  1. Sorry to hear your G10 Transmitter was lost. You can buy a G10T for less than $100 (Amazon, GC, Sweetwater, etc.) and it will pair up just fine with your existing base unit.
  2. Especially if you live in a Region that resumes Standard Time at the end of the first week of November.
  3. @jimbohagey: A UPS is never a bad idea. Nonetheless, if the no sound failure has occurred -- only -- with one specific Preset, that Preset may be corrupt. Especially, if that Preset has been edited. If that Preset may have been or copied -- to or from -- another Preset, any corruption may have been carried along. If you have not already submitted your suspect Preset(s) to Line 6 for their examination (with a Support Ticket), make sure that you perform the Helix Power On Preset Rebuild Procedure! This will force a complete Rebuild of each Preset (under your current firmware version 2.20) and may fix corrupt Presets. As 2.30 should be released soon (hopefully in November) do not be concerned about installing fw 2.21. There are plenty of Helix owners whom have opted to skip installing fw 2.21.
  4. The Full Helix models provide a dedicated 10K Ohm AuxIn specifically designed for Active Pickup Bass and Acoustic Guitars, and there is also the Mic XLR Input with supporting circuitry. These provide options to using the FX Send, Return, or Loop Blocks for some circumstances. Another factor to consider regarding the use of the FX Loops is the *previously* documented Known Issue regarding their noise floor. See: http://line6.com/support/topic/25377-very-noisy-fx-loops/?hl=loop+noise&do=findComment&comment=204825 regarding how the mere presence of an FX Loop Block in the Helix Signal Path affects the noise floor when used with several of the High Gain Amp Block Types. [Note: The link to the December 2015 dated Noise Floor Knowledgebase Article in post number 18 of the thread cited above now results in an Error that the Article cannot be found in the Knowledgebase. Apparently Line 6 has removed the Article. It is curious that the Knowledgebase article has been removed, rather than it being marked or edited to explicitly mention if the issue may have been resolved or corrected.]
  5. Note: The Helix Knowledgebase Article from December 2015 regarding the Helix FX Loop Noise Floor Level Known Issue (see Posts 18, 19, and 24 in this thread), has apparently been removed from the Knowledgebase, as attempting to access that Known Issue article now resolves in an Error that the Article cannot be found.
  6. @GenoBluzGuitar: Thanks for posting your follow up description about how the stored and bunched up shoulder straps are creating a high and low area between the backpack's rear padding and Helix storage area which created the appearance of a recessed pocket specifically to accomodate the foot treadle. Removing all content from the backpack and flattening the shoulder straps when stowed should also allow for easier Helix loading and removal.
  7. Grasp the Helix by long side edge of the foot treadle. Hold it vertically and descend/insert it into the Helix backpack such that it is resting on the interior side of the pack's back cusioned area. If the large outer lower pouch of the Backpack contains gear (, other pedals, powerstrip, cables, etc., the pack will stand naturally as you insert the Helix. If the outer pouches are empty, you may find it easier to insert the Helix with the pack positioned horizontally. I don't recollect ever laying the loaded backpack with the large Helix Logo "> <" facing downward.
  8. Also see Tone Templates at: http://line6.com/tone-templates/ Or, via the footer link on any Line6.com website page. These PDFs are good references of various artists' rig configurations, and are a useful starting point to cook your own tasty Presets!
  9. The first official public announcement confirming the forthcoming Helix Edit application was back at NAMM in January 2017. At that time, it was made clear that the Helix Editor program would be released concurrent with a new version of firmware, both, after, Helix Native was released. At that time, Helix Edit was described as a replacement for the existing Helix Editor program, and that it would share much of the User Interface of Helix Native. The Helix Native User Interface was shown at NAMM. Helix Native was anticipated for release late Spring. As it turned out, Helix Native was released this Summer. Helix Edit is due in the next few weeks. Line 6 has not confirmed any fixed release date. It will be released with Helix Firmware vers 2.30 for all Helix platforms simultaneously. Firmware 2.30 and beyond will require the use of the new Helix Edit software for any Computer control or Preset editing done via PC or Mac. Thus, the existing Helix Editor program will no longer work with firmware 2.30 or later. Line 6 has also stated that the entire software and firmware installation, Preset Backup and Restore and IR Management methods are being overhauled, however, these are not part of, as far as I know, the new Helix Edit software. The term Helix Core has also been used in conjunction with references to the forthcoming platform wide Helix firmware 2.30 version, so this may too, be a shift of nomenclarture by Line 6 moving forward. As for the Helix units, they absolutely operate wonderfully as stand alone units, with many features quicker and easier to accomplish on the unit than via software control. Personally, I vastly prefer using my Helix Floor stand alone, and only use the Helix Editor when necessary to update the firmware on my Helix Floor. Until many of the valid points you mentioned are resolved, I do not see myselft altering my usage methods with the Helix, as the hardware works so well, and the exiting Helix Editor software, by comparison, is limiting and constrained. Line 6's representatives and the Helix User community are very helpful with getting users up to speed through the learning curve. Hope you find the answers you seek quickly and with sufficient understanding to assist your making the best choice regarding Helix for your needs. If you are unable to find answers on Line 6's website or resources, these Forums and The Gear Page net Digital and Modeling sub-Forum are amongs the best places to post and read. If you are Facebook fan, there are Helix groups there too. Hope this helps.
