  1. "High volume" - not a good idea with headphones!! The good thing about Line 6 amps is the tone doesn't completely rely on overall volume. Any comfortable headphones will work.
  2. The AT mic is a condensor so requires 48v phantom power. Did you push the phantom power switch ON (it's next to the micrphone input jacks)? The manual on how to set up the UX2 for PodFarm is here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593c764e79/application/pdf/POD%20Farm%202%20Advanced%20User%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20B%20).pdf
  3. So Spider Edit does not recognize that the Shortboard and amp are connected? I had the opposite problem - edit worked, but not Monkey. SOme suggestions were to try a different USB port, and to deleted all Line 6 software (not just uninstall, you have to go into your files and find the folders where files are left after uninstalling and deleted everything), then reinstalling.
  4. You have to save your changes to a User Patch location - there are 16 locations, each with an A, B, C and D preset place.
  5. That is just strange! Are you using a 1/4" stereo to XLR cable/adapter from the headphone/line-out jack?
  6. Start with the presets, adjust the knobs and see what they do. There's no shortcut to learning how to adjust tones to YOUR liking - everyone wants a different sound.
  7. You don't load presets to the shortboard, it is just a communication device between your Spider amp and your computer. What amp do you have, and is it connected to the shortboard?
  8. The presets for PODs and Spider amps all have different names, so no way (other than experiementing) which ones are the same/similar. All the Spider IV amps from 75 up (not the 15 or 30) can connect to a computer using the FBV MkII Express or FBV Mkll Shortboard and a USB cable and Spider Edit software on your computer. You can adjust all the amp parameters 'live' in Spider Edit, or download presets from other users from the Customtone part of this website, and load them into your User Patch locations on the amp.
  9. It sounds like a bad solder joint or component to me, hard to diagnose. I'd buy/rent a back-up amp and bring it in for service if the shows coming up are that important.
  10. Sorry you had problems with it. Of course, like any piece of modern electronics, you need to learn how to use the features (in the case of the volume changes, you have to SAVE into your user patch locations at the channel volumes you want - master volume is not saved). It's a pretty simple procedure once you learn the steps. As for the amp modeling, the latest generation of Line 6 modeling is right up there with other manufacturer's modeling offerings.
  11. As blogstore mentions, the Line 6 people don't look at these forums, you can open a Support Ticket or call them (California hours). On the GuitarPort, as this is an older discontinued product, possibly the drivers are not compatible with Windows 8.
  12. Sorry it didn't work, but I did caution you about 'how do you know what is not working?'
  13. Yeah, that ESP is a heavy metal-style guitar, with pretty crappy humbucker pickups. Still, you should be able to turn down the guitar's volume control and adjust the one to get a halfway decent tone from the amp. I wouldn't recommend that Squier Strat from Andertons, only because it seems very pricey for a Squier. Shop around for a used one at half the price - or better yet a used Fender Strat for that price.
  14. What are you trying to 'set up'? The FBV Express' 4 buttons will only change the patches on the Spider amp, you can't set it to do anything else on the amp (although you might be able to assign MIDI control to software with them.)
  15. Have you tried connecting back to the computer with USB. I have heard of this happening before, and usually the FBV has to be replaced - hopefully you got a new one so its under warranty.
  16. You may have an intermittent short with the power cable, or it could be something else. Unless you can pinpoint the cause, it woudl be best to bring it to an authorized service center for evaluation.
  17. If you are going to use the POD FX, then use the amp on clean setting, or plug the POD into the CD-in input. If you plug your guitar into the Looper, then you will want effects on it, but will not want the effects to change on tracks you have already laid down when you add more or change the tone, so it owuld be better to go guitar > POD > Looper > CD-in. Unfortunately, the SPider IV amps do not have an effects loop, so if you plug the guitar > looper > guitar input, then every time you change the tone on the amp, all the looped track swill change tone as well.
  18. Not sure what you are trying to do. Is this a Spider IV 15? If so, adjust the tone to how you like it, then press and hold the A or B button in to save the patch.
  19. NO easy answer. Your overall tone is going to depend on the guitar you are using as well as the amp settings. try turning the treble down, the mid up and use a clean setting.
  20. What guitar are you using? The type of pickups can make a real difference in sound.
  21. Have you tried a factory reset? First back up all your user patches to a computer using Spider Edit, of course.
  22. No, if you bought the amp in a location with 120 volt 60 Hz, it will not work - you will need to get an adapter.
