Make certain you have Line 6 Updater on your computer so you can check your Firmware version. It may be a matter of re-Flashing the Firmware thru that via the USB. Try that first. https://line6.com/software/ … follow the prompts for the download.

The Variax won't update through the HD500X. You will need to use a Variax interface set-up for that. Also, there's is the Forum page Knowledge base,... And the User's Manual PDF for the Variax 500,... https://l6c-acdn2.line6.net/data/6/0a060b316ac34f05943ed7907/application/pdf/Variax 500/700 User Manual.pdf … between that you should be covered. https://line6.com/software/ … for the Downloads page for Line 6 Monkey and other applications. Follow the prompts for the Hardware, Software and for your computer OS.

Thank you Carlos. Check the the pedal compatibility list in the Line 6 Knowledge Base for the functionality and compatibility for the Spider Jam. To change channels, banks and such, this is the list to use.

No. 2GB is the limit. Check the Line 6 Knowledge Base on that for computer OS and FAT format.

Two FBV Express MKII units Simultaneously?
psarkissian replied to tvotaw9's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
Running two Express pedals from one source? NO! Don't do that. Controlling two devices with one pedal? NO! Don't do that either. -
Make certain the nub on the bottom of the tuner lines up with the mounting hole.

Tremolo: mail order retailer yes. Brick and mortar retailer may do a set-up prior to sale for the local area, since set-up is affected by climate. Set-up is done at the main hub before going out to the local retailer in your area. After traveling, the set-up may need a final dialing-in. Should be done by a guitar tech. Battery: should loosen over usage. Some thought it used to be too loose in the past. Knob top: pull off knob, four or five little drops of Krazy Glue along the top of the knob rim, put the top back on and let sit for about an hour.

I see an Output Impedance, but that's different than DC/bulk resistance. Stick with DC/bulk resistance range specified above. And the our pole spacing 50mm, theirs is 49mm and 52.6mm. The string line-up may not fall within the sweet spot of the magnetic field. That and the pick-up height would have to be adjust to prevent warbling in the signal. But since it requires a 9-Volt battery,... that makes it incompatible with our electronics, and therefore should not be used,... even if you think it can be isolated. So don't do that. This is not a passive electronics guitar that can take a modification like that. Straying too far from the specs that result in adverse affects on the function and performance can void any warranty, so proceed with caution.

Use CAT5 or CAT5e cable, no more than a 25 feet.
-
There are some good cables out there for that. Know about the active circuit stuff because I and the bass player for the band Iron Butterfly used to be among the circuit geeks of the day, who used to build and do those mods back in the mid to late 1970's. That TRS configuration eventually became the norm.

JTV69 power-up problems
psarkissian replied to gsmccoy's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Does the guitar cable have TRS (tip/ring/sleeve) connector ends? Also, being an older guitar in the bunch, it may need the guitar equivalent of a 50,000 mile check up. -
Risk to the unit? More like efficiency and performance of the guitar. Over time it can put stress on the circuit with current flow, by draining battery quicker. Been like that since the old Variax, and standard way of doing guitars with active circuits since at least the mid 1970's. Something to aware of with active guitar circuits.

JTV59 Low E very bassy sounding
psarkissian replied to the29band's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Have the set-up checked out. -
JTV69 Mag PU output terribly weak.
psarkissian replied to BucF16's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Good call Zap. Happens once in a blue moon. Also can be a contact in the 5-Way switch. -
Don't use an attenuator or L-Pad in between the power output and the speakers. Changing the output load impedance will damage the output transformer, power tubes and the speakers. And that might not be repairable. Don't do that.

Impossible to update usb driver POD XT LIVE 2004 windows 10
psarkissian replied to guitarballs59's topic in POD Pro
The latest driver is 4.2.7.6 for that product, using Windows 10. And a reminder,... make certain there are no USB hubs connect when doing a Line 6 update. -
Like the saying goes, "the only dumb question is the one that is not asked." String nut,... use Elmer's, the white glue. Thin and even. pull the Hi-E string across its nut slot to line-up the edge. There should be 2 to 2.25 millimeters (2.5mm max limit) of edge clearance between the string and the edge of the neck, so as to minimize Hi-E string edge slippage when doing string bends and pulls. Once aligned, let the glue set for a couple of hours before playing. Best have a guitar tech do it,... string change and tension up then they can do the set-up (relief, action, intonation, tremolo and pick-up height). Unless you're a well practiced guitar tech, fresh strings on a guitar like this takes practice and getting used to. Easier for me, cause I've been doing this most of my life, since my teens. You get used to it. This sort of thing happens all the time. Next time, change strings one at a time to maintain string tension on the neck. Takes practice doing one of these pulling all strings off at once. All else fails, take it to a Line 6 authorized guitar service tech.
