  1. It gets easier (toe switch) after a while. If you've got the unit on a carpet, putting it on a hard surface helps. I use a shelf from an old cabinet.
  2. I'm using the Floor model which, for this application, is identical. I loaded LIVE10, dragged an mp3 track to one track and picked a random preset from the factory setlist. No audio drop. In fact, the balance was perfect. I also tried just double clicking a track so that it opened in the Windows Media Player, same result. I suggest: 1) If it hasn't already been done, download and install HX Edit v3.0. 2) Click the little gear thingy in the lower left corner and select "Check for Updates". Open an L6 account if you haven't already, as you'll need to sign in. 3) READ AND FOLLOW THE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS!!! 4) After the update completes, reboot the LT. Now try it again. Come back if you still have a problem, or just to report SUCCESS!
  3. Stereo sounds great at home. Sounds great recorded. For live use there's no real advantage , maybe a disadvantage, as the audience or bandmates on one side of the stage get a different part of your signal than those on the other side, and two different sounding speakers makes even less sense. However, in a live setting, running dual mono allows placing the speakers so that everyone can hear you, balances a stage and could help keep overall stage level down. Having different speakers in a supporting role like that does make a certain amount of sense, but still no real advantage to two different size speakers.
  4. In Powercab System Settings, set Input 2 = Monitor; USB Mode Normal. In your DAW, turn OFF Input Echo (track Monitor), and monitor your recording direct.

    Powercab set up.

The Input Gain settings on the Powercab only matter if you're connecting by 1/4"/XLR to Input 1/2 on Powercab. You're using L6 Link, so the Input gain is (with the BIG KNOB maxed or disabled) whatever the Preset output is, +/- the Output Block Level. So if the Output Block is 0.0db, it's the Preset Output. If you can't get the preset loud enough to trip the LED on Powercab by using gain staging (including the channel level) in the preset (or don't want to for fear of messing up "that perfect preset"), you can use the Output Block Level. The Level setting for the FLAT mode is by default 0.0db, for SPEAKER mode -15db. The purpose being (I think) so that if you switch from a cab/IR to a SPEAKER emulation, there's no volume spike (3rd party IRs are usually set at -18db, Helix Cabs are pre-compensated to 0.0db). If you don't do this (you're always using SPEAKER mode) and want more volume from the Powercab, you can turn up the SPEAKER Mode level as high as +6db. If you want the FLAT mode louder too, you can turn up that Level. If you mix and max, just remember to keep a 15db difference between FLAT and SPEAKER to prevent spikes when switching. Hope that all makes sense.
  6. I'm not quite sure what you're after when you say: If I've interpreted it correctly, attached is an example preset showing how it's done in a single path. Path A (reverb will be on the L/Mono Out, Path B (delay) will be on the RIGHT Out. Pay attention to the panning in the split and mix blocks. MichaelE.hlx

The Powercab Global settings are not the same as the Helix Global settings. Changing the Helix XLR setting to LINE means that the XLR Outs ON HELIX are set to LINE level. That will affect EVERY preset that uses the XLR Outs. Since you're using L6 Link with the Powercab, that makes no difference. You don't actually have more headroom with that XLR setting, you're just sending a hotter signal. Your FOH engineer is really the only one who cares about that (in your configuration). With the BIG KNOB maxed or disabled, you're getting UNITY GAIN (0.0db) to the Powercab. That is as it should be. To get MORE you'd crank the level on the Output Block, or the amp Channel setting, but if your LED on the PC is already lighting up the yellow, that won't be helpful. I'm beginning to think that what's going on here is a case of unrealistic expectations. 250 watts into a single 12" speaker is only ever going to be so loud. It will NEVER compete with a dimed 50/100 watt Marshall into one or two 4-12 cabs. If your hard-hitting drummer is pounding a stadium sized kit, and all that is going on in a 12x12 rehearsal space, even two Powercabs will have trouble keeping up! Then again, that won't be a problem for long, as you'll soon be deaf as a stone.....
  8. I setup two presets to behave as you described. When I go back to the first preset, I'm on Snapshot 1. Note that I'm using different preset numbers, as 99 and 106 are occupied on my HXS, but I've named the attached presets to reflect the numbers you're using. When you SAVE 99, make sure you're on Snapshot 1. Other than that, look at the way mine are configured in Command Center and see if there's a difference. ElStmp 99.hlx ElStmp 106.hlx

I think that you are overemphasizing the importance of the yellow/red LED thing. I'm NOT color blind, and I have difficulty telling the difference. I set my preset levels so that a hard strummed bar chord causes the LED to flicker from GREEN to whatever the next level is. Since I use the Output Block Level as a Clean Boost, this gives me Headroom when I hit the Boost for a Lead. Are you using L6 Link? If so, with the BIG KNOB maxed or disabled you should have 0.0db hitting the PC Input. Since @waymda uses two PCs like you, he may have more knowledge about that configuration than me, but I seem to remember reading somewhere (helpful, I know) that there was some trick to using two PCs together to get full volume.
  10. You didn't say what the problems are, or what version of the FW you're on, or what version of HX Edit. Uninstall all Line6 SW and directories. Use a Registry Cleaner to remove the final traces. IMPORTANT!!! PERFORM THE FOLLOWING STEPS IN ORDER!!! 1) Download and install HX Edit v3.0 and 2) update the FW FROM HX EDIT to v3.0. If the FW is already at v3.0, perform a Factory Reset: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's two ways to listen to streaming signals: Assuming that your speakers are connected to HX Stomp: 1) In Windows Sound Panel, set the Playback Device to HX Stomp. 2) If the Laptop has an Audio Out jack (1/8"?): Take the Audio Out from your laptop and, using an INSERT cable (1/8" stereo on the laptop end? to dual 1/4" TS), connect the dual TS ends to the L/Mono and RIGHT Returns. In Global Settings>Ins/Outs, set RETURN TYPE to AUX. If you're still getting the Code 39 error AFTER YOU'VE DONE THE ABOVE, google it. There's MANY articles about it.

