  1. In Global Settings>Ins/Outs, check to see that RETURN TYPE is set to RETURN, not AUX.
  2. I kinda thought it had more to do with certain amps. I have a mahogany DC Ibanez that I dropped a SD Hot rod set into. The neck PU sounds great, but the bridge is 16.6k, and just blows up certain amps, like the older model Fenders. Sounds GREAT with high-gain amps though!
  3. I get EQ for the sake of a specific song, but it sounds like those are your defaults just to get them to sound good. Thus my entirely logical question. I'm not attacking you. It's a serious question. It goes to why so many people (outside of metal) dislike them.
  4. What exactly is it that you LIKE about those pickups (apart from being made by EMG, you didn't say what model)? I mean, since you change virtually everything about their tone?
  5. Yep, looks like a bad switch. Open a support ticket. If it's in warranty (maybe even if it isn't) they'll take care of ya!.
  6. I'm pretty sure that ProTools only allows ProTools add-ins. I don't think you can use Native.
  7. Does the Helix Rack have a USB in? YES Can you control Helix Native with Helix Floor Control? Not directly. You need to have it connected to the Rack, with ControlCenter configured to send the proper MIDI commands over USB/MIDI from the Rack to the computer. If you decide to buy a Helix Floor to control Native, be sure to buy a HELIX FLOOR, NOT a Floor Control. They're different products, and not interchangeable.
  8. Update: This goes in the "sure wish I knew for sure what caused it OR what fixed it" digital mysteries category. When I did the two factory resets, neither time did I actually do a simple reboot. Both times I reset, tested, restored, tested, then repeated the process. End of day I shut down, opened a support ticket and posted here. Today was an off work day. When I fired it up it rebuilt the presets. Don't know why, I hadn't added anything new since the backup, and those presets had been through several reboots without rebuilding. BUT - it fixed the problem!
  9. I deleted my earlier post with test info and results, based on having had more time to mess with it and getting different results. Also, I had to do a factory reset to solve a different problem, which resulted in Helix rebuilding it's presets, and I don't know for sure that it didn't affect the result, since the other problem also had to do with the outputs. I know, confusing, PITA, etc., but what can ya do? Copied/edited from previous post: Interesting observation. To test, I set up the attached preset. Global settings: Pad Off 1/4" Outputs set to LINE (to balance with DIGITAL levels) AES/EBU Digital Output 0.0db (-60db makes no difference, not sure why) Global EQ OFF Both Path Inputs set to Guitar. WHOWATT A + C on 1A and 2A, default settings. Powercab setting is FLAT on both DIGITAL and MULTI Outs. Paths A and B split through a GAIN Block set to 0.0db 1A=1/4" 1B=DIGITAL 2A=MULTI 2B=XLR - nothing connected. included just to make sure the split on 1A isn't affected by the GAIN Block Wiring: L6 Link; 1/4" Out to PC Input 1; XLR Out to PC Input 2 New test preset attached. Switches for all four outs - Digital, 1/4", XLR, Multi Switches 8,9,10 and 11 turn the levels OFF/ON (-120db MIN; 0.0db MAX) on Paths 1A, 1B and 2A, 2B respectively. Digital, 1/4" and XLR outs sound about the same. Maybe a VERY slight difference. Due to the DA conversion on the 1/4"? Really too slight for me to say definitively, my ears are not THAT good! Here's the trick. Open the Powercab Edit App to the SYSTEM page. Switch back and forth between the Digital, 1/4" and XLR outs to get the sound in your head. Now, disconnect the L6 Link cable. Switch to the Multi out. Alternately, drop the sliders (PC app) for Input 1 and Input 2 . With both up (0.0db) and Multi active, it's louder, but I no longer hear the blanket effect. Reconnect the L6 Link cable. Same result. With all Inputs up, louder, but no blanket effect. With L6 disconnected, removed XLR and switched back and forth between 1/4" and Multi. No difference, not even level. As mentioned, between my first test and this one, I did a total factory reset. When I restored my backup AND REBOOTED, it rebuilt my presets, and seems to have resolved the issue. Not saying it will work for you, but it's worth a try. All outputs on my Helix now sound identical. Output Levels.hlx
  10. It was hard work, but we finally got to the heart of the matter. You were making a wish. A wish for a (HW) preamp? Must be, since the SW preamps for the US Double Nrm and Rev Gen Red are already in Helix and Native. So, being the helpful person that I am, and not one to hold a grudge, here's the answer I'd have given if your OP had made sense: Wrong forum. This is where you go if you're serious about suggestions for changes and improvements: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting a new idea, please search to see if it's already been proposed. If 100 people vote on the same idea presented 20 different ways, it looks like only 5 people care about it! Also, post your ideas one at a time. I for one NEVER vote for multiple combined suggestions. -------------------------------- How you managed to get age discrimination out of any of this remains a mystery. Have a nice day, and be careful with that whacky tobacky. It's not yet legal everywhere!
  11. Which brings me full circle to your original post, and my reply. Was there some intent there? A question that got lost in translation? Or were you just TROLLing for a response, and I got suckered into it?
  12. And that relates to your OP how? Wait.... I just read your edited version. Now I get it. Where can I get some of the stuff you're taking?
  13. I got mine at Radioshack. Here's Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Coaxial-Digital-Audio-Cable-Black/dp/B002876B4C/ref=sr_1_8?_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Digital+Coaxial+Cables&qid=1605227876&refinements=p_n_feature_keywords_browse-bin%3A2892862011&s=aht&sr=1-8&ts_id=597550 Try Monoprice too.
  14. That was my first thought, but, as I mentioned in the results of the tests I ran, disconnecting the L6 Link when using the MULTI out made no difference to the tone.
  15. I'd ask this at Disaster Area Support. If MIDI PC Tx and RX (transmit and receive) are set to MIDI, and the DMC is configured correctly it should work From the maual: MIDI Input: The MIDI output jack doubles as a MIDI input using a Disaster Area MIDI Y-cable (sold separately.) The MIDI input allows the DMC Gen3 to accept incoming MIDI messages and merge them in with its own data stream. ----------------- You could buy it and try it, but I'd ask first.
  16. Global Settings>Footswitches change FS3 Function to Stomp 3.

