Here's a post describing where they are. By the way, some of the Variax models themselves were changed so it you load this into your Variax it will overwrite some factory presets. Hi slicbald, First up hook up your Variax to Workbench as usual - if you have any custom Variax settings of your own in your guitar - make a backup copy, just to be safe! Now load the "TDR 28.09.2016.bun" into Workbench and then click on the "Upload All" button to overwrite the models that are already installed. Now when using The Pink Floyd preset patches in Helix, your Helix will automatically detect and reconfigure you Variax with Fremen's custom Variax programmes. Hope this makes sense. You can always revert to your custom or factory presets for Variax whenever you wish - just reload those instead. Enjoy! This is in this thread somewhere if you want to see the original.

Well the editor should be Ver. 2.21, the Helix firmware Ver. 2.21 and the driver Ver. 1.86. I guess check those out for now. You may want to try to reinstall the firmware and if you do, don't forget to reset the Global settings and restore the factory presets by holding down footswitches 9 & 10 while powering the unit on. You do this after you install the firmware. You WILL lose all of your personal patches Global settings and IR's (if you havge any) when you do that so save the patches to your computer and write down your Global settings and IR locations. There is no way around it. Right now, you have to lose all of your settings, patches etc. to install new firmware because you HAVE to do this Global reset. -

Hmmm. That is weird. Are your Helix and Helix editor at the latest versions? If one is on the latest version and the other isn't, that can give you issues. -

There are two paths each with it's own input. Make one input the guitar and one the mic. Select the effects you want for each path and mix and pan at the output of each path. Make sure the output for each path is the same. -

This is what caught me with this. After you have pasted the block in a new preset, you need to immediately save that preset. I would copy a block from one patch-go to new patch and paste the block-go back to the old patch to copy a new block-go back to the new patch and the block I thought I had put in there would be gone. Well, it doesn't automatically save the patch or put the pasted block in a buffer. So when you leave the new patch to go to another, it doesn't keep any changes you've made if you haven't saved it. Save save save. Or (after reading your patch closer) could your new patch just not have enough memory for that block? Before you try to paste a block, go to the effects selection area and see if the effect in the block you want to paste is grayed/dimmed out, indicating there's not enough memory left for it. If that's true, you won't be able to paste the block with the same effect in it. -
Whooops. Sorry. I'll fix the post to no one get's excited. But then that means they fixed it to everyone's satisfaction, right? Oh never mind.

You do need to have the IR's in the IR bank and in specific slots. The IR's are numbered to coincide with what slot they are to go in to match the patch. Can't speak to the Variax patches as far as where they are. I'm not at home. They are there but, as I recall, not obvious.

Re: Line 6's perspective. Read this. http://line6.com/support/topic/20276-inconsistent-and-inaccurate-tuner/ Post #35. So they are working on it in some way. Just maybe not the way some people want. THIS IS WRONG. THE POST QUOTED WAS MADE BEFORE THE LAST UPDATE. MY MISTAKE, SORRY.

I'll skip the bunny ranch. I'm allergic to penicillin. Just give me the monetary equivalent!

I just found this. The bold, italics, underline is mine. So they ARE doing something. Just maybe not what some wanted. THIS IS WRONG. SEE POST #147.

I am not a programmer but it seems there would be a way to program it so the granularity/accuracy is variable. That way we can all be happy. BUT, I don't know how easy or hard it would be to program it in. Line 6 has a lot of things going on and if it would take a bunch of time or resources to do then I'm sure it would be put on the back burner. As I recall there was a Line 6 comment that at the very least, it's not being worked on now so I wouldn't count on any fix any time soon. I personally like the accuracy and I use my own mind as a kind of variable granularity if ya know what I mean.

I would say ultimately, that's what will happen. The chances are excellent that what you hear in your ears will not be what's heard through the PA. So create your patches for the PA.

But it can change their policy of giving out dates. I was on these forums when it got venomous over this kind of stuff. I don't know if you were around then but it was nasty. Much MUCH moreso than what I've seen on these forums for awhile which is very pleasant. I don't necessarily see that happening now, but ya never know.

I love editing tuners...I mean...uh...Ain't anyone fixed this tuner yet? (I just love cracking myself up). Sorry, I'm tired but I'm posting this anyway.

Try the Solo's (Soldano's).

So that's what that rumble was.

I've signed up for two of these in my area and then forget about them. (I hate getting old). There's one more Guitar Center near me that hasn't had one yet. Hope it will happen and more to the point, I won't forget.

One problem with this, especially with older amps, is two of the same amps often do not sound exactly alike. There often seems to be a difference. In order to really test how close the models are to the real thing you have to compare the Helix amp to the actual amp Line 6 used to create the model. Along with exactly the same mic Line 6 used and positioned in exactly the same place that Line 6 had theirs.
-
Be careful. Line 6 had a policy of not letting us know any dates until it was basically ready to go out of the door because of all the hell that was raised when they were late. They have just started to tell us things again. If you want to keep getting possible release dates, don't push this too much. Try to act and think like no one has said anything.

They taste like chicken.

What about your computer monitor. Are you near one and is it a CRT monitor?

This was posted on the Helix forum but check it out. Variax part is about 14 minutes in.

Can someone recreate this clean guitar tone for me?
brue58ski replied to milesdavisjr's topic in Helix
Got an idea based on miles post. Put the Particle Verb, Delay and cave reverb on a parallel path to the amp and guitar. Keep the mixes on the verb, delays high and do the clean/dlyverb mix right at the output. I think that would make the dry clean sound more present than my last post, while still maintaining the heavy reverb delay thing which, by the way, I love. I easily can, and have, spent a day playing with a good guitar sound and tons of dly/reverb. I think it's the Pink Floyd in me. -

The reverbs in the Helix aren't as smooth (for lack of a better word) as that. Having said that, try this "chain"......Guitar - Particle Verb - Any Vox amp - Simple Delay - Cave Reverb. Play with puting the Particle Verb before and directly after the amp (before the delay). That is just a starting point. Play with the mix parameter in each effect. Turn the highs and lows down in the cab parameters and keep the overall tone of the amp not high (does that make sense?). -
