  1. Known bug. They're working on it.
  2. In HX Edit, below the signal chain, there's a tab labeled"BYPASS/CONTROLLER ASSIGN. Clearing the ones you don't want should solve your problem.
  3. Not got that problem here. If by sound you mean you can still hear the preset (as opposed to weird noises like static), you might want to open a support ticket. If it's static or other extraneous noise it could be a bad connector. Try other headphones. If it's on all headphones, again, support ticket.
  4. Welcome to the Digital Frontier! Rule Number 1 - READ AND FOLLOW THE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS!!! Rule Number 2 - Back up often, and always before an update (see Rule Number 1)!! Rule Number 3 - NEVER update right before a gig!
  5. You're out of DSP on that path. The new Poly stuff uses something like 45% of the DSP on a single path. If you've got a Stomp or HXFX you'll be very limited in the other effects available. If you've got the full fat Helix (Floor, LT, Rack), extend Path 1 to Path 2 and move some of the other effects down.
  6. Download and install HX Edit v3.0. Use the Check for Updates link in the lower right corner to get the latest FW. I THINK you have to update to v3.0 FW BEFORE you go to v3.01, but you can skip all the updates between v2.65 and v3.0. READ AND FOLLOW THE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS!!! After you've updated to v3.0, you need to go to v3.01 right away, as it fixes a serious problem.
  7. If you're really interested in an answer to this question, I'd post it over on TGP in the Digital and Modeling forum. Some of the L6 technical folks actually hang out over there to answer these kinds of questions. They RARELY come by this forum. Oh, and you might want to not be so combative in your wording. Honey and flies and all that. Just sayin'.
  8. Unfortunately, that's not going to work. The only latching function on Helix is CC Toggling, which is the standard method of doing BYPASS with MIDI. In fact (and I try to stay up to date), I don't know of ANY MIDI controller which will do what you want. Not that it absolutely CAN'T be done, but it would require a MIDI Translator box such as the BOME Box, which can be configured (via GUI, sold separately) to do most anything, but is serious overkill for a function like this. The FBC1010 with the UNO2 Chip can also be programmed to do this, and while cheaper than the BOME Box, is REALLY BIG. In both cases, it would cost more than a new Envelope filter, add another device to your board, and require serious programming. Having had a look at the manual, to be truthful, I can't imagine what those guys were thinking when they set it up to work that way, and since it's now a legacy product, you're not going to see an update. The closest I could come would be to use Snapshots to select the Preset and a stomp to send bypass. I've attached an example preset if you're interested. I think you're probably best served, since you're going to have that big old box on your board anyway, to just use it's own footswitches. FWIW - If I was seriously interested in a serious envelope filter (I play bass too), the BEFP is the one I'd go for! However, I don't even use Helix for bass. I actually prefer my ancient ME-50b, which has a basic envelope filter and presets, and serves for my limited EF needs. BEFP.hlx
  9. You can send two MIDI commands on Preset Load and on Snapshot Change, but stomp switches can only send one message at a time, and Snapshots will not resend a message. If you identify the device you're trying to control I can take a look at the manual to see if there's a workaround.
  10. Are you sure you didn't change anything on the iPhone? Have you tried streaming through USB from your computer? If that works, it has to be the iPhone settings. I just tested USB from my computer (3.01). Works fine. Don't have a camera kit to test with.
  11. Impedance is all about how the pickups in your guitar are loaded, which affects the frequencies sent to the effect, which is what gives those types of effects their unique tone. IIRC, the IK AXE I/O has impedance settings at it's input. Not automatic, like Helix, but if authentic tone from those effects in Native is important to you, that device is worth looking into.
  12. Restore your Global Settings from the backup you made when you did the update. You DID follow the instructions and make a backup, right?

If you search his posts on the Line6 Helix thread in the Digital and Modeling forum, you'll find his rig posts, some with videos, going back to the beginning of Helix. He's been through MANY incredible rigs, and he's an AWESOME player. Currently, he's down to using two PC212's. Awaiting video of that rig! Do check it out!
  14. Use a mixer if you have other sound sources to mix in, such as a synth and/or eDrums or vocalists. You can have separate Outputs from Helix feeding your Stagesource as stage monitor and an XLR feed to FOH. Again, if the lt2 is acting as a traditional stage monitor or the actual FOH speaker with multiple signals in it, a mixer might be called for. If it's just your guitar's stage monitor, a mixer is just a complication unless there needs to be one stage level for the band/audience and a separate personal monitor as in the setup described by @BinaryRhyme. Depends totally on the situation.
  15. It affects: The MAXIMUM output of the cab itself. IOW, if, at the default settings (-14db) you max out the VOLUME knob and think "It's not loud enough", remember that you have another 20db in reserve! This tricks a lot of people who think the PC isn't loud enough. 20db is A LOT! It also affects BOTH the XLR and USB outs. "Similar Levels" in this case is meaningless, as what you need depends on the end device being used. The USB level you need for a proper signal in your DAW may not be the same as the level needed for the same result in a DAW being fed through the XLR Out and another AI's preamps. I agree, it SHOULD be, but I also believe that I should be taller. EDIT: I know I said in the previous post when I was yelling, that the level out didn't affect the audible output of the cab. It does, but you can compensate for that with the VOLUME knob, which does NOT affect the USB/XLR outs. That's what makes it useful as a dual purpose stage monitor and FOH feed, you can adjust stage level with the VOLUME knob WITHOUT affecting the level of the XLR Out to FOH.

