  1. You may need to adjust the EQ when you do that as part of the sound of ANY guitar is the speaker, however Line 6 Spider amps have been modeled to create a very similar sound from their DI/headphone outputs.
  2. How are you getting your guitar signal into your computer? The FBV is just a controller and should not affect the sound at all, other than using it to switch channels/effects. Most times when people say they are getting a bad sound from PodFarm it is because they have the internal mixer set incorrectly and are getting a preset with heavy gain and distortion.
  3. Correct, you need some type of audio interface device that takes the audio signal and converts it to digital. The Shortboard is just a controller, the only signals going from/to it are control signals.
  4. Because each of the 4 presets on the 15 use a different amp model, you can't do what you trying to do.
  5. No, you can't. The Spider III does not have USB connectivity to use Spider Edit.
  6. The following usually works in Windows, I dont' know about Macs. Uninstall Spider Edit and any other Line 6 software you have loaded up, including Monkey. Delete the folder titled 'Line 6' in your program files - it still contains the uninstlaled Line 6 programs files. Re-download Monkee, then use it to to reinstall Spider Edit.
  7. I had the same issue the other day with reaper, started with just the tuner insert on, then when I tried with full PodFarm it wouldn't work either. Eventually I rebooted reaper and got it to work.
  8. There's a section of these forums for the Amplifi amps: http://line6.com/support/forum/70-amplifi/
  9. An acoustic amp will give you an uncolored sound (just like a PA system will), but the sound will still be only what your guitar's pickup system is capable of. What guitar do you have/what pickup system do you have? Is this going go to be a solo venture or with a band? At what volume (size of venues)?
  10. If you want to record the actual amp sound, you need to mic it and run the mic to your iRig or interface and computer.
  11. Note that this is typical with ANY amp and a standard undersaddle piezo pickup system. Even my Taylor with ES can't sound exactly the same acoustically and plugged in. There are high-end pickup systems like the Baggs Lyric and K+K mini that do better, and you can also use a high-end preamp-DI box with EQ. The more you spend, the better it sounds!
  12. You would do better using a dynamic mic that is less sensitive. You could certainly try a noisegate plug-in, like in PodFarm, but you may find it cuts off the beginning or end of your voice - it would be difficult to adjust well.
  13. I'd definitely try a separate XLR cable first. I've never seen one of those scissor arms before - except on cheap desk lamps. The booms used in radio station studios are very different (and won't make springy-boingy noises when moved, either!0
  14. Unless the 2x12 or 4x12 cabinet has highly efficient speakers, you are unlikley to get much more volume (or 'pushed air' ) from the cabinet. Make sure that the cabinet is rated at 8 ohms (many have 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel (or parallel/series) which changes the impedance at the input jack.
  15. Just asking are you sure the cable is a good one - makes good connections? If you have a spare one, try it. Not sure what the 'scissor arm' you mention is - is this one of those spring-loaded booms like in radio stations?
  16. That sounds like a driver problem, try uninstalling them, delete all the files from the 'Line 6' folder (uninstalling doesn't delete them), then redownload them an dinstlal them again.
  17. Do you have the phantom power switch on the UX2 turned on? Are you using a good XLR-XLR mic cable?
  18. How about leaving your UX2 plugged in, then starting the computer? Obviously try a different USB port, too.
  19. I suspect you are using incrrect drivers if it is not in synch when playing back - Reaper automatically adjusts for any recording latency.
  20. I have heard of some people saying the same thing, and it is usually because the default patch that comes up in PF is one with huge amount of gain/distortion.
  21. Assuming the Spider Jam has a looper function? You should ask this question in the Spider Jam section of these forums. You cannot set a loop in one patch and then play in another one with the Spider IV.
  22. Definite bug problem, I think that the solution has been replacement of the FBV, suggest you contact your retailer or Line 6 directly on replacement.
  23. Sorry you are having problems. Sometimes Line6's servers go down, keep trying.
