Not sure what you mean.

Install HX Edit v3.01.

What you're talking about is a "momentary" controller. Just change the TYPE parameter of the Toggling CC assigned to the FS to MOMENTARY. You may have to change the DIM/LIT values from 0/127 to 127/0 depending upon what Value the RC-5 wants to see first.
-
If you use Toggling CCs assigned to a FS, those CCs are sent automatically (along with Instant Commands} when you load the preset. If you don't want to send the CC on Preset Load, and you want to control Memory INC/DEC using these two CCs (80/81) assigned to footswitches, DON'T use Toggling CCs, as they're not necessary and serve no function. Use regular non-toggling CCs.

IIRC, the Blues Jr has no FX Loop. Set the Stomp Outputs to INST. Don't use amps, preamps or cabs in your presets. With that amp, your HXS functions best as a simple pedalboard. If you want to utilize the amps/cabs, dump the Blues Jr for an amp with an FX Loop. Or get an FRFR cab like the L6 Powercab (or Friedman ASC10/12 or other designed for guitar FRFR). Or get a HR FRFR108/10812 (or any similar PA type powered speaker). Or get a separate power amp (SS or Tube) and one or two guitar cabs. Bottom line your amp ain't designed for use with a unit like the HX Stomp.
-
Do a Global Reset. If that doesn't fix it, open a support ticket.
-
How, exactly, is the HXS connected (which Ins/Outs)? How are the levels in Global Settings configured for those In/Outs? What levels (Inst? Line?) do the Switcher Ins/Outs expect?
-
If Everything works fine in all other configurations except through your amp, your amp, or something between the Stomp and your amp, is the problem.
-
Assume nothing. Test everything, even the cables you THINK are good (mfg defects happen). As for Global Settings, make sure that RETURN TYPE is set to RETURN.
-
Don't know what else I can do for you. You must be doing something wrong, but without putting my hands on your rig, I can't tell you what it is. What comes through the headphones is what comes out of the L/Mono Output and the Right Output. If both outputs work on a normal preset, what I said above, which works on mine, should work on yours. Check it all again, make sure (with a multimeter) that ALL of your cables, even the ones you're sure of, are working, and connected correctly.. That's all I got!

In the second example I gave, because IC1 and IC3 are different in each Snapshot, they're always sent. If the 3 Snapshots were loaded consecutively, and you then toggled between 1 and 2 or 2 and 3, all ICs would send their messages, because they're all sending different messages in each Snapshot. Only if you toggled between 1 and 3 would IC2 not re-send. Because I won't be fooled again, I used MIDI OX to test this as I typed it, and I'm on v3.01.

Once a MIDI message is sent on an IC, that IC will not send again unless a different Snapshot uses it to send a different value. SS1 IC1 = CC0; IC2 = CC1; IC3 = CC2 SS2 IC1 = CC3; IC2 = CC1; IC3 = CC4 SS3 IC1 = CC5; IC2 = CC1; IC3 = CC6 When the preset loads, CC#s 0,1 and 2 are sent When Snapshot 2 loads, CC#s 3 and 4 are sent When Snapshot 3 loads, CC#s 5 and 6 are sent SS1 IC1 = CC0; IC2 = CC1; IC3 = CC2 SS2 IC1 = CC3; IC2 = CC7; IC3 = CC4 SS3 IC1 = CC5; IC2 = CC1; IC3 = CC6 When the preset loads, CC#s 0,1 and 2 are sent When Snapshot 2 loads, CC#s 3,7 and 4 are sent When Snapshot 3 loads, CC#s 5,1 and 6 are sent If you then reload SS1 or SS3, only CC#s 0 and 2 or 5 and 6 are sent. CC#1 (IC2) won't be resent on SS1 and SS3 until after you again load SS2 (IC2 = CC#7).

Correct. Again, not much point, as you could just set up another snapshot. That's still using two footswitches (8 and 9). Unless you're talking about using Toggling CCs, which you can't do with Instant Commands. To toggle two Snapshots from one switch you'd use Snapshot Press/Hold, with press assigned to one Snapshot and Hold assigned to the other. In any case, this is a very static solution to a very variable problem, and I don't think it relates to what DD or the OP were looking to do. I could program an FCB1010 with UNO2 chip to do a LOT more than Helix is currently capable of, but with 100-300 songs, that would be one heck of an algorithm! This sort of MIDI functionality is way outside of the mission parameters of the Helix. It's never going to be everything to everybody. Modern society was made possible by specialization of tasks. 3rd party solutions are sometimes less than optimal, but necessary. To put it another way, I'd hate to see Helix become a Jack of all trades, Master of none. And I still want my pony! And the coffeemaker! Priorities, people!

