  1. He wants to just jump between acoustic and electric without cable swapping. That means acoustic into the Fishman Input, Electric into Helix input. He could work that with an A/B box for the guitars, but that adds another gadget, six cables instead of four.

    FIZZ

For all the time I've had this thing I've been fighting fizz. You'd think I'd have figured this out. You should save this to a little text file and every time someone uses the word FIZZ copy/paste this to a reply. Better yet, make it a sticky. Oh, that's right, nobody reads those. I applied it to a particularly fizzy preset that I'd been using a single cab on with 8k/80 Hi-Lo cuts, and LO AND BEHOLD! FIZZ BE GONE! BRILLIANT! Thank you!
  3. Having re-read your OP, your idea is better. I just tried it with my amp. I've attached two sample presets to demo how I set it up. The acoustic preset has the Input Block set to MIC (unused, Variax would also work) to prevent any possible noise from the electric bleeding in. Since you're not plugging anything into the XLR or 1/4" Outputs there's no need to do anything to the Output Blocks. AcoustaFish.hlx Electrafish.hlx
  4. Even simpler: Acoustic guitar --> Fishman amp input Fishman amp FX out --> Helix Input Helix Output --> Fishman FX return In Global Settings set Helix I/O to the level required by Fishman send/return (probably Instrument), No FX block required, Helix return level adjustable with Helix Volume knob.
  5. Which is what studio engineers get paid the big bucks to know. 5 minutes on any modeling forum is enough to know that a large percentage of IR users haven't a clue. Redwirez respects their users by providing, along with the absolute widest selection of mics and mic positions, a lot of detailed info about that area of recording science - a virtual decoder ring. But who buys Redwirez IRs anymore? "That stuff is too complicated, it gives me a headache. Just tell me what sounds good!". Or (tongue in cheek) the common forum question "What's the best IR (or bass or amp or strings or) for metal?"
  6. It's been known to happen. Update to the latest version (2.82) using the HX Edit file. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! Some have said it happens when connected to HX Edit (USB). If after updating, it happens again, open a support ticket.
  7. There's no Tolerance parameter on the Input Block of the Helix, at least not the Helix Floor or LT model. If you mean Threshold, that is part of the Input Gate settings, and determines the level at which the gate cuts in.
  8. Make sure your 1/4" out is set to INST to go into the front of the amp. Crank the Stomp Volume (UNITY GAIN) and control the final volume from the amp.
  9. All IR vendors do the same thing with naming conventions. They should come with a digital decoder ring.
  10. If your amp's FX loop is Instrument level (intended to go to stomp type pedals), set the Stomp's Input/Output levels to Inst. If it's intended for rack units, set the Stomp's I/O to Line.
  11. When I think of "sequencers" I think MIDI recorder but, yes I'm familiar with the process of which you speak. I get it. You're working with that cwazy wabbit, trying to get me deeper and deeper into the wabbit hole....
  12. That was one of the best comparisons I've heard. Maybe I'll try some some his IRs, compare them to my OH, 3Sigma, Rosen/Lancaster, Redwirez....... Chasing that cwazy wabbit down the IR hole......
  13. Always something! Hopefully, if I ever need to upgrade, Focusrite will have come up with a 4th gen that has primo latency numbers. I really like their stuff, and their support is excellent.
  14. Got a reply from Focusrite. The RTL difference between 2nd and 3rd gen at 48/64 is 1ms (one-way 3.9 vs 3.4). I'm not bothered by the higher latency, I only use Native for re-amping anyway, and I'm not a good enough KB player or drummer for it to matter, but if the ZOOM UAC-8 is really getting <5ms at 48/64, at the same price, you betcha that's going to factor into my next upgrade decision!
  15. Sabrett franks are FAR superior to Ballpark franks. Not even debatable.
  16. 1) No. 2) Stomps are assignable by default. You can BYPASS an effect AND use controllers at the same time. By setting MIN/MAX values to controlled parameters, consecutive presses will toggle. 3) You can assign a parameter to a Stomp or a Snapshot, but not both (except BYPASS). 4) See above.
  17. 1. I have one. Some days I like it. 2. If you see one in the wild, take a picture, and a recording if possible. The LED lighting sounds groovey. 3. I have a couple of things for sale on Craigslist. Maybe by Christmas. 4. I have a 112 tube combo. I take the Helix into the 6v6 power section. Some days I like it. I've also tried an EHX 44 magnum into the speaker. Sounded OK. I might try a second, closed back 112 under the Combo. I might win the lotto and move somewhere where I can crank it up enough for it to matter. And the winner of the search for THE PERFECT MODELER SOLUTION IS..............TBA.
  18. If you could record the sound, that might be helpful.
  19. Thanks for the link, but any Gearslutz thread that goes past 10 posts devolves into a cat fight, so I think I'll pass on digging through that. I did send a query to Focusrite support though. Might as well have the definitive word. I'm glad I don't suffer from the same latency sensitivity as you. The price of interfaces with more than 2-4 I/O that get that low is prohibitive. I do agree about direct monitoring though, which is why I have a HX Floor and a Stomp!
  20. The only difference between the Alto and Headrush is that the Alto has a mic preamp that cuts in past halfway on the volume knob. It's RUMORED that it has a different EQ curve, but no one has proved that eitherway, and an extensive email conversation with Inmusic support failed to elicit confirmation from them. To the excellent advice given by Sascha I would add that if you use an FRFR speaker as backline, get it up off the floor. I have the HR FRFR112 on a short speaker stand.
  21. My 2nd gen Scarlett 18i20 with Reaper at 48k/24bit/128samples running on a 7th gen i7 with Win10 gets (according to Reaper) 6.1/6.1ms for 12.2ms RTL. Not great, but perfectly acceptable with Native, and better than using Helix at 5.2/15ms. I don't recall seeing any numbers indicating improved latency with the 3rd gen Scarlett interfaces over the 2nd gen. If you have a link to such, I'd be curious to know. FASTER is BETTER!
  22. I absolutely LOVE my wife. She's drop dead gorgeous, a demon in the sack, a great cook and a meticulous housekeeper. She doesn't even mind that I gig 3 nights a week for chump change and come home drunk. That's making me think about trading her in, but there's so many choices! An Italian Super Model An Asian Beauty A High School Cheerleader A Hooker from Hoboken Help me out here guys, I just can't make up my mind! ******************************************************************* I recommend that you keep the HX FX, 5153 and 212 cab, and get your wife to Roadie for you. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
  23. It is what it is. Hope you didn't throw out your Snark..... You can always post a New Feature Request over on Ideascale. "Engage Tuner without Disrupting Trails".
  24. If you're using the Stomp for recording, you should be listening to the Stomp, not the monitored sound through the DAW. Turn OFF the Stomp Track's Monitoring Button in the DAW and use the knob on the Scarlett to mix the playback tracks and the direct signal from the Stomp. Full left (counter-clockwise) is full Stomp, full right (clockwise) is full playback. FWIW - I use my Stomp as interface in my office rig. There's no latency/popping because I'm NOT listening to the Stomp through the DAW (Track Monitor Button OFF). I'm using USB 5 (LEFT/MONO) as Input to Reaper. The MAIN OUT level in the DAW gets routed to Stomp Outputs 1/2. I have all my INS/OUTS set to INST to keep overall noise down.