    FRFR speaker !!!

Any PA speaker/monitor should be FRFR. There's no such thing as FRFR. All modern POWERED PA speakers claim to be FRFR. They're not. Since you want an UN-powered FRFR, you have thousands of options, none of which are FRFR. Whoever says "use this or that 'cause it sounds GREAT!" is giving you an opinion. YMWV. MY suggestion is to forget about FRFR. You're using an Orange amp, you obviously like the sound of Orange amps. Get an Orange guitar cab. Done deal. OR - sell the Orange amp and get a proper "FRFR" powered cab to use with the HXS. HUNDREDS of threads here and on TGP with THOUSANDS of OPINIONS on which one is best. I use a Powercab PC112+ and/or a Headrush FRFR112. PC112+=pricey but sounds good and optimally flexible with HXS; FRFR112=cheap and sounds good. Used together, the sum is greater than the parts. FWIW - you'd be better off starting a new thread than reviving a nasty old zombie thread.
  18. In Global Settings>MIDI On Page 1 the first setting is MIDI Base Channel. By default it's set to 1. Since you've only the one device, leave/set it to Channel 1. Set MIDI Thru to OFF. On Page 3 set USB MIDI ON (useful if you're controlling the Stomp using Automation in a DAW), set MIDI PC Tx and MIDI PC Rx to MIDI+USB. In Global Settings>Footswitches set FS3 Function to Stomp 3. That changes FS3's function from Tap Tempo to Stomp. I had a quick look at the Disaster Area DMC-3XL manual. It's pretty good, but you are going to have to READ it. Maybe several times. There's absolutely no point in anyone re-typing the manual here, and your question is basically "I can't get it to work", which, even if someone here has experience with it, doesn't give us much to go on. The most important thing is to get it set to control ONE device (default), and tell it what MIDI Channel the device is on (default, if any, is USUALLY Ch 1). Sorry I can't be of more help, but the Disaster Area DMC-3XL is a complex device that packs a LOT of functions into it's 3 switches. If you don't get a reply from someone here who has a DMC-3XL, you can reach a wider audience over on The Gear Page in the Digital and Modeling forum. Post with a specific title like you used here. Welcome to the wonderful world of MIDI. Have FUN!

    Hx stomp vs pod go

Yes, if you want the latest greatest new models and like being able to use parallel paths, that would be wise. The new goodies in 3.0 won't necessarily ever make it to the PODGO.

    Hx stomp vs pod go

I have a Floor and a Stomp. I find that with the Floor, I'm constantly fiddling with more and more complex signal chains. It's nice to have a pedalboard with a WAH, 3 ODs, 3 Mods, a 3 channel amp, two delays, a Reverb, compressors... With the Stomp I'm restricted to simpler presets, and I actually PLAY more. I'm also considering a PODGO. Because it's a really nice, compact, all-in-one grab'n'go unit that would actually do everything I REALLY need. And, well, TOYS vs money in the bank....NO CONTEST!
