As Helix's six rotary knobs are encoders, there is nothing more involved than allocating programming resources to reprofile the way the knobs perform for any selected Block. With the already numerous Block types existing in Helix, and with more on the way in future firmware releases, this may not be a high priority item on Line 6's Helix To Do List. Nonetheless, I certainly would also like to see the rotary encoder knobs be more responsive.

FYI, Yamaha is running a Mail In Rebate through the end of September on the DBR/DXR/DXS Products and StagePAS PA Systems. Details here: http://4wrd.it/YamahaSpeaker50 I run my Helix Floor with a pair of DXR10 and they sound superb! Let your ears guide you, and enjoy the Rebate should you go with the Yamahas.

Yup! My hunch is we'll see them in 3.0 firmware.

@tenorkeith, Wow! That's a crazy scrambled scribble strip photo you attached! Reposted here in full size: How long have you had your Helix? Also, if you had not seen the recent development, Line 6 extended the Helix Warranty to 2 Years for all USA purchasers. Rest assured, they will get your Helix sorted out.

Also announced, by DI or Frank, is that only after Helix Native has been released -- and is stable in the hands of users -- will the next firmware version 2.30 be released. And, if I recall correctly, Helix Editor was mentioned as being slated for release with Firmware 2.30. Firmware 3.0 would follow some time thereafter. There was no mention of subsequent series 2 firmware after 2.30. Nonetheless, the possibility of remedial or corrective patches to 2.30 could introduce additional interim releases. At Winter NAMM 2017, Line 6 was stating and showing that the forthcoming Helix Native's User Interface would be applied to the overhauled and revised Helix Editor (to the extent that the feature sets overlap).

The most recent Helix 2.0 User Manual (Rev D) PDF was released in July 2016 with firmware 2.0. Since then several interim firmware versions have been released with numerous feature additions. The 2.0 User Manual has NOT been revised for the interim releases! See the interim Release Notes, at HelixHelp.com or hunt them down on Line 6's site. The 2.0 User Manual PDF remains available to download from the Line 6 Helix Support documentation site. Line 6 has announced that revised User Manuals will only be released for each major firmare release. This would imply Full Interger numbered firmware releases. The next firmware expected is version 2.30 -- not 3.0! Firmware 2.30 is not going to be released until some time AFTER Helix Native has been released and proven to be stable. Helix Native is currently in beta testing and is expected to be released in the next several weeks. There is no specific time frame. Subseqent to the release of 2.30, the full interger firmware 3.0 will be released with the anticipated updated Helix 3.0 User Manual. Line 6 has made no announcement of any schedule for when this may be expected! Hopefully, 2.30 will be released later this Summer, and 3.0 will be released later this year. Only time will tell....

Unless Fender changed the wiring for use with the newer Mustang GT's footswitch, the cable provided with the predecessor Mustangs' (III/IV/V) 4 Button footswitch, 2 Button footswitch, and EXP-1 Expression Pedal are non-shielded 2 conductor 1/4" TS. Not instrument cables! The predecessor 4Btn fsw and EXP-1 work with the GT Mustangs, so I am guessing the cables have not changed. There are schematics for the predecessor Mustangs and their pedals I have seen on the Internet. If you Google for them they should turn up. I do not recollect if I saved a copy of them. I'll have to check my archives for the Mustang's info. I have a Mustang IV v.2 and a III v.2 that I have used with the Helix. I also have the Fender pedals but have not tried them with the Helix. Do post back what you find, and I'll do the same. There are other Helix users who did have Mustangs who may be of assistance.

All opinions and suggestions are welcome on IdeaScale. As I recollect, there have been several IdeaScale posts suggesting more uses for these footswitch buttons. Post your suggestions there and vote up those that are similar.

The THR100 Dual Channel Amp should work great with Helix. Especially, as the Yamaha offers the fleibility to select the power tubes in each Amp section. This should give you plenty of additional versatility with the Helix!
-
Absolutely! Substantial BASS Amps, Cabs, and FX were added in Firmware 2.20. See HelixHelp.com for the Release Notes. The current version is 2.21. It contains maintainence fixes, etc.

Actually, the resources of the Helix's two DSP chips are allocated to Paths 1 and 2. Not A and B. Silverhead is clearly aware of this and merely typo'ed above. One DSP chip services everything placed on Path 1A and 1B. The other services Path 2A and 2B. What you are enountering is the manner by which Helix shows that certain Block types are no longer available, based on what you have placed in your Signal Chain. The remedy is to use Path 2 A and/or 2B as you may need to accomodate your Block Model selections. There are some constraints to how many Amp Blocks and Cab Blocks may be placed in any one Helix Preset. This Dynamic DSP allocation is described on pages 19-20 of the Helix 2.0 User Manual (Rev D) PDF, available from the Helix Support area on the Line 6 website. Essentially it states: Amp+Cab, Amp, or Preamp blocks: Any combination, up to four (two per path) Cab blocks (includes Amp+Cab blocks): Up to four (two per path; Cab > Dual blocks are considered two) Impulse Response blocks: Up to four 1024-point IRs (two per path) or two 2048-point IRs (one per path) Looper block: One

I think your suggestion is valid as a stand-alone on IdeaScale. So if you choose to do so, I'll gladly vote for it. Also be sure to place cross linked URLs in your new IdeaScale submission and this one, so anybody visiting either can be aware of the other to vote up both. My impression is that Line 6 will absorb everything appearing on IdeaScale, even though they do not moderate, remove, not edit the already accepted, implemented, or rejected submissions. If there is a downside to IdeaScale, it is this issue, that over time, too many redundant posts exist. Your idea is by no means redundant. It is certainly a valid feature expansion for Pedal Edit mode, regardless if Line 6 also embraces the Model Selection feature. Also, if you do add a separate IdeaScale submission, place a post about it to the massive Helix Thread on TGP. Or, create a new Thread on TGP in the Gear > Digital and Modeling sub-forum.

