Knob 4: When set to “On†allows the echo repeats and/or decay of Delay and Reverb FX to continue when the Model is toggled off - this affects the FX Loop block as well...how cool! With the Trails option “Off†the decay is muted instantly when toggling the Model off. Note that the Trails feature does not provide a “spillover†of the FX decay when changing Presets. The Trails setting is saved per Preset. That is a copy and paste from the OM. page 14 of the Pilot's Handbook. System Menu, page 1, knob 4. That is what I was referring to when I asked about the global setting. There is one. It works within a preset, when turning delay on and off -- such as doing a solo. BUT, you guys were talking about switching presets. The trails do not continue when going from 01A to 02A.

Will HDEdit work while looper is playing back?
pianoguyy replied to Indianrock2020's topic in POD HD
I don't know about within EDIT. But I know that you can edit your tones while the looper is playing. If you are going to try to do it within EDIT, I would make sure you try it both way... Using your computer as the sound source and using the Pod as the sound source. -
Actually, we are both right. There is a global setting for trails. But the global setting is for a different purpose than what we are talking about here.

If it works for you, great. But if I try running without the modeling, it sounds like that same yucky sound that turned me off to 'ampless' 20+ years ago. Could I possibly spend hours tweaking to get the right set of fx blocks to make it sound ok, sure I could. But, for me, why spend all that time tweaking 8 blocks to replicate the sound that I get when I could just turn on an amp.
-
When did this change? Admittedly, I don't go into my system menu often because I set everything and don't change it. But I thought there was a 'global allow trails' settings.

There is nothing wrong with saving a bundle, especially if you have use for every patch in the same position all the time. I can't use that. I have very few bundles saved, and they are usually used for 'starting over'. Setlists and patches are probably more important to be saved, because they allow more refinement as far as putting things where you want them. My two main bundles are: Factory default, saved from when I turn the unit on the first time (or after each software update). And I have a completely blank bundle, which empties every patch. The bulk of my stuff is patches, because I am constantly reorganizing everything based on the project I am working on each day.

The looper is part of your chain. So it is going to pick up whatever comes before it and be affected by what comes after it. You may need to try placing it in different spots.
-
I wish I knew where my old post was. Search didn't show it. 08 fx blocks per patch. 04 patches per bank. 16 banks per setlist. 08 setlists per bundle. 512 patches in a bundle. Some people skip the 'bank' and just say 64 patches per setlist. Presets, tones, patches - they are all used interchangeably by different people.

Just out of curiosity.... Was he playing with a towel to be cool, or was it simply because he spilled beer all over his guitar and wanted to wipe it up. Remember, water is a conductor of electricity and back then there were serious risk of death by shock.
-
The trick to his tone is going to be more about the guitar. If your the pickups and volume knobs aren't as responsive, you will most likely never recreate the tone.

And you would be absolutely correct, given the limited response I gave. It's not that I am beyond reproach. But rather, I cannot consistently be the lucky customer of every product I buy --- the one that does not receive the broken unit. Unfortunately, the word 'common', is losing it's meaning in modern society. Common problems aren't common in the digital age, they are just searchable on a global scale. For example, the fact that you can do an internet search of a couple billion websites and see a hundred people that had a certain problem with a certain device ---- that does not make it common. That just means that the help desk is searchable. And face it, it is the internet, many of the posts one sees can be by the same person repeating their problem to others. If it was a true common problem, I am sure that the good people at L6 would have fixed it - if not in the newer 500's, then in the 500x. Besides, at this point, if my usb breaks, I would chalk it up to old age. Normal wear and tear. Not defectiveness. **this is also the reason why people with certain quirks in their personality assume that they are normal. Out of the 7 billion people in the world, they can find a global support group of 1000 people who try to normalize themselves.

My HD 500X Configuration that makes everything simple.
pianoguyy replied to tpawlowskis's topic in POD HD
Masking tape isn't quite as sticky as the others. So, yes, removal will be easier. But more importantly, the top surface of masking tape is perfect for writing on. Whereas electric tape, your marker will smear if you touch it before it drys (not all brands are created equal). And, of course, masking tape is always available in that same bland color at just about any store in the country. But electrical tape is not always found in white, nor is it available at every corner drug store or gas station. Plus, masking tape is cheaper. Which, isn't that big of an issue for most people. But when you are using it in bulk, such as every stage you step on to mark your cues, the price difference really adds up, -
I have had no problem with my 500. And I am usually plugging it in and out numerous times a week for setlist altering or patch creation/backup (I am involved in multiple projects). Until I have one of those 'common' problems, I base everyone's problem on user error. I realize that people will bash me for and cry "I didn't do anything wrong but it broke anyhow", but sometimes it needs said. My plug has been used extensively, but never abused. And I am sitting with a fully functional unit. Good luck with your new unit.

Masking tape works much better. -
I prefer Pod to PA. But, to each, their own. Given that you want to use an amp, here's my suggestion: First decide if you want to go direct or use a mic. If you are going to mic your speaker, use the XLR into your amp. If you are going to go direct, use the 1/4" into your amp.
-
The expression pedal on the 500 will control any parameter you tell it to.

You can't do 8 presets. You can do 4 presets and 4 fx. Or you can do 8 fx. But you can't do 8 presets. **and just because you are in a mode that allows turning fx on and off, does not mean that you can automatically turn fx on and off. A patch needs programmed for which fx is going to be on which footwitch.

My trick to not breaking the screen is... Don't step on the screen.

You don't want volume passed. One is clean, one is dirty. If volume went through them both at the same time, you would have a clean and dirty sound at the same time.
-
Two ways 1. on the pc, using EDIT, it is up in the upper left corner. --- can be found on page 12 (2.2) of the Edit Pilot's Guide 2. on the device, page 3 of the system menu --- can be found on page 13&14 of the Quick Start Guide You will need to use them both, because one is the device setting (which could be global) and one is the patch setting (which could be overridden by a global device setting) To silence input two - you will put input two on Variax. For the record, it doesn't silence it. It is still usable. There is no 'off' button. But it will be silenced in the sense that no line fuzz will be heard. **And, you are correct. Many times, we talk to each other so many times and say the same things over and over, that we forget that not everyone has been here to see the past write ups or to know certain processes like the back of their hand.
-
I am controlling the input signal going into your speakers. That way you know you aren't overdriving it. The master volume of your l2t is a separate issue.
-
Here's what I do for determining where to set my master volume of the Pod: 1. I have an mp3 player (you can use your phone). First, I use it with headphones to determine an acceptable volume (which is really just a one time thing per device) -- I can hear it. It doesn't blow out my eardrums. It doesn't distort. ETC. 2. I then, without changing the volume setting of the mp3 player, plug the mp3 player into the mp3 input of my Pod. The volume from the mp3 input is not affected by the Pod's master volume, so what you hear coming through the Pod is literally the same signal you had coming out of the headphones. 3. I then try to get my Pod's master volume to the point where it is a match for the mp3 volume. If you do this, then you know that you aren't driving too much signal into your chosen device.

I don't have the L2M to know the answer, but what everyone is describing used to be called 'clipping'. In cars, you call it 'red-lining'. So, if you know what clipping is in musical gear or red-lining in racing --- that's the answer.
-
@Punkyboy Since you just got your unit~~~ If you go and update the firmware, not only do you get all of the firmware stuff, but you will also get another pre-programmed setlist.
-
No, that is not a dumping price. It is a --- so many people are here checking out the Helix but not buying, if they are interested in L6 products, maybe we can entice them to buy the other stuff with a sale.
