Nice job, Will! Listened to the SoundCloud feed last night. Looking forward to the next episode with Ben Adrian. Also need to get Frank in for an episode! And, a Pre-NAMM episode with the marketing announcements timed just right! :) Happy Holidays.

I have a older Samsung S4 Active that works with USB OTG just fine for all sorts of large image files, documents, and more. All it takes is a USB OTG cable. There's plenty of capacity and storage on the device, not to mention that it is a cinch to insert a Memory chip as an alternative to the USB OTG cable. Can't do that with an iPhone unless you! For basic Backup, Restore and Transfer, a 4 year old Samsung Active 4 can do the job. For stable backups, use a PC or Mac, or simply save the files to the cloud, thumb drive, or external device of your choice. This is not rocket science nor brain/cardiac surgery, guys! The Full HX Edit features and Music/Audio functionality, granted are not well supported by the mobile OS offerings from Google nor Apple.

The financial sector does not backup their vital data on Windows!

Line 6 is long overdue to provide a basic Helix Housekeeping Android utility for easy Backup & Restore of Helix Presets, Setlists, Globals, and for those who use them, IRs. This would allow for easy storage (local device, removable, or cloud based), and transferrance (via email or cloud) of Helix content. The only hardware requirement would be for an inexpensive USB OTG Cable. The vast majority of Android Deivices have already supported USB On The Go for years. Here's Statisa's Gartner Data showing Worldwide Smartphone OS Marketshare:

Also bear in mind that while Snapshots allow you to control 64 Parameters including Bypass/Enable state of any Block, as well as the parameter values of the various Blocks in your Signal Chain, Snapshots do not support reordering of Blocks in the Signal Path nor swapping different Amps, Cabs, or other Blocks into nor out of the Signal Chain. For these tasks, you would need to create different Presets. Switching between Presets does impose a brief momentary audio interruption as the new Blocks and their Parameters load, and doing so kills any Reverb or Delay FX tails of the prior Preset. Nonetheless, it may be suitable for your needs.

Have you have tried connecting your JBL Studio Monitors directly to Helix's Main Outputs? If so, how does it sound? If you get results with your JBL's directly connected to Helix's Main Outputs, this would tend to indicate that the issue exists with the USB, Drivers, computer configuration, or possibly Helix's USB out.

DI loves to hear about suggestion for more Global Settings Options. Now he could specify Global Settings > Territory ;)

The Modulation > Double Take Block is new in fw 2.30. Sam, Line6's Sound Designer of the feature, recently posted to the massive Helix thread in TheGearPage.net's massive Helix Thread (in The Gear > Digital and Modeling subforum), a description of how it works with details about its various control parameters. Browse back a day or so worth of posts and you'll find the details. I've yet to view the TGP Forums today, and if I have a moment, I'll append the direct link.

Nice cover DI! :) Ah, yes! With the nearly endless adjectives describing sounds tones, who is to say that nobody has ever depicted what they are trying to get tone wise out of a Helix Preset configuration is as smooth, rich, robust, and almost a coffee-like creamy cappucino/latte tone. ;) I'm comfortable letting my optimism persist, to see what Helix 2018 brings....

The Phones volume knob is a dedicated analog control for the 1/4" Headphones output jack. The Headphones jack may be used to feed personal monitor(s) should you wish, if you feel Helix's Main XLR and 1/4" Outputs do not suit your needs. The Global Settings > I/O > Headphones Monitor selection allows you to select which of Helix's Main Outputs you wish to hear from the Headphones jack. I do not know that this has changed in fw 2.30.

DI typically selects his words carefully. Nonetheless, he has been known to fan the fire. Polyphonic Helix capabilities have been a frequent request on IdeaScale and have been mentioned in plenty of discussions on the various Helix forums. Time will tell. In the meanwhile (before 2.4 or 3.0 arrive), why not be optimistic?

Perhaps the most enlightening portion of DI's post is what I have emphasized in Bold Italics.

Much thanks for your best wishes. Fortunately, none of my family nor friends have sustained losses nor damages to their lives nor property. Nonetheless, there are a great many who have sustained nearly unimaginable losses. Stay safe and enjoy the Holidays!

An alternative to purchasing a dedicated static guard spray product, is to simply mix a small amount (about 2 Tablespoons or so) into a generic pump triggered Sprayer bottle of water. A light mist of this onto carpeted surfaces, cloth, clear plastic rolling desk chair mats, etc., or onto a paper towel or cotton cloth to wipe down polymer surfaces, outdoor furniture, etc., does wonders to sigificantly reduce static buildup. This works great during low humidty months! The last few weeks here in the Los Angeles area we have had single digit humidity as low as 4-5% accompanyied by the Santa Ana winds. Aside from the horrendous fires that have devastated several areas, the static buildup has been significant.

