If the IN goes to the OUT and vice versa, Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo MIDI PC Rx and MIDI PC Tx are set to MIDI or MIDI+USB, and the Base Channel is set to the same channel as the ES-8 (default 1), then you should be good. Bad cables? Are you changing the ES-8 from the Stomp, or the Stomp from the ES-8? The Stomp will send it's PC# (01A=000), and change to whatever the ES-8 sends (000=01A). If both are sending, then when the ES-8 sends 000, the Stomp will also send 000. Maybe you're creating a MIDI feedback loop, and that's causing the error? Which is the controller, and which is controlled? If the Stomp is the controller, disable MIDI PC Rx, and vice versa? Look for other MIDI settings in the ES-8.

I don't use a MAC or Logic, all I can say is that it woks as expected in Reaper, Ableton, Cakewalk and ProTools First. I'd look into your Logic Preferences (or what ever they call it) for the problem. Or whatever audio routing options MAC uses.

Most DAWs require that RECORD be enabled on the track. Also check that the Sample Rate matches. Stomp is 44.1k.

If both units are on v2.92 AND you're using HX Edit v2.92 THEN 2. Holding footswitch 7+8 on boot restores presets and setlists ”THIS WILL OVERWRITE ALL USER PRESETS AND SETLISTS That'll get you the complete v2.92 presets. Be sure to backup up any custom (your own) presets, and any presets from the previous versions that you want to keep, as they are not the same between versions.

I forgot that I have a copy of Protools First. After reacquainting myself with it I set up the following: In Global Settings>Ins/Outs USB 1/2 Dest should be set to XLR. Guitar comes through PC112+ Playback comes through Helix XLR Remember when creating tracks to specify MONO or STEREO to get the proper choice of Inputs. Remember to disable TrackInput Monitor (button I) when recording Sorry if my previous posts were confusing. I don't use Helix as my AI (Scarlett 18i20), and I don't use Pro Tools (Reaper, Ableton, Cakewalk), so I wasn't familiar with the specific terminology. You'd think there'd be standards, but, well, lawyers.............. This should get you there.

Change the ASIO driver to Helix if you want to use the USB 7 re-amping feature. Otherwise, you'll need to send an unprocessed signal through your AI.
-
Check your S1 manual to see what level it's input expects. Line could be too hot if it expects Instrument level.

In Windows Sound Panel set Playback to Helix. That gets any streaming sources (YT, Spotify, etc) to Helix. In Global Settings>Ins/Outs, set USB 1/2 Destination to XLR. That gets the Protools and streaming signals to your monitor speakers. In Protools Preferences (or whatever they call it, I don't use Protools) in the ASIO section there's probably a way to select all of the Helix outputs to be available as Inputs. Take the Track Input from USB 3/4 or 5/6. If you use 1/2 you'll get the mixed streaming and Helix signals. Set your Presets' Output Block to Digital. That gets your Direct signal to the PC112. If you leave it set to Multi you'll also hear it through the monitors. In Protools, there will be a button on each track that allows you to monitor the track's playback. That should be OFF when recording or you'll get an echo effect caused by hearing the latency effected playback through your monitors alongside your Direct signal through the PC112.

What you're missing is that you don't need to control your signal to FOH unless there's no FOH engineer. FOH should be getting a steady signal level. You only need to control your stage level. Set the Big Knob to control the (usually) 1/4" outs to your S1s. That will ensure that FOH gets a steady signal level at all times from the XLR Outs. The FOH engineer will thank you.

Use MIDI. Configure it in CommandCenter. It works for Exp Pedals, Snapshots and Block Bypass but, AFAIK, still doesn't switch Presets in some DAWs. I think it works in Logic. RTM.

OK, I meant I'd post to the original thread, but I've lost track of it! Link?

That didn't make any sense to me either, since changing the SPEAKER level from -15 to 0 IS a BIG TIME volume boost! I tried it. No "POP", but the difference in levels of 15db is not usable. -15db on the speaker setting is equivalent to 0db on the Flat setting, because IRs are by default -18db (most vendors - mine are OH), so it roughly zeroes out. So, having time on my hands, I reconfigured my rig so that I was using the Helix XLRs and MIDI to accomplish the same thing (same preset, modded to send MIDI PC to switch presets on the Powercab). Using the default level settings, it sounds EXACTLY the same as the L6 Link configuration, but no "POP". This is what you said in your original post (but I hadn't had time to verify). Conclusion: This is a problem with L6 Link. On which end, Helix or Powercab, who knows. Recommendation: Open a support ticket with a link to your post in the Powercab thread (shorter and to the point). I'll also post this reply there.

I've never seen this particular problem before. Are you located on a major conjunction of Ley Lines? :-) But seriously, I would open a support ticket. Just copy the two posts you made about it. Unless it can be duplicated, there's probably not much they can do, but at least there's a record of it.

1) Put Sonic Port back in drawer 2) Get 1/8" Stereo to dual 1/4" Insert cable 3) In Global Settings>Ins Outs set RETURN TYPE to AUX 4) Plug the 1/8" Stereo jack into the iPhone, plug the dual 1/4" jacks into HXS Returns. Rock Out!

Per his reply to you on YT, it's one of his creations, and he didn't offer, so.....you could ask him to post it on Customtone or something?
-
Call support, sounds like a bad unit.

I'm going to guess that when you say What you mean is that there's no FX Send/Return Block. If the 1/4" out is going into the amp's FX Return, as it would be in 4cm wiring, it's bypassing the amp's preamp. If it's going into the amp's Input, then all the HX Effects are before the preamp. If I've misunderstood the problem maybe you could be a bit more specific about what's happening than "stuck in 4cm mode"?

Splashtop is "Remote Desktop" SW. You're NOT directly controlling the Helix, you're controlling the computer that's connected to your Helix and running HX Edit. If your goal is to simplify your system by replacing the big computer with a little tablet, this is the opposite. You're just adding a device (the tablet) to your existing computer/Helix setup. AND you're paying $5 a month to do it!
-
Use the Output Level on the DAW or other playback device to match the level from Helix. The EASIEST way to deal with it is to get a small external mixer, like a Behringer Xenyx502 or the like. $50. Depending on what AI you have, your BEST bet might be to run the Helix into the AI's XLRs and take the headphone out from your computer into the LINE inputs of the AI. That would allow you to record the Helix and playback audio onto separate tracks. That's how I do it in my "studio" (Helix Floor using S/PDIF instead of XLRs). At my desk (HXStomp) I just use a mixer and don't sweat separate tracks.

IIRC, after checking to see that you're not plugged in to a hub (use rear ports if using a desktop), run the L6 Updater and the update should complete normally.- 21 replies

While I described how to create a MIDI track with a LIVE performance, you've figured out how to do it manually. GOOD WORK!

Also, Helix does not have MIDI commands for "Preset Previous/Next). Your MIDI Controller would need to contain the logic "Send Current Preset -1/+1)". You'd also need to be able to send two messages at once to change Setlists - CC#032 + PC# to start at. I THINK that the Morningstar MC series can do these things. But again, programming (they have an editor) and a basic knowledge of MIDI commands is required.

That's the one. You might have to leave your finger on it for a second. If it still doesn't work, check in Global Settings>Footswitches to see if Stomp Select is set to Touch.