Can you record the noise you're talking about? That might provide us a clue.
-
You'd need to loop the MIDI I/O, which might work (I'm on the road without a MIDI cable. Try it!), but what would be the point? Just assign a Stomp Mode switch to call the snapshot.

While using multiple Instant Commands allows for sending multiple MIDI commands on preset load and snapshot changes, a single Stomp Footswitch can send only one MIDI command at a time.

If there's no noise in the headphones or the monitors, you're hearing the sound of your amp. With a New Preset, even with single coils and the Stomp cranked, my Stomp is dead silent in both bypass modes. The only suggestion I can make is to do a Factory Reset (reboot while holding FS 2+3 - DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP FIRST!).
-
Can you describe, or better yet, record, the noise?

Global Settings>Footswitches>Preset Mode "By default, Preset footswitch mode displays eight presets (four on each row). Choose from “8 Presets,” “Preset/Stomp” (one bank of presets on the top row, switches from stomp mode on the bottom row), “Stomp/Preset” (switches from stomp mode on the top row, one bank of presets on the bottom row), “Preset/Snap” (one bank of presets on the top row, Snapshots 1-4 on the bottom row), “Snap/Preset” (Snapshots 1-4 on the top row, one bank of presets on the bottom row), “Snap/Stomp” (Snapshots 1-4 on the top row, switches from stomp mode on the bottom row), “Stomp/Snap” (switches from stomp mode on the top row, Snapshots 1-4 on the bottom row), and “8 Snapshots” (Snapshots 1-8)."

Further - don't DL the update. Install v3.01 of HX Edit and do the update from HX Edit.
-
Whenever digital doohickeys start doing weird lollipop, the first place to start is with a factory reset. I'm not sure which buttons to hold during reboot, for the regular Stomp it's 2+3. Next, make sure you're running the latest FW (v3.01). If not, start by installing HX Edit v3.01. Follow the instructions to install the FW using HX EDIT, NOT the installer. Come back if there's still a problem.

Try this: Use Smudge Mod1, not Smudge. TS (not TRS) From SEND to KC, TS from KC to L/Mono RETURN. The L/Mono Output goes to the Badcat. Right Output goes to the SD. Use a long enough Instrument cable to get around the junction box. I have only headphones to test this (away from home), but if I turn down the Path A Output Block level all I hear is Path B on the Right and vice versa - Path A on the Left when I turn down Path B.

re: effects loop impedance - this seems wrong to me...
rd2rk replied to zappazapper's topic in Helix
Once upon a time there were two different types of effects. Amps in those days did not have effects loops. All guitar effects were placed before the amp input, and were designed to take a signal from an instrument and send it to an amp that was also designed to take an instrument level signal. Studio gear, OTOH, was designed to receive and send a Line level signal for use in a studio. But guitarists wanted to use Studio gear too! Especially time based effects like delays and reverbs. Amps started appearing with FX Loops for that purpose. Some were Line level, and some had switches so that users could CHOOSE whether to use Guitar FX or Studio FX in the Loops. Eventually, the quality of Guitar FX started to catch up with that of the much more expensive Studio gear. Everybody started using guitar FX in their loops. Amps with only Line level loops were quickly replaced with Inst level FX Loops. Today, most FX Loops on Guitar amps are Instrument Level, because few guitarists still use Studio gear in their loops, and lots of Studio Gear have Inst/Line level switches, as do many Guitar amps (Blackstar for instance). Modeler designers are aware of this history and, in order to allow players maximum equipment flexibility, provide options for both Inst and Line level signals. It is truly a great time in history to be a musician! -
Set Snapshot edits to DISCARD. This forces you to REMEMBER to save the preset after each Snapshot Edit, eliminating the possibility of a faulty RECALL function (unlikely). Right click each FX Block and verify that SNAPSHOT BYPASS is CHECKED (default). Go to Snapshot 1. Set each FX Block to the Bypass state required for that Snapshot. SAVE the Preset. Go to Snapshot 2. Set each FX Block to the Bypass state required for that Snapshot. SAVE the Preset. Repeat for all 8 Snapshots. Return to Snapshot 1. SAVE the Preset. Check each Snapshot in turn. EDIT: If it's still not working, perform a Factory Reset. If it's still not working, attach your preset to your reply. There's a .001% possibility that your Helix is defective. I'm away from home and Helix, so I can't check to verify, but I'm sure that someone else here will do it.
