  1. You need to rewire the cabinet, or get a second cabinet. The load should be 8 ohms (or greater) on each speaker output.
  2. Common thing to check are that the guitar is functioning correctly with the cable selected - plug into an amp and check. You wouldn't believe how many times people find the battery in the guitar for active pickups is dead, or that they had the guitar's volume control off.
  3. No harm will come to the head if you have no speakers plugged in and only have the headphone/DI output in use. Most people keep the speakers plugged in all the time to ensure the amp is not accidentally damaged due to an uneven load (note that you should never plug into only 1 of the speaker outputs as this will unbalance the amp and could cause damage).
  4. Smart Harmony is located in the FX1 bank. Do you have the advanced user guide for the amp downloaded? It goes into detail in the Editing section and the SmartFX section. You can get the manual here: http://line6.com/support/manuals/spiderivhd150
  5. No, the Spider IV amps do not have the ability to receive MIDI data/changes. The FBV MkII pedals control amp functions (patch changes and volume/wah for the Express) and also serve as a USB conduit to update firmware in the amp, and to upload new patches to the amp via Spider Edit software. The FBV MkII can also be used as a MIDI controller using Spider Control software - it will control other MIDI devices mapped with Spider Control, but not the Spider amps.
  6. I don't have a Shortboard, but was not aware of a 'Boost' function on the 75.
  7. Yes, like TheRealZap said - you store the patches on your smp, and access them through the FBV. Read the Spider IV manual about storing patches on your amp.
  8. No, you can only access the artist and song presets through the amp interface itself.
  9. Yes, you can switch patches, but your recorded loop also changes.
  10. Yes, as The Real Zap has said, Spider Control is only for MIDI control of software or other MIDI devices.
  11. That would be my guess. Hopefully your amp is still under warranty, as the 15 is not servicable.
  12. I have heard of some people having issues with active pickups and Spider amps - something about the signal overdriving the input circuit of the amp. Th eone solution I have seen posted is using some type of stompbox (I think any kind will work) between the guitar and amp, which buffers the signal.
  13. This sounds like it may be an issue with your amp, but the first thing to do is check the CAT-5 connector jacks for bent pins and then try a different CAT-5 cable. Note that the connectors for that cable - both to the pedal and the amp - are not very robust and bent connector pins are not unusual.
  14. Bring it back to the store for replacement! If there were problems at the store, you should have requested another one then. Hopefully you didn't buy a used one 'AS IS'.
  15. The FBV does not do MIDI, but can be used as a MIDI controller using Spider Control. Not sure what you are doing now. A USB Hub is NOT recommended.
  16. Online manuals are normal these days for most music and electronic equipment.
  17. Line 6 does not have a manual available for this, maybe someone who still has the old Shortboard can help you.
  18. If its not a standard power cable (same as other appliances in your country), then you may have to order from a Line 6 dealer or authorized repair center.
  19. 'Tap' is used to set the speed of the repeats (several taps at the tempo you want).
  20. Unfortunately, not an uncommon problem. Try different USB port, ensure all your firewall and anti-virus software is disabled.
  21. Fuzz and hum are two different things. Strat pickups (specially the neck an dmid) can give a very clean sound. Hopefulyy the OP will return to let us know what he's doing!
  22. Note that the SPider IV 15 is not considered 'servicable' (cost to service is greater than cost to dealer), so if it is still under warranty, bring it back to the place you got it for exchange.
  23. Use Line 6 Monkey and ensure you have the updated drivers installed. Something's wrong with your sound drivers if any audio software gives bad playback of WAV files. If you are using a UX1, it should be selected as your sound device, disable the internal sound card. I've heard of issues this way (2 conflicting sound devices), especially with Win8, but it could also happen with Win7. I've never had the issue myself - I use a Tascam interface but I keep my internal soundcard activated for internet and Roxio software and have used it with both on (but obviously not playing at the same time) and never had issues. I have had some issues with Podfarm recently though, where I could not get it to process the sound (as a plug-in in Reaper) and had to reboot Reaper to get it to work.
  24. 1) Make sure you don't have any fuzz box/distortion FX on. 2) Keep the 'Drive' level as low as possible. A lot will depend on your guitar's pickups, too. Humbuckers have a natural 'warm' distortion as opposed to single coil pickups.