I work tomorrow, so won't be able to look at it till Thursday, but maybe someone else will have a look at it.

    Powercab set up.

Open up Powercab Edit. Click on "SYSTEM". Where are your Input Gain settings? Close SYSTEM (click it again). What are your Level settings for Flat/Speaker/User IR? Are you using Helix with the BIG KNOB maxed? I read a post by a guy said he maxed every level he could find and couldn't hang with his drummer. I use the BIG KNOB maxed (0.0db) and every other level (other than amp/channel) set to 0.0, PC Volume at 1/3-1/2. Any higher I'd go deaf. If I did what that guy claimed he did my neighbors wouldn't have to call the cops, they'd hear me two miles away at the cop shop!
  13. The problem is usually Operator Error caused by not reading the update instructions. This is further complicated by not reading the previous posts in this and the 50 other threads started by folks who don't know how to use the search function. Try it, you'll like it!
  14. Available on the PC itself in GLOBAL.

    Powercab set up.

The "Global" settings available from Helix and HX Edit define the starting points for the Presets. Changing the Preset settings (saved with the Preset) overrides but does not CHANGE the Global settings. The "Global" settings available from the cab itself or from Powercab Edit (System) are different, having to do with Input behavior, Hi Frequency Trim (tweeter level), MIDI and USB. Confusing.
  16. Maybe. Just because it hasn't happened since, doesn't mean it'll never happen again. I know, kinda sux not being able to nail down a problem with absolute certainty. Such is the nature of complex systems. That's why I said to open a support ticket. They get paid to deal with the unexplainable weirdness.

    Powercab Question

Yes. If you want to switch from a preset that uses a cab/IR on the "Flat" setting to a preset without cab/IR that uses the Jarvis (Jensen) you'll need to walk over to the PC112 and change it manually.

    Powercab Question

Yes. Some presets will sound best with cab/IR, some will sound better with speaker emulation. Part of what you get for the extra $ when you buy PC112+ is the ability to automatically switch per preset. This requires the L6 Link or MIDI, so if you have a Stomp, you'd need to program MIDI for each preset. IMO, buying the basic PC112 is one of those choices which, down the road, results in "What was I thinking?!" It will never be more than it is out of the box, whereas the PC112+ will be improved upon. If initial investment is the issue, look for a used PC112+ that's still within the warranty period. The warranty is transferable.
  19. Wrong forum. This is where you go if you're serious about suggestions for changes and improvements: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting a new idea, please search to see if it's already been proposed. If 100 people vote on the same idea presented 20 different ways, it looks like only 5 people care about it! Also, post your ideas one at a time. I for one NEVER vote for multple combined suggestions.
  20. Now you know why it's step 1 in the update ! Go into Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo and make sure that USB MIDI is enabled, and the proper MIDI Channel is selected (probably the default of 1). Also set MIDI PC Rx to USB. You MIGHT also need to turn OFF MDI PC Tx. That SHOULD cover it.
  21. Restore your Global Settings from the backup you made when you updated.
  22. Yes, that's HX Edit's primary purpose. Changes made in HX Edit are instantaneously reflected on Helix, but not saved until saved in HX Edit (or on Helix).
  23. I just tested it on 3.0 and nothing has changed. Toggling CCs send on Preset Load, but not on Snapshot Load. Regular CCs do not send on either, only when the assigned FS is pressed.
  24. I'm replacing my previous reply with a better explanation and sample preset. You'll be using a TRS to dual mono 1/4" (INSERT) cable from the SEND. TIP and RING connectors should be labeled. If not, RED is usually RING. Use FX Loop L (TIP connector of the INSERT Cable) for your regular 4cm setup. Take the Laney DI out to the RIGHT Return of the Stomp. Put a Return Block R at the end of the signal chain, pull it down to create a Path B. Pull down the Mixer Block to create a 3/4 Out. Change the SPLIT Block to SPLIT A/B and PAN it hard LEFT. Add your IR on Path B, then use the RING connector to send the signal to FOH. It won't be a Balanced Out, so you'll probably want to get a DI box for it. Attached is a sample preset to demo the above. Let me know how it works out. Feidias.hlx
  25. The answer to everything you asked is YES, and the Command Center configuration is saved PER PRESET (not global). In addition, using the Instant Command feature, you can send up to 6 different messages on Preset Load AND per Snapshot. The only flaw with Command Center as far as I'm concerned is that if the footswitches are set to send toggling CCs (vs non-toggling or momentary), ALL of those will be sent on Preset Load. That feature should be configurable per footswitch. FCB1010/UNO has had this for 10 years. Embarrassing for L6 to be behind on the programming skills of a one-man shop like UNO, improving on a BEHRINGER design that they haven't improved on since it was released! I'm pretty sure I posted that on Ideascale YEARS ago, I'll have to check and post it if I didn't already. Actually, I haven't tested this with 3.0, maybe they already fixed it? I'll get back to you...
