  1. My point wasn't that modeling was or was not here. My point was that, to say it is not, is just as insulting as you think I was. Or my real point being, it you like it, don't listen to those who say they don't. I'm sorry if you thought I was insulting anyone or anyone's opinion of modeling. My intention was to tell those that might have been insulted by the "it ain't there" statement to ignore it as opinion and not fact. If you don't think it is "there", I don't think that because I like it, I think you're an idiot. Quite the contrary. I get why you may not like it, but if it is "there" for me, it's just as insulting to imply that it definitively is not. I apologize again if it sounded like I was insulting anyone. That was not my intention.
  2. It always kills me when people say that modeling "isn't there yet". I'm assuming it's because it doesn't exactly, down to the last air molecule and electron, move air (simulate) the way an amp does in the way they think it should sound. Who cares? The sims are just a starting point. To me, these are the same guys who would tell Jimi to turn it down because amps aren't supposed to distort. If it sounds good to you then it is good. No matter how it's gotten. I'm also going to assume that the people who say using a real amp sounds better, weren't at the venue to hear what it sounded like. If I have to record my acoustic guitar on a old cassette recorder at a level that it distorts on the tape and then play it back out of the recorder into a small speaker and mic that, then so be it. This was used on several classic rock songs and are considered classic rock tones. Read this. http://www.macjams.com/forum/viewtopic.php?forum=16;showtopic=217112 So don't listen to all those "it ain't there yet" guys. Fine they don't have to use one. But don't take their opinion as gospel. Make up your own mind. I personally like many of the sounds I get out of a stereo PA as much as a Marshal stack pointed at my face. Does it sound like that Marshall? No. Is one better than the other? To me, no. Does it sound cool. YES! Overall we're just talking about another way of getting the vibrations a guitar string makes out to a persons ear. If we're going to get down to what is the most pure tone, well that would be a string stretched between two nails. Everything else is an alteration of that. And even then people would argue about what string is the most pure sounding string.
  3. Both guitars use the same modeling. The choice is more about what kind of guitar you want to have. I like the models. Some do not. There is a set of older models that some people like more that you can replace the newer HD models with. They're from the previous Variax's.
  4. Yeah I know, I'm sorry. I'm usually pretty patient, especially with Line 6. But it has been awhile. Just really looking forward to it. It's such a hassle, given my setup, to use workbench, right now, I just don't. Thanks for the update, I'll complain no more.....No, really, I promise. :D
  5. You were able to use workbench with the JTV and the HD500 with the old models and firmeware in it. So to me the implication was very much there that when the new HD guitar models came out, you would be able to control workbench using the HD 500. Was it specifically stated, I don't believe so but give me a break. Or at least they should have made some statement in that regard. At the very least make it now. If we aren't ever going to get to use the new workbench through the HD500 let me know. People are expecting to be able to eventually, so give us an answer one way or another.
  6. By the way I love my Variax bass (705) and Bass Pod XT. I was surprised that they had to drop it because the recorded sound is awesome in my opinion, And I thought the live sound was pretty good too. If you can try one out you should. But I just think there is some kind of stigma around a bass guitar sim, and to a lesser degree bass amp sims. I've run across a lot of people with it.
  7. I remember Greg DeLaune recommending a mix of no more than 75% when using the wahs.
  8. Hence the wink. You did see that didn't you?
  9. How awesome is THIS!!!!! http://Line6.com/pickbot
  10. A bit out of my price range but not only does it look fun, I think it would actually be useful in many situations.
  11. I'm going to hold your feet to the fire over this one because my panties ARE in a bunch and your post bunched them. When I post I try to be very respectful of others opinions and when I post, try to make a very clear distinction between "what I think" and what is fact. After I read your "Incorrect. ....." You can reasonably say "I disagree." Whether this is a 'serious' product or not is not a matter of right/wrong. It's a matter of opinion. You have one opinion; others may have a different opinion. That does not make your opinion correct and others' opinion incorrect. I was shocked that you would have gotten that I thought my opinions were "right/wrong" so I went back an re read my post. It was then obvious to me you didn't read my post very carefully at all. The whole post was written as my opinion. My shock turned to feeling insulted and, even more, wrongly accused of something I personally really dislike. I think your post was a knee jerk reaction to me for whatever reason and was not well thought out at all. I think you then, instead of taking responsibility for what you posted, tried to back pedal your way out of it and you quoted an irrelevant post to cover yourself.. Which is kind of a slap in the face to me. Kind of indicating that I misread your insulting post. And you then, I guess, try to joke your way out of it. So, you can either take responsibility for what you posted or not. Your next response, if you choose to do so, will tell me everything I need to know. I'll post no more about it. At the very least I believe I have unbunched my panties now. IMHO.
  12. My last post was not in response to So it's not a device for you, and frankly not for me either .... but still, it wins awards....... so maybe it's a marketplace winner, and a serious product for those who like it even if we don't? It was a response to Incorrect. ..... You can reasonably say "I disagree." Whether this is a 'serious' product or not is not a matter of right/wrong. It's a matter of opinion. You have one opinion; others may have a different opinion. That does not make your opinion correct and others' opinion incorrect. That's why it was quoted. So it would be very clear what I was referring to. If you're going to respond to posts. Make sure you're responding to the right things. I think you're backpedaling and trying to cover your lollipop. IMHO.

    Out Of Stock?

So utilizing this worm hole, time travel delay, you would hear your own notes before you even played them? That's so cool. :D Can you apply it to any notes you played before like in 1987? And in hearing the "future notes", could you correct mistakes and would the "future notes" then be corrected so that if you were to then go back in time, the previously incorrectly played "future notes" would then be corrected?