Check out @RubyTopaz over on TGP. Your rig is starting to sound like his! MONSTER!
  17. Maybe, but wouldn't upping the Output level on the fuzz do the same without overloading the Input to the fuzz with a hotter signal than what the single coils naturally send?
  18. IT'S NOT THE INPUT INTO THE POWERCAB! Sorry for yelling, but the whole point of my test was to show that it's the OUTPUT LEVEL to the DAW that causes the problem. Track 5 was IDENTICAL to track 4 except that I turned down the USB Speaker Output Level from -14db to -20db. That does NOT change the audible level when direct monitoring, just the level sent to the DAW over USB, or XLR when using an external AI or going to FOH with the XLR Out.
  19. Unfortunately, the effects that require a lower impedance to properly load the pickups are mostly the fuzzes that the famous single coil guys (like Hendrix - FuzzFace IIRC) relied upon for their sound, and as soon as you activate that block, "authentic" is out the window. Also, any wireless breaks the Input Impedance function, no matter how you bring the sound into the Helix, because the wireless itself loads the pickups at 1M. Unless you can change the impedance AT the transmitter, and I don't know of any wireless units that have that feature.
  20. I can see that a lot of work went into that! My only comment is that you should add a note that using a gain block first in the signal chain breaks the Input Impedance function. While there's only a few effects that expect a particular impedance, and using a wireless breaks it anyway, if you're looking for those effects to sound authentic the gain block solution won't work.
  21. Do a factory reset. If it's still happening open a support ticket.

There. Fixed it for ya! We all like what we like, and we can't know if we hate broccoli if we don't try it! Kudos for being open minded and doing the chewing!
  23. I TOTALLY disagree with your conclusion! OK, here's my test. Attached is the preset I used, and below is a screenshot which I'll explain. First, the test preset. Simple - amp, cab, IR. The IR loaded on Helix is the same IR as on the Powercab. All defaults, except I increased the Output Block level till it hit the red on Powercab (+6.0db) then backed off .5db so that hitting big power chords HARD it was in the yellow, but only VERY occasionally hit the red. That's what I recorded, BIG POWER CHORDS hit HARD! In the screenshot: Track 1 is the Helix cab - 412 Greenback25/57. Track 2 is the USER IR on the Powercab - OH 412 MBRW GNR/57. Another Greenback 25. Track 3 is the same IR, but loaded on the Helix. Track 4 is the Green Speaker at -14db (Powercab default). Track 5 is the same speaker at -20db Recording was done while Direct Monitoring on Powercab. It sounded exactly the way I'd expect it to sound in every configuration. Different but good. The recordings, played back thru the Powercab, sound just like the direct monitoring sounded. The overdriven Speaker at -14db (track 4) may have been distorting, but I couldn't really tell, since I was using the Revv Purple? I don't think it was, but at that level, it's pretty useless for a real world recording, and I've spent too much time on this already without repeating the exercise with a Clean Preset. Knocking back the Speaker Level on the Powercab 6db (to -20db) puts it right in the zone. CONCLUSION: It sounds great, it records great, and if the Speaker signal is too hot, just decrease the speaker level on the Powercab. It's late. I'm tired. I work tomorrow. I sleep now. rwandering.hlx
  24. Having had time to RTFM (BAD RD@RK! RTFM FIRST!) I've edited my initial post to reflect that. Attached is a screenshot of the settings required to NOT redline. I recorded tracks using the Powercab ASIO and the Scarlett ASIO. The only changes I made were in LIVE when I changed the ASIO from PC to Scarlett, to reflect the different cable routings. The only way I was able to get it to redline was to change the USB Mode to PROCESSED and activate the Input Echo (Track Monitor) in LIVE. The USB MODE PROCESSED setting causes the return from the DAW to be re-processed (which is not what you're after) and fed back to the DAW which, when the Input Echo is ON results in a feedback loop, which is what the redlining is. In any case, you don't want the Input Echo on, as you're monitoring direct through the Powercab. Input 2 MONITOR takes signal from an ouput on the Scarlett (when using the Scarlett ASIO) and feeds it directly to the PC power amp/speaker without re-processing it. One thing that confuses some people is recording Input levels. Using USB, with the BIG KNOB on Helix maxed or disabled, gives a recording level of approx -18 to -12db. This is as it should be to allow headroom to accomodate peaks and for further processing within the DAW. When using an external AI, USUALLY if the Channel Level on the AI (Scarlett in this case) is set to 0 (all the way left/off), that's Unity, 0.0db INPUT level to the AI. You can increase that to record a stronger signal, but the closer you get to 0db in the DAW the more likely you are to get distortion on the track.

Thanks! L6 could really use a better manual for the Powercab. Maybe with the (hopefully soon) next Powercab update.....?
