The USB Charging cable is a terrific accessory! I've had one for quite a while. The G10 Transmitter's lithium battery will hold a full charge for many weeks -- when removed from the guitar and so long as the G10's sleeve microswitch is not depressed. Thus, you could charge one Transmitter to full capacity, and then charge the additional Transmitter to full capacity. With both transmitter's batterys fully charged, you would then be able to quickly set the channel pairing for each and use them as desired, with concern of battery depletion while on the shelf. Each fully charged G10 Transmitter provides a rated 8 hours of transmission timed, or up to 200 hours of standby time.

When will we see new models and firmware for helix??
MusicLaw replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
Regardless of how soon Helix Core 2.3 w/ the new Helix Edit may arrive (followed by subsequent 2.4 or 2.5 releases), Winter NAMM's January 2018 timing might be an ideal event opportunity for Line 6 to announce, debut, or release, Helix Core 3.0. This would be akin to this year's Winter NAMM Helix firmware 2.2 pre-annoucement and Helix Native's pre-announcement. -
When will we see new models and firmware for helix??
MusicLaw replied to MarkJarvis's topic in Helix
The last I saw was a post from Frank R, Line 6's Sr. Dir of Ops, that what is expected to be new to firmware 2.30 (now aka Helix Core) are 7 new Amps and 7 more FX, as well as the typical enhancements and general improvements, etc. The newly overhauled Helix Edit program is also to be deployed with this release. Schedule and further details are unknown. Might be later this month. Might roll into October. -
David, Welcome to Team Helix!

You can also change to another Preset and still have the original Looper content playing in the other Preset. Just be sure that the Looper Block you define in the Presets are in the same DSP Path. In other words if the Looper Block is in Path 1A in the originating Preset, the Looper Block will need to also be in Path 1A (or Path 1B) in the other Preset. For the demoing and dialing in process you are using -- an excellent method -- you may even define several Presets in consecutive order and step from one Preset back and forward to the next and preceeding Presets so long at they all share the same Looper Block in the same DSP Path. Also the type of Looper Block must be consistent! Go with Mono or Stereo as you wish, but they must be consistent amongst the several Presets you wish to rock between and amongst.

As you are exploring how the signal path alternatives sound, also try varying Helix's Guitar In Input Block's Impedence settings. The default is Auto. You may prefer some of other value settings. Give them a try and see what works best for you. Also, the default for the Guitar In Pad is Off. Many prefer it set to On. This may be changed in the Global Settings > I/O. WIth the Helix's flexibility, there are no rules! If a particular signal path configuration/routing sounds good to you, go with it!

I can not say that I have seen any Pan Law Tips & Tricks over on the HelixHelp.com site. Nonetheless, you may wish to do a quick Search there to see what may turn up. If nothing, there probably should be some content added there.

Until you've had an authentic "New York Egg Cream" you don't know Fizz! ;)

Excellent Suggestion!! We'll see what Line6 has done with the new Helix Edit once released with Helix Core firmware 2.3. And, what additional enhancements arrive when the 3 series of Helix Core firmware and Helix Edit arrive months from now.

I'd be interested to know how you've got your instrument (I'm presuming a Bassoon) configured with a pickup/mic/transducer, and how you're feeding that to the Helix (Guitar In, Aux In, Mic In, FX Return)?

The "one-bite-at-the-apple" likely may also apply to the Helix Native free 15 day trial period. If the Helix Native discount value is material to your transaction, you're best advised to request the Helix's S/N from the vendor you're buying from so that you can cross check with Line 6 Customer Support. Otherwise, the used Helix deal you're buying into may wind up costing you $300 more than you anticipate (if you're intent on purchasing Helix Native). If the unit is already in transit to you, you should contact the vendor immediately to clarify if you desire to proceed with the deal and accept delivery, or reject delivery and rescind the deal. There is also a possibility that the vendor may adjust your price, but that would be between you and them and may already have been contemplated by you and them in your original deal for the used Helix. Hope it works out for you, as the Helix is a magnificent unit, and the Helix Native $300 discount is a great value.

And, it can operate on batteries! I've used my Yamaha THR10C's Stereo AuxIn jack with my Helix for low SPL arms length near field use and it sounds great! I was delighted and surprised to discover how well the THR10C held it's own A/B'd vs a set of JBL LSR305 studio monitors at low SPLs. Of course, the JBL's provide greater headroom for higher SPLs and have a fuller bottom end. Nonetheless, the Yamaha is a convenient single cord connection when run on batteries for hours of use with the Helix. I've connected it to the Helix via Helix's FX Sends (need to place FX Send Block(s) in Signal Path), Helix Headphone Out and Helix's Main Outs, all with excellent results.

If you have not yet seen them, view Richie Castalleno's several YouTube videos using the Helix. He does a great job in each of the videos. You and your Client may find them quite informative.

