, page-4, #9, in the manual. Unless something has changed that I'm not aware of.
  15. Good guess though, not bad. Original post is a different problem for power cycling like that. It's something that will have to be service at an authorized service center. Not a generic part you can get at the corner shop.
  16. Either the previous owner hasn't removed it from his list of gear, problem with the Flash, or there's a problem with the ESN.
  17. Which one? How long ago? 1) Tubes would be my first suspect, 2) biasing the next suspect, 3) plugging speakers into the incorrect amp output, 4) loose or mis-connected cable, 5) an interface cable, 6) short on the UI board.
  18. Intonation is different from string action. Have the entire set-up checked by someone who knows these guitars. Piezos in conjunction with pick-ups is not something every guitar tech will know how to deal with it. A Line 6 authorized tech will know and have experience with it. And they can get deep dive info from me if needed.
  19. Never had to change out a volume or presence pot before. It's typically something else related, it can fool you that way. Best to log a support ticket and have it serviced by an Line 6 authorized service technician.
  20. Who biased the power tubes and what was the bias that was used?