  10. I too have been using the G10 with the Helix (for nearly a year). They work very well together. Instruments and pickups, plus differences amongst playback/monitoring systems, are principal reasons why pre-existing Presets created by others often sound less than ideal on another user's system. Of course, player's skill and technique also play a big role! The best approach is always building your own Presets using the building block elements you prefer from Helix's toolset. Pre-existing presets are a wonderful resource for understanding how to cook your own.

    Manual Misprint

Helix Senior Product Manager, Eric Klein, goes by the handle Digital Igloo here on the Line 6 Forums, on TGP and elsewhere. He oversess the Helix Use Guides. They are revised only for major (Full Interger) firmware releases. Thus the next one is expected to be with 3.0 next year. Feel free to send e-mail or PM him, so this can be added to the list of corrections. BTW, as the PDF's security settings allow user notes and highlighting, these are excellent methods to keep track of any notes, etc. that you may wish to add to the current draft PDF.
  12. @d-flat, also see: HelixHelp.com > Release Notes for features and enhancements added with each firmware release following the introduction of the Helix LT. I have a Helix Floor, so I'm not aware of what version firmware the Helix LT User Manual covers, however, the full Helix 2.0 User Manual PDF was released in July 2016. The Release Notes for subsequent firmware releases contain lots of useful information.
  13. Exceptionally creative use and application of what the Helix can do! That's as good as it gets! Very impressive audio! Cool video footage, too.
  14. I have a Wine Red Epi Sheraton II-Pro that sounds absoulutely magnificent with my Helix Floor. So good that it can send chills down the spine -- in a good way!
  15. There's nothing wrong nor dumb about boosting a mic level signal to line level. This happens most of the time. The important aspect is doing so with gear (Mic Preamp, Mixer, etc.) that does not add noise nor unwanted coloration to the mic's sound/signal. If your mic requires 48v Phantom power, you'll need to supply that, as the Helix LT does not. The full Helix units (Floor and Rack) can handle the entire process quite well, via their Mic XLR in and related Mic In support features and circuitry (48v Phantom pwr, etc). If you are within your Helix LT's vendor's satisfaction return window, you may want to consider returning and exchanging your Helix LT for the Full Helix, particularly, if you plan on using and consolidating your Mic use to the Helix. Depending on what other gear you may have or need to acquire, you may do better with the Full Helix unit.
  16. Many of Yamaha's older receivers had very useful Loudness Contour Controls. A single rotary knob that did a great job to manually adjust how full, fat and crisp you wanted the system to sound.
  17. Put enough ballast in the big front lower pocket and the pack (with the Helix inside) will stand on its own!
  18. As far as I recollect, they work the same. They are suited for different positions in the signal paths. The Input Block's Noise Gate parameters, handle the incoming signal's dynamics without needing to insert another Gate Block in the signal path. The Noise Gate Blocks may be used anywhere in the signal path as needed. They are very light on DSP resources. Use em if you need em!
  19. When the G10 transmitter is plugged in, such that the tiny microswitch at the base of the Transmitter's shaft is depressed, the G10 transmitter is activated for Four Minutes. If no audio signal is present for 4 minutes, the Transmitter will then go into Standby Mode weher it will remain for 200 hours if the battery is fully charged. To prevent this from occurring, simply remove the G10 plug slightly from the jack so that the shaft's microswitch is not depressed. In this status, the lithium battery in the Transmitter will hold a charge for weeks! And, top charging the G10 Transmitter takes a mere few minutes if not used for weeks.
  20. @CraigGT, you're likely to be on solid ground for quite some time before all of Helix's Reverbs and Delays are HX grade. Even then, it would be difficult not to find good use for each of those units. And, you can always sell them to someone should you ultimately find them redundant to what Helix may provide.
  21. Also experiment with the infrequently discussed Frequency Crossover variant of Helix's Split Block! This can be a very powerful tool to segment your BASS signal based on frequency. Essentially, splitting it to two paths allowing for individual EQ'ing, Compressing, Limiting, or otherwise processing each of the two signal paths, perhaps even via differently voiced Cabs or IRs, regardless if you Merge them back into one (or not).
  22. @Steve2000, dive in! Helix's sound, versatility and ease of use will blow you away! Particularly, as you're intending to run 4CM, the Helix Floor (or Helix Rack w/ Control unit) offer more flexible I/O, and more. So unless you feel you can get by with the LT's fewer I/Os, definitely go with the full unit. Post back after you've had the unit in your hands for a bit.
  23. @k-grimm403: Although not a remedy for your current scenario, release of the new Helix Edit program is expected soon. It will accompany Helix Core (firmware) 2.30. The existing Helix Editor will no longer work with the forthcoming 2.30 firmware. Line 6 has not indicated a specified release date. Arrival has been depicted as being on final approach; perhaps in the next few weeks. If you are unable to resolve your current scenario, contact Line 6 Support. Perhaps they may have an interim remedy.
  24. The fun never ends with Helix! Each firmware release expands our virtual studio-in-a-box inventory.