I posted the same question, when I received my Helix Backpack last December. The Helix Backpack's designer Design Guy posted his insights on this to the massive Helix Thread over on TGP (TheGearPage.net). His November 9, 2015 post (See: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?posts/20883287/ ) states: [begin Quote] I have several bags / packs with these loops on them. I didn't want to make the upper pouch too large (nobody wants a top-heavy backpack) and those loops are a perfect place to attach things with a carabiner; for instance, your keys while it sits in the green room and you're on stage. ...they also serve nicely to fill the bare space on the backpack where there would otherwise be nothing. :) ...but primarily to clip things to, like keys, water bottles, extra cables (if you've managed to fill the pouches with laptops, mics, extra pedals, etc.). The larger compartment is lined with Veltex (a Velcro type surface, same as the interior of a camera bag), when you tie up your cables with the provided hook & loop straps, you can secure them inside the pocket so they stay organized. There is also a full width pocket that can hold full size music books (or a Mac Pro), as well as two smaller mesh pockets, which are perfect for keeping picks or other small items in." [End Quote] There is also a Helix and Rifle owner that did posted a photo of the Helix Backpack's exterior loops filled with what appeared to be 7.62mm rifle cartridges. See: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?media/20160627_154241.31534/ or See: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/line6-helix.1586637/page-343#post-23696557 (note this link resolves correctly with your TGP User Preferences set to display the maximum of 100 posts per page).

@Spikey, for those without an on hand copy of the January Issue of Guitar Player Magazine, do you care to share a bit more about the technique or method suggested in the article you mentioned?

I have the Helix Floor unit that I use stand-alone. I bought Helix Native on sale last week for $69. Regarding Focusrite's Scarlett Solo and Scarlett 2i2 (both 2nd Gen), how well would these perform as Interface units for use with Helix Native? Obviously, the Helix Floor's proprietary electric guitar input impedence circuitry would be absent. How do the D/A converters and Input Sensitivity switching of these two Scarlett units compare to otherwise just using the Helix Floor. One nice feature of the Scarlett's is that their input controls have a color level indicator, and they are tiny units for one or two inputs respectively! ;)

Yup! Any USB Power source providing a rated 5v and at least 1Amp will suffice. The G10 Receiver base doesn't draw anywhere near an amp regardless when it is acting as a receiver and signal base feeding 1/4 and XLR signals sumultaneously, nor when it is recharging the G10 Transmitter's battery. The link you provided is a convenient and durable panel or frame mountable unit. However, for nearly $50, you would have lots of options. Many find a convenient rechargeable Lithium Battery Pack does the job as well. And, many of the better quality rechargeable lithium USB battery packs, have multiple USB outlets (some ranging in amperage up to 2.4A, and may be charged simultaneously as they are providing USB power to multiple devices. Go with whatever best suits your needs.

Awesome! Welcome aboard. Line 6 is running a promotion (fulfilled through the resellers) for a free Helix Backpack with purchase of a Helix Floor. If your reseller didn't mention this, be sure to get one from them. This may only be in the USA.

Obviouly! However, having to do the same after each download to several of my devices, and hearing about the same issue from others whom used the link, it was easire to simply correct the link. Saves everyone the headaches now....

Although the HX Edit pdf successfully opened in Chrome Browser on my Android Tablet, the downloaded file was missing the ".pdf" filetype. Thus, when attempting to open the document - locally - in Adobe Reader, the ".pdf" filetype association had to be added to the filename. Update: This worked better for me: http://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f991d5a1de0bc033cb/application/pdf/HX%20Edit%20Pilot.pdf

The Helix Floor's Two (2) additional FX Loops, dedicated Headphone Volume Control, Mic XLR Input and circuitry, and AuxIn for an Acoustic Guitar were all useful for me. The Scribble Strips are a delight, as are the additional footswitches and higher build quality. Currently, Line6 is running a Free Helix Backpack promotion with the purchase of a Helix Floor. This applys only to the Helix Floor; not Helix LT. Even for use at home, the Backpack is a fantastic storage case for the Helix, cables, headphones, etc. Additionally, should the Helix Native Plugin be of use to you (now or in the forseeable future) it is discounted to $99 for Helix Floor (and Rack) owners. For Helix LT owners the prices is $299. Also, be aware that until the end of the year the JBL LSR305 near field active Studio Monitors are on sale at the reduce price of $99 each. These are exceptional for their price point! Hope this helps with your considerations to get the Helix model that best suits you.
