  1. Not familiar with your DAWs, but you need to select one channel (left, mic, for example) for 1 track, and one channel (right, guitar, for example) as a 2nd track in the DAW itself.
  2. Some people like to hear the processed sound when recording rather than the clean sound. As silverhead says, record both - clean on one track and processed on a 2nd track, then you can always go back, insert a new PF instance on the clean track and experiment.
  3. Can you post screen shots of your PodFarm mixer and PF plug-in screen? Not sure why you don't hear any changes, unless you are either 10 not monitoring the plug-in sound, 2) have multiple instances of PF running; 3) have a dual-sound selected and only hearing the one you are not 'seeing/adjusting'.
  4. When you have Podfarm on, with whatever preset has been selected, you can see the sound chain below - fx, preamp, amp, speakers, etc. Click on any of them to adjust, change, or delete them from the chain. If you are unable to do this, then you may need to start fresh and delete all Line 6 files, then reinstall.
  5. The only way to do that would be to take the headphone/line out signal (which mutes the speaker output) from the amp to the looper, then feeding the looper signal to another amp or your PA system. What you are asking is why loopers need to be inserted between the FX and the amp (making the built-in looper in a Spider IV amp more a gimmick than a useful tool).
  6. Which model do you have - what speaker size? Note that most guitar amps have a frequency range sculpted for guitars, and hence do not have much frequency response below 80Hz - this is especially true for the speakers used with guitar amps. Playing a bass through a Spider may not give satisfactory low end sound, and possibly could damage the speaker if played too loud.
  7. You have not mentioned what the dB level is when you are trying this. Ideally you should be recording somewhere in the -18dB to -12dB area. It is not necessary to record the incoming signal any louder than that. Side note: hope you got your SM57 from a reputable dealer, there are a large number of counterfeit SM57s out there (some work quite well, if its any consolation!)
  8. Can you define what you mean by a 'very bad signal in PodFarm'? When you turn on the track monitoring (with no plug-in) in ProTools or Cubase, do you hear the guitar in your headphones/monitor and does it sound clear? If so, insert PF as a Plug-in to the track, but turn off all presets, turn everything off in it, you should hear the same clear sound, right? If not, you may need to reinstall PodFarm. If it is clear, start adding components into the sound chain in PF and see what happens.
  9. There are no drivers. You can use Monkey to update the firmware in your FBV and Spider amp and to install Spider Edit. Although I could not get my computer (at the time) to recognize the devices to update the firmware (eventually I used another computer), I was able to use it for Spider Edit with the same devices. If you have no luck with different USB ports, first try uninstalling Monkey, all other Line 6 software, AND (important) delete all the leftover files (they should be in a Line 6 folder). Then try downloading/installing them again.
  10. Correct - the FBV is just a controller. WHich FBV model do you have, and do you have a Spider amp?
  11. First, make sure you have the USB cable plugged into a rear USB jack - try different ones. Turn off any firewall or virus software running in thebackground. Unfortunately, this problem happens frequently.
  12. First thing make sure you are plugged into a rear USB jack, not a front one or hub. Then turn off any firewall/virus software running in the background. I know with WIndows systems, some just would not run the Monkey update for the FBV, I had to use a borrowed laptop running XT. Not sure about Macs.
  13. The only way to use VSTs not provided by Line 6 would be to insert them on tracks in a DAW (recording software). Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to insert an effect into the chain in PodFarm (you may need to run two instances of PodFarm as inserted VSTs in your DAW, with the non-Line 6 VST inserted between the two.
  14. Yes, you can use any FX pedals with Spider amps and as you already have figured out, multiple distortions don't wrk well together, and some effects work better at the beggining of the chain (or end of) than others. Perfect example is using a WAH after a high-gain distortion - the wah seems to do almost nothing to the sound.
  15. Glad you found the problem, but this also indicates that the outlet itself if faulty - and worth checking out, might be as simple as replacing it, but could also indicate poor old wiring that needs to be replaced before it overheats and possibly starts a fire.
  16. I beleive you can only have Podfarm activated on one computer at a time. - go into your account device manager, deactivate the laptop and register the desktop.
  17. There was a thread and a linked video (or pictures) that someone had done to do this on the old forums here. A splitter won't work. Curious on why you want to do this - more volume?
  18. Yes you can do that, but make sure you do not run the amp with no output plugged in - plug into the headphone output before turning on the amp. Running it with no load could damage the amp circuits.
  19. What are you connecting the cable to (what amp or device?)
  20. Save the patches that you are going to use 'live' (for home practice doesn't matter as much) at the same volume by adjusting the channel volumes for the patches. Then the master volume is used to adjust the overall volume for where you are playing. Channel volume adjusts the preamp, master volume adjusts the amp.
  21. I think that's the poor design and not defective. Probably worth 'anchoring' the cable by using an insulated electric 'staple' (leave enough of a 'loop' so you can unplug the cable from the back of the amp when necessary).
  22. Yes, any for Spider IV models (75 and up) are compatible.
  23. Many of the presets are for PodFarm. You've got to search out the Spider ones.
  24. You can use the front control panel on the amp to name the presets.
  25. If your amp is under warranty, definitely get it to a service center for evaluation. The problem is unlikely to fix itself!
