I suppose it might be nice being Steve Vai for a while, but no, I'm not him. Just someone that greatly admires his guitar playing and music writing.

Video Description: Hey Folks, Vai here. I wanted to challenge myself for my 60th birthday and decided to record a simple trio track. I gave myself some parameters to work within. I told myself I would use a Strat style guitar, (tougher for me to play then a Jem) use a very clean tone, (not conventional for me) no whammy bar, (that’s like losing a body part for me) and no pick, just fingers (way out of my comfort zone). I also had this idea for a particular type of riff that can only really be played on a guitar with no whammy bar. It’s a technique that I call “joint shifting." This is where you bend a note while fretting another, but I wanted to do this technique with a combination of double and triple stop single note bends while fretting other notes and releasing bends. After considerable experimenting, I discovered it created a unique sounding passage. You can hear this technique on a few sections of the song. I certainly hope other ambitious guitar player see the potential in this technique and take it to the moon! We shot this quick little video of me performing the track at my Harmony Hut studio. During this period, the world is slowly starting to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. Many people are still facing challenges and are eager to find entertainment on the internet. I have seen the best come out in many people during this challenging time. When people join together with a common positive intention, the power surge they create within the collective is the healing element that is most needed. Like many little candles coming together to burn as bright as a star. I needed a title for the song, and with the above in mind, and the fact that it’s my 60th, I choose the title “Candle Power." We are even issuing a limited edition commemorative “Candle Power” candle in the new vai.com merch store that also comes with a high-quality download of the song: www.vaimerch.com Enjoy! There are three of those type of flanged washers: 30-03-0069: has the largest flange 30-03-0075: same length as first listed part, but the flange is smaller 30-03-0074: same size flange as first listed part, but part length is shorter These came in the kit mentioned by lungho. Each part is individually bagged with a part number sticker.

I was one that was glad they did this. Before it was in HX, I also missed the Dimension chorus. And the octo reverb on the HD sounded better to me than on Helix.
-
Yes. One was built with the HX modeling process and the other HD and ported to HX.
-
First one that comes to my mind is the script phase. Another is the la2a comp. Tube drive - legacy, valve driver - hx.
-
Anything categorized as legacy was built on the HD platform and then ported to Helix. Mono/stereo models were made using the HX platform. At one point Line 6 just decided to port all of the HD models to Helix, creating possible duplicates.

I reported strange midi behavior when 2.80 first came out and sent Line 6 a Reaper project file and preset that reproduced the behavior, including crashing Helix by sending a clock signal from Repear. They acknowledged the problem, but apparently it is not fixed as of 2.91. The problems I'm experiencing only occur when HX Edit is open and connected. So if you're using HX Edit, try without it to see if you still have problems.
-
As far as I can tell, it's there. On device: Push preset knob Push rename snapshot encoder Turn switch LED encoder HX Edit: Right click the snapshot field.
-
Yes. I went from v2.71 to v2.90. I also did it from the HX Edit interface, rather than using Line 6 Updater.
-
It does sound really good.
-
Not sure if it works on legacy effects, but you can reset an LFO by sending a value with CC64, or engage/release the tap tempo button once.
-
Open a support ticket. Probability is high that they will just send you one.
-
Lol. There has long been experimental evidence that the brain is capable of making decisions before you're consciously aware of said decision. So that seems to make the moment of a conscious thought, our perception of now, actually the past.
-
Yea, but are they going to be granular enough?
-
Leaving it plugged in has the benefit of increasing the possibility of the USB connector not breaking.
-
My perception of the presets is just as you describe. The difference is Plexi 1 has a split A/B with an even split, while Plexi 2 has a split Y with balance A left 100, balance B right 100.
-
It's probably really difficult to give a very specific response for that kind of sound, but generally, take a look at the particle verb (stable condition) in the legacy category for reverbs. In addition, try combining it, either serially or on a parallel path or even both, with other reverbs that are not in the legacy category. Might find a combination that appeals to you better than what's in the video. Goes with saying, that's a nice guitar in the video.

There's an envelope flanger, I think it's the dynamix flanger. There's no envelope controller that has an ability to operate on an arbitrary block. Wish there was though.

The same day extinction occurs.

Didn't see it mentioned in the release notes, but It appears they fixed the LFO reset problem. HX Edit still has a repeatable disconnect problem under certain circumstances when using Helix's midi over usb, but not when using an alternative usb-to-midi cable going to Helix's midi ports.
-
Unsure, perhaps not. I record to Reaper using Helix's ASIO drivers, but I don't use Helix as the system soundcard, which I have disabled for both playback and recording. This conflicts with your second statement above. I have another device acting as the system soundcard and Helix's spdif output is connected to this, then to the speakers/headphones. The detail I just realized that might shed light on possible confusion is that I'm using Helix Floor, not Stomp. Is USB functionality really different between these devices?
-
The second statement doesn't seem correct. Shouldn't it be, Helix can be used to record directly to DAW regardless of whether Helix is the sound card?
-
I can confirm that LFO reset no longer works on 2.81.0, Helix Floor. I use CC64 sent from Reaper rather than using the physical TAP switch.