  14. What I was saying incorrect about was you telling me how I feel i.e. "So it's not a device for you" THAT's what I was saying incorrect to. If you had read past that word you would have found that I thought it was a cool device. Just not serious which IS just an opinion. Did you even read the sentence after the word incorrect? In reference to the "That does not make your opinion correct and others' opinion incorrect"; where did I ever say it did????????????????????????????? What an arrogant thing to say. Did you completely read my post? I kept saying "I think", "I would say" and "I would want". Those words indicate that IT'S MY OPINION and not an empirical "this is the way it is" statement. Is English your primary language. If not I apologize. If it is... I guess I have to make it obvious to you by putting IMHO or something.....What the hell got your panties all in a bunch anyway? OH wait....IMHO.
  15. So it's not a device for you, and frankly not for me either .... but still, it wins awards....... so maybe it's a marketplace winner, and a serious product for those who like it even if we don't? Incorrect. It would be a device for me if I had the extra money. A fun play device. It would not be a serious product for me because there are a lot more products out there that are more serious. At the very least I would want to have the option to control everything from the device itself. I would say that is at least one requirement for a "serious" product. And I would bet that most people looking for a "serious" device i.e. one for recording/gigging would at least want a device that didn't require the extra peripherals (the iPad/iPhone) that this one does. Don't get me wrong, I liked what the X3 "engine" did and it's not that I don't think this is a good product. I just think it needs to be put in the right perspective. I'd be curious to see if Guitar Player's assessment isn't kind of the same.
  16. One BIG put-off about this thing is you HAVE to have a smart phone or thouch pad of some kind. It currently can only use the iPad and iPhone but supposedly the Android version is coming. You can't do a majority of the editing without one. So this leaves quite a few people with limited funds out. It almost seems to me it's designed for the financially comfortable people for whom guitar is a hobby (albeit maybe a passionate one), to have set up in their living room (they mention how the design is perfect for this several times in their promo videos) so they can show off to their well to do guests how well they have mastered their AC/DC licks, between concert dvd's, while sipping drinks, at their cocktail parties. Also the "engine" is an X3. Not the HD. I don't think of this as a serious product for musicians. More a fun product (I hesitate to use the word toy, It's not that simple.) for from hobbyists to musicians to use in their spare time. I love jamming with other songs and this is essentially what this is setup to do. Something I used to do with my Rockman and a radio. This is just a way more elaborate version of the same thing.
  17. 1. I have had good luck with sight unseen purchases. Others haven't. Ya just never know. Just make sure they have a good return policy, Most places have a 30 days, no questions asked policy and I think Sweetwater does too. 2. Again ya never know until you see the product. As long as you can return it, what have ya got to lose. I've heard lots of good scratch and dent stories. 3. Upgrades are free and you can always roll back to the previous version, so you have a free choice at all times. No brainer here. The innards for the JTVs are the same Edit: Oh I think I misunderstood #3 at first. When the 69 first came out I know there were neck issues (E strings falling off the edge of the fret board while playing) but I think those issues were solved by the years you mentioned.
  18. Just so people understand why the 500X appeared. It was because the chip Line6 was using was discontinued and the chip they could use to replace it had more power. So they had two choices, don't utilize the extra power or use the extra power. They took the obvious choice and used the extra power. Now, do you just put it in there, let people discover it and lollipop off all the people that bought an HD500 before the new chip. Bad idea. Here's a good one. Give the HD500's with the new, more powerful chip, a different designation so everyone will know it is different. Hey and maybe improve another thing or two while we're doing it. That's what they did. For the same price as the one with the discontinued chip, I might add. It wasn't a big consipiracy to try and squeeze more money out of previous HD500 owners or fool anybody or anything like that. They had to use a chip that was a slight bit more powerful. If you have and HD500,in my opinion it's not worth buying a whole new 500 for what improvements I get. But that's OK. They could have just kept their mouths shut and not used the extra power at all. The HD500X is essentially an HD500 with a little more processing power. That's all. Not more capabilities just a little more processing power.
  19. Just confirming that I got from Line6 themselves that the XLR's are designed to be used for mic level output signals only.
  20. I would stop creating tones on your headphones and use your Bose. I've never had a tone I've created in headphones sound the same anywhere. And it's always just been a standard rule. Make your tones with what you're going to use. It's the only way to be sure what you create will be heard the same way as when you created them. It does, however, sound like you don't have the Bose system where you create your sounds. At least use real speaker and dump the headphones.
  21. According to the Line 6 Vetta FAQ the battery is a Panasonic BR2325-1HG. Is this the same as a CR2430? According to every battery compatibility chart I've found it isn't. Also anyone have any pics of this battery changing process. I've searched the internet to no avail.
  22. I am comforted by your saying it will happen. Thank you for that. Sure has been awhile though.
  23. "well let's put it this way.... it is what it is. if the document says its anything other than what it is... does that change what it is?" So let's see, Line 6 said something would happen in writing and it didn't happen and our attitude is supposed to be "it is what it is"? lollipop. Using that attitude, Madoff promised high returns on investments in writing to many people. Oh well, it didn't happen, it is what it is. Carry on your merry way Mr. Madoff. And you people that lost your life savIngs. Waddaya gonna do? Cry? Quit your whining and move on!!! This may be an extreme example but the principle is the same. Normally I agree with the "experts" but I think you're way off on this one. They did the same thing with the Variax Bass. Workbench capability promised in the manual but never transpired. And that was one of the main reasons I bought a Variax bass. And let's not forget the acknowledged Vetta bugs that got pushed to the side of the road. No more Vetta support, deal with it. Not that they couldn't fix them, they just wouldn't. I mostly got over those but if it happens again, good-bye Line 6.