HELPI did something wrong and can't figure out how to undo it
MusicLaw replied to johnhorton's topic in Helix
Should you be unable to resolve what changed, simply reinstall the firmware and do a full Reset. Then you can reload any of the CustomTone Presets you were exploring. Reinstalling the firmware (current version is 2.21) will bring your Helix unit back to a clean slate with all the Factory Presets and the process resets the Global Settings to factory settings, and Rebuilds all the Factory Presets. The only issue would be if you have any personalized Presets you might wish to preserve. If so, you would need to first Backup any of your personalized Presets (using your current firmware and Editor) before you do such a firmware reinstall and then Restore your personalized Presets after completing the firmware reinstall and full Reset/Rebuild. If still no good, open a Support Ticket with Line 6 and on Monday contact them directly to assist getting things resolved. -
@Dibbua, the current User Manual is Helix 2.0 User Manual Rev D. This is available as a PDF for download from the Line 6 site. The next Helix User Manual will be when firmware version 3.0 is released, months from now. If you have a Helix LT there's a manual for that which is also available as a PDF for download, but it will largely be the same as it is also based on version 2.x series firmware. As for DSP power, bear in mind that the Helix units have two DSP chips. One is dedicated to Paths 1A and 1B. The other to Paths 2A and 2B. To get Path 1B to appear on your Helix, use the Joystick to select any Block on Path 1A and then use the Action button and Joystick to drag the selected Block down. This creates Path 1B. The Output Block (Circle at the end of the Signal Path) provides more options for routing as mentioned by @RRMark.

Thanks, for these, AK! Very cool for you to post these style paks. Looking forward to downloading and checking them out soon. I run my Helix stand alone, so I'll likely wait until Helix Core fw 2.30 arrives with the new Helix Edit.

Is the clipping present when using Helix's stock cabs (rather than the OH IRs)?

With Helix's Input Block configuration set to it's default: "Multi", the two signals fed to Helix's Guitar and Aux jacks would be summed on Path 1A. However, as Helix's Aux In Jack is a 10K Ohm input intended and designed for active Acoustic and Bass guitar pickups (see: Helix 2.0 Owner's Manual Rev D PDF, Page 21), and neither of your Acoustic Guitar's outputs are active, either pickups' signal you may choose to connect via instrument cable to Helix's Aux In Jack is likely not to sound matched to it's counterpart pickup without boosting and/or EQ. If you were to reconfigure Path 1A's Input Block for Guitar, doing so would isolate that input for it's own processing on Path 1A. Similarly, define and reconfigure Path 1B's Input Block for Aux (or Path 2A's to Aux and access Helix's additional DSP chip), and this path will isolate the Aux Input. This method would allow you to process the indvidual signals as desired and either merge them or route them to the same outputs as desired. Another easy alternative to explore would be to use one of Helix's FX Return's for your Acoustic's other pickup signal. An FX Block would need to be added to Path 1A, or you could redefine the Input Block of Path 1B or 2A to use the FX Return Block of your choice. Another method would involve, for example, use of a Relay G10 (or any suitable buffered output pedal with true bypass) for one of your Acoustic's output signals to the Helix's Aux In. This would present a sufficient signal level from the Relay G10's Receiver output (either via 1/4" or XLR) or from the buffered true bypass pedal's output to use with the Helix's input (AuxIn, FX Return, or Mic XLR In). As with most scenarios, Helix's flexiblity offers a variety of alternatives. Post back what you find works best. And, what make and model guitar are you using?

Matt: The Line/Instrument Signal Level setting is under Global Settings > I/Os. This is different that the Level control parameter in the Loop Send and Return Blocks.

Aside from leasing cable loops or using carabiners, the 12 webbing loops (6 on either side of the top pouch of the backpack) also serve as leash points for longer items. Two or three of the supplied velcro straps (or similar) may be used to strap a stand to the top and bottom (or more) webbing loops. Might be a bit awkward, but could be done to save a trip back out to the car, etc.

Got Yamaha DXR10 for Helix, made loud pop sound. Damage?
MusicLaw replied to spearmint95's topic in Helix
Your DXR10 should be fine! Best thing to do is simply use it as normal. In case you did not already know, the Yamaha has built in Signal Limiter and Power Protection Systems. These remain active regardless if you may have disabled the LED Indicator. See your Yamaha DXR User Guide (also available as a PDF), Pages: 7, 8 and 12. -
Download all the latest Helix Software (Drivers, Firmware, Updater, Editor, etc.) to your Laptop, so you would be prepared. Should the Helix unit provided at the gig not contain the latest firmware, you could update it and install your Presets (and IRs, if any) all in a few minutes.
-
I went with two Yamaha DXR10 for my Helix. They sound phenomenal, and can get much louder than I'll ever need. I also preferred that the DXR10 are more compact and lighter than the also excellent DXR12. Either should serve you quite well, and both are covered by Yamaha's comforting 7 year warranty! Moreover, Yamaha is running a Rebate Program on them through the end of Sept 2017.

The Aux Guitar In does not have the Auto Impedence nor manually variable Impedence ability of the Main Guitar In. It presents a convenient method to have two Guitars connected to the Helix Floor and Rack. IIRC Helix's FX Send and Returns are 1M Ohm.
-
1) Yes. 2) No. 3) Yes, if your question is will the Helix LT do what you ask in Questions 1 and 2. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Helix LT lacks several features and I/O as compared to the Helix Rack. Most notably in your scenario is that the Helix LT does not have an Aux Guitar Input as the Rack and Helix Floor do. The Aux Guitar In would be where most users would connect their Bass Guitar. The differences between the LT and Rack (or Floor) are published on the Line 6 Product site. The units are sonically identical.
