  1. they use percentages instead of frequencies...
  2. buy the 500 and save the rest 4 a JTV from nakas. rdgs/john
  3. I vote option #2. Pair the HD500 with a JTV and go gigging. u do not need anything else. if ther is no PA, option #1 is the only way, but I wld buy a FRFR portable unit (keyboard amp?) , use full amp models and "studio direct mode"...
  4. marco, as per gunpointmetal's post, noise gates operate the same way wherever u place them in the chain. so, the answer is still as per my post #2 abv. further reading abt noise gates: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/quickGuide#gate rgds/john
  5. assuming the Variax mode is deactivated via the "Guitar Model Selector" and the JTV is in mags mode, since mags can be used WITHOUT battery, there is NO AD conversion at all, the signal goes out thru the JTV 1/4" analogue, it continues thru the POD's 1/4" guitar input analogue and it is AD converted INSIDE the POD. if the JTV is in variax mode, AD is done as per clay-man's post. then if going out thru the JTV 1/4" jack, there is nother DA. if it goes VDI there is no extra conversion, it goes digital.
  6. unbalanced audio should not be run more than about 10 feet. balanced audio can be run both short and long distances. more dtls here: http://soundinfo.wikidot.com/ballanced-vs-unballanced-audio
  7. Gharlie, with 1/4" AD takes place @POD (Check the diagram @13:03 on the supplied link) With VDI AD takes place @the piezos. Both cases DA is done @POD's output. Check the diagram @14:07 on the foll link: http://line6.com/support/topic/6198-is-vdi-an-all-digital-signal/?do=findComment&comment=41885

  9. I believe this is not possible due 2 latency aspects. The only way 2 hear urself in real time is if u use the headphone jack of the HD500...

    Tuner problems

*After re-installing the flash memory on a POD HD500/HD Bean/HD Pro, perform a global reset on the unit by holding the LEFT ARROW (<) button as you plug-in the Power adapter.? This will clear all global settings on the POD, reset the SETLIST names to NEW FACTORY SETLIST names, but it will NOT erase USER PRESETS. also make sure to re-calibrate the onboard expression pedal of the HD500 after performing the Global Settings reset. Instructions: How to calibrate the POD HD500 Expression Pedal.
  11. just guessing, 500X and PROX r exactly the same "processing -wise". the double AD-DA conversion "latency" theoretically exists, but is not audible by the human ear...
  12. yes, just place a noise gate AFTER the FX loop block...
  13. I do not know the song, so I'll give u general ideas. there r a couple ways 2 go about smarting harmonies. The "mix" on the smart harmony seems to be "even" around 35-50% for most of the applications when creating dual guitar sounds such as Eagles, Iron Maiden, etc. 4 stereo sounds, place the smart harmony on path A or B, after amp/cab/mic, raise the mix around 50% and pan the mixer left/right. the links show examples of how 2 set up smart harmonies. 14. @alsithi: try using 12s electric (eg chime2, or even better, create a "fender 12s electric" on workbech hd) AND variags mags, as it simulates better original studio recording. play the solo with t-model. Check out our STH studio cover... Attached demo patches designed 4 live playing with JTV+HD500 direct 2 pa (notice custom tunings). stairway2heaven-demo-patches.zip
  15. ok, I was talkin' abt HD500. It seems fairly unbelievable how u can obtain 2 stereo signals from one instrument, but there r 3 tricks behind the ...scene: 1. split JTV mags from model 2. send one of them out ==> FX (TRS) send jack and the other ==> XLRs+both 1/4"s (yes, same signal, so use either the XLR's OR the 1/4"s) 3. use stereo FXs 4 converting each signal 2 stereo.
  16. ok, let us start from perapera’s routing schematics , as per ur suggestion: 1. We all(?) know that paths A+B r stereo (it is clearly stated in perapera’s routing schematics). 2. Bearing this in mind, start a new blank patch. 3. Set input1=variax mags and input 2=variax 4. Separate path A from path B right from the beginning of the chain 5. Place an FX loop last in path A. 6. Set mixer level A=mute, mixer level B=0db, mixer pan B=center 7. now what u have is the variax mags ONLY @ FX send TRS jack and variax models on BOTH XRLs (left+right) AND both 1/4" outs (left+right). 8. Place a stereo FX (eg delay, chorus, etc) on path A just b4 the FX loop and here is ur 1st stereo output. 9. Place a stereo FX (eg delay, chorus, etc) post AFTER mixer and here is ur 2st stereo output. More dtls and demo patches here http://line6.com/support/topic/7343-jtv69-hd500x-mesa-boogie-395/?do=findComment&comment=51253 now, as far as the OP q is concerned, my answer is yes, u can input 2 signals in2 the POD, and get 2 distinct stereo signals in return. is I have written in nother post of mine, HD500+JTV is n unbeatable ...wild beast!
  17. if u save a bank or even the full bundle, u MUST specify a filename. in exel with many rows and colums, all the data are stored under a single independent filename, aren't they??
  18. the "save preset as" represent a filename. the filename repsesents a "physical" storage entity which is capable of storing many parameters of a single preset, one of those being the model name. anyway, does it work? is ur problem is solved?
  19. try editing the name of the patch on the workbench hd and not the filename under which the patch is saved on the disk... model-name.bmp
  20. yea, HD500+JTV is n unbeatable ...wild beast
  21. try attached demo. designed 4 direct output, JTV t-model-3 (telecaster), fw v2 and abv. use F3 (Buzz Saw) 4 the riff deactivate F3 4 chorus/verse SATISFACTION_demo.zip