@leftyz, it all depends on what you're trying to do, or, alternatively, which positions best suit your tonal tastes. If you do, explore parallel paths, also be aware that the Encircled Input Block of Path 1B or 2A may be reconfigured to use the FX Return. SImply select the Input Block with the Joystick and Press In on the Joystick. Then select the desired FX Return. Should you wish to route the Output Block to an FX Send, this may be done as well. The Helix has lots of options, explore them and use what works best for you.

At this point, call Line 6 tech support to step you through the process. There's little reason to persist with frustrations. If that fails to remedy the situation, return or exchange the unit.

Yup! The G10 Transmitter that was returned to the Receiver Unit, is what caused that system to commence the autoselect routine. As such, it selected the first available/clear/unused channel it found in the auto select sequence of 14 channels availble to the G10 system. This happened to be the same first channel originally assigned to the Bass Guitar's G10 system. As the Bass guitar's unit was in Sleep mode (it had been in the Bass guitar w/o any signal for over 4 minutes), it's channel was not seen by the other system as active nor in use. Thus, G10 system for the Rhythm Guitar did not advance past what would have been the busy channel. The Line 6 USB Charging Cable for the G10 is a handy accessory for $15. The G10 Transmitter Battery provides a rated 8 Hrs of active transmission time. Plenty for a Weekend's Gigs and Practice. The Standby (aka Sleep) time is rated at 200 hours with a full charge. Even when near depletion, the G10 Battery charges to full in just over an hour. So long as the G10's microswitch at the base of the 1/4" Male Plug is depressed (as when fully inserted into a Guitar or the Receiver Base unit) it is going to be active, asleep in 4 minutes, or charging. To avoid such channel reassignment mixups in the future, simply do not fully insert the transmitter in the base unit! There's no problem only pluggin it into the base unit part way. Or, don't plug it into the base unit at all.

Although I do not own a MS Surface unit, I have used Three (3), since November 2016 and at different times, to download and install the Helix firmware suite: Updater, Editor, and Firmware, to updated the Firmware to my Helix Floor. Aside from the Helix software not rendering at full screen size nor high resolution on the display, the firmware installation always went without a hitch. Hopefully, once Helix Native is released, and following that, the next firmware (version 2.3) and the revised Helix Editor will work properly on the MS Surface units.

Download the Helix User Manual 2.0 (Rev D) PDF from the Helix Line 6 Support Area (if the version on your USB stick is older).

Helix Editor: Creating additional path to add effects.
MusicLaw replied to dankleiner's topic in Helix
Each of Helix's Four (4) Stereo Signal Paths (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B) can accept Eight (8) Blocks. In addition, each Signal Path has a configurable Input Block and Output Block. There are also Split and Merge Blocks. Every Block has various Parameters. Regardless how a Preset is configured within the above construct, each Preset supports Eight (8) Snapshots. Snapshots allow for Blocks to be Bypassed and their Parameter Values to be changed per Snapshot, but not Block postions changed/moved in the Signal Path(s). Helix's Dynamically allocated DSP is designed such that one DSP is dedicated to Path 1A and 1B. The other DSP is allocated to Path 2A and 2B. As you add Blocks, DSP is allocated per Block. If DSP resources are consumed in Paths 1A and 1B simply move some Blocks to Path 2A and 2B. See more in the Helix 2.0 User Manual (Rev D) PDF downloadable from the Line 6 Helix website support area. -
HelixHelp.com is a good resource. I have not checked to see what they have on the Octoverb, but the site does welcome input to add to the accumulating information.

Getting a Case/Bag for Helix LT, looking for opinions
MusicLaw replied to spearmint95's topic in Helix
I particularly like the Helix Backpack's: 1) Thick protective padding for all compartments. 2) It stands vertically on four large stable and durable rubber feet with the Helix inserted in the main compartment and gear in the lower front compartment. 3) The two exterior compartments with two internal small net pockets (zippered) and large nylon zippered pocket provide plenty of additional storage for gear, accesories, and more: cables, power strip, IEMs, Headphones, Laptop/Tablet, paperwork, etc. 4) The Top and Side Handles are rugged and make it really easy to grasp and carry (vertically or horizontally). I have yet to use the shoulder straps. 5) Several velcro straps are included for securing gear. 6) Should the main Helix compartment's perimeter padding needed to be replaced, there's zipper access to easily do so. 7) It is lightweight when empty, yet very capable of hauling the Helix and a lots of extra heavy gear. 8) Overall quality workmanship, high grade construction, heavy duty zippers. -
Getting a Case/Bag for Helix LT, looking for opinions

For basic transport to friends places, there are several inexpensive padded bags for Mixers and Keyboards, from BOSS and Gator that fit the Helix. I've got my Helix in the Backpack. The Helix Backpack is outstanding!
