Not exactly free forever. You get 3 projects stored in the cloud. Thats it There might be talk purchasing extra projects. It is still a good way to get to grips with it before purchasing. -
UX 2 Problem with S/PDIF setup
bjnette replied to Vladjar's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You want the s/pdif out of the onboard soundcard to the s/pdif to UX2 . Check your manual. I think it too is an output only. My advce is to unistall the onboard device and use the UX2 only -

I just got myself another HD500 that needs a usb repair for $130 delivered. What I want is a 3 amp set up live. Years ago Larry Carlton ran a clean Fender amp center and a Mesa and Marshal Left Right. Often the clean might have some chorus in fact he might of ran a Roland 120 centre at some stage. It was a while ago. Early 80s. To me the two amp stereo path is not enough and I have used a splitter box to a clean amp dry. I figure with 2 HD500's I can go one path dry or with chorus or the new chorus 129 amp. The other side could be clean and gointo the second HD500 FX return for the two additional Amps. Will let you know if it works. There is additional ADDA conversion and a HDPRO would be better as the second device.

I am pretty sure the UX1 is an interface, why would you have to buy an addon for it. News to me. The POD HDs are great for older PCs as save processing and it can be an iterface too. Yep it is totally sinister. Computers, software 3rd part developers and hardware all changing. IT is the rabbit hole. Welcome Alice!

You are both right. Depending where you put the FX loop and if amp is on or off.

You can get Logic to control the POHD via midi. There is a video on getting Reaper to control the POD HD which would apply to Logic. It will give you the info you need to make an informed decision. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-APGCYphtKc

One of the firmware releases had a noise bug on USB. Make sure you have the latest.

Joke mate! No need to feel dumbfounded except for our dollar which continues its downward trend. He says laughing thru his tears. By end of March at this rate where you expect it to be?

Question about new "old" models in the upcomming Metal Pack
bjnette replied to RipperShred's topic in POD HD
Thanks for the reassurance dunncan, Lets face it who is not going to get the bundle. Incidently, you have a HD500 and HD500X. I presume you'll just need to buy one bungle and install on both? I ask as I am about to pull the trigger on a HD500 in need of repair for cheap and the bungle will be an incentive if I can get it working. USB problem -
Question about new "old" models in the upcomming Metal Pack
bjnette replied to RipperShred's topic in POD HD
Oh man , only three are actually HD models, Don't tell me, there is one in each pack? It is a bit pricey for us third world countries. -
Business wise they have to charge enough to recoup costs and make some, then the price will likely go on special for those still on the fence or in poorer 3rd world Countries like Australia and just as likely a new pack(s) released. Its all good

Globa EQl is paramount for giging it should of always been in there as every room is different and great Line 6 listened!
-
I just realized the Aussie dollar continues to fall, now down 80US cent buys one of our dollars continuing to fall. just made the paks a bit pricey especially by the trend of the last year. Damn

I find you can tweak these around to make the amp feel more real. I prefer to tweak with the gain down and listen to the clean feel of the amp and tweak until it feels harder to play and more dynamic across the strings. Then I'll add gain as needed. You can do the opposite too, tweak to make it feel like a late 80s super sensitive to the touch feel with plenty of gain in there while you tweak. Ideal for tapping

Glad you have already got your replacement set up and are happy with it! Cheers

Looks like an acoustic model in the new release paks/ Will be handy and probably more to come would be a cool idea. Not sure what Pod Farm Acoustic is myself. As it is I usually use non or a bass amp model.
-
Awesome Line 6 Kudos to you. I have owned your POD HD 500 for near 3 years now. That it is still supported gives me confidence to maybe get a Variaxe Gobal EQ optional paks Awesome!

Yes there is that argument, but rather then condemn you for inexperienced deaf ears: I tend to agree. It is a personal thing. If you get average Joe to listen he is not going to hear it. If you get a beginner to play he wont feel the difference. You get the picture, thru the hardware strings and electromagnetics not everyone can discern a difference. Take the seasoned pro guitarist blindfolded, can he pick the difference of an ebony fretboard, a straight thru neck? Some can they are that experienced with guitars

I can contribute to some of your question. I seem to remember personally using a AB switch box to level match a "new tone" (No amp or FX yet) to the HD out of the loop. And set the level by the master output. Insert patch and use the HDs FX send and return ABing each time till you get unity. If you still need more volume the EQ inserted is a good idea but usually attenuation is needed. The other way is by using a meter to measure the voltage. Lack of bottom end is indicative of a phase shift which may occur as the HD's Send is a stereo TRS and complaints around the forums the HD being a tone suck are because of this. Using a normal TS jack summing to mono causes a phase shift depending on what gets put in the chain in the HD. Remember the HD are a dual stereo input. Ideally run a cable single TRS jack into a two TS jacks and run two amps.(Also known as an insert cable to patch into a console channel. at an insert point.) If you got one amp and no meter try using the insert cable and leave one TS free (insulate with tape and compare with a TR to TS cable and use your ears listen for any loss. Do it for every FX you insert in the HD. You can also get a Sound level meter as an app on your iphone and measure the sound when connected via the HD FX loop and then direct into amp with nothing in amp FX loop. Level match channel to channel on the amp Measure using each amp channel using send return level and level match patch to patch via HDs mixer after the amp block (insert am and switch off.) It is okay to just use your ears.

Re reading the topic is like, Is this a break up? Is this a break up? What do you mean see other people? LOL

Growing trend, I doubt that from actual users. Out of the tens of thousand of users the amount of farewells is probably the lowest percentage of the lot. But I do see some professional jealousy in other forums knocking the HDs. Some are downright nonsense and just are obvious from fractal and especially Avid users. Man those guys really hate the POD HDs. One must make up ones own ears about anything subjective like tone. There are plenty of good modelers out there,Line 6 being one of them and it pays to get to grips with it. One criticism of most of them is how they are multi functional and appear complicated at first. Perhaps the HDs might be at the top of that list.

It must be hard for any company to keep a new release under wraps till NAMM. Best get some hype on it early unless there isn't much to rave about
