  1. Use a wooden toothpick and change the recessed Sensitivity Switch on the rear of the JBL LSR308 to the -10dBu position. Set the JBL's volume control to 12 o'clock. Confirm the Helix's Global Settings > I/O (Page 2) for the 1/4" Main Out and XLR Main Out are each set for "Line" Level. Unless you want to disable Helix's Main Volume Knob for one of those format Main Out's leave it set to Multi on Global Settings > I/O (Page 3). Use a New (empty) Preset. Slowly increase Helix's Main Volume Knob as you play your guitar with the Guitar Vol Knobs turned up full. If your guitar has active pickups, check the battery. I have a pair of JBL LSR308, I use for near field. While they can get fairly loud at near field, they do not achieve PA Monitor SPLs!
  2. I would also be concerned with leverage forces of the OP's brass tabs method potentially deforming the Helix case (when not affixed to the larger pedal board base. I would be far more inclined to use several 2" wide strips Industrial Strength Velcro. YMMV
  3. Smaller reasonably priced Studio Monitors are ideal for near field ear level use. Their often uncovered speaker cones render them vulnerable to contact damage, and thus they're not the best for floor use or where they may get bumped, touched, etc. Otherwise, they can sound great!
  4. If Line 6 changed "Helix" to "Helix Editor" -- in the 2nd "Software" Column -- it would make things a lot clearer!! Doing so, would eliminate ONE of several ambiguities that commonly trips up some users.
  5. Just so everyone knows... The first three posts in this thread were BEFORE, the latest firmware revisions were released in September 2016! The current version firmware is 1.04.
  6. The G10 can be used with the Helix and it works quite well. You can connect either or both of the G10 Receiver's Base audio feeds (1/4" and XLR) t the Helix as you wish. Both may be used simultaneously. Power to the G10 Receiver must be from a USB Transfomer or a USB rechargeable battery pack. Just any any version of either will work fine. I use a rechargeable USB battery pack and it works great. Some have modified their G10 Receiver base units (voiding their warranty) to be powered from a pedal board's 9v DC power supply. I also have a 120 Volt inline power cord insert (it's called a Squid or Octopus). This goes in line in the AC Power cord where it connects to the Helix, and provides additional 3 Prong AC jacks.
  7. Helix's XLR Main Outs are balanced outputs.
  8. My suggestion is that you start from scratch. A New Preset. Leave Guitar Z on "Auto". Change Global Settings > I/O > Guitar Pad to "On". Place a Looper Block at the start of your Signal Path. Place an Amp+Cab Block in the middle of the Signal Path. Play something in the Looper, then allow it to Playback repeatedly. Step through the Amp+Cab Model offerings, one at a time, to explore what each sounds like at default parameters, and when you vary the Model's parameters. When done, you'll have a good idea which Models get you closest to what you like. Repeat with varying the Cab Parameters, if you did not do so while exploring the Amp+Cab Models. Add FX to taste.
  9. And, do not overlook that the Type, Style and Genre of material and how it is performed, recorded, mastered, also has a significant impact on how a given pair of headphones will sound.
  10. Nothing fancy. Often use Two for Analog Stereo pre-recorded material in. The other Two (sometimes) to compare how external FX pedals sound vs. what's in Helix, running an external Looper, or, when running 4CM.
  11. The Factory preload in the Helix LT includes all the same Amps, FX, and Cabs Models as the full Helix. The Factory preload includes Factory 1 and Factory 2 Presets in the Setlists 1 and 2 slots and Templates Presets in the Setlist 8 slot. There are no IRs loaded as part of the Factory preload. Nonetheless, Line 6 does have a link on their site to download a free set of IRs from Allure. Unfortunately, the Line 6 Search Tool doesn't return a hit, for the Allure IRs, and I don't recollect where it is listed on the site. Perhaps in the Helix area. If anyone has the link, please post it.
  12. Line 6 recently posted that Helix Native will sure not be released in April nor May. It is anticipated by late June; at the end of Spring.

    Preamp or amp

Don't overlook that using the Helix's FX Loop Send or Return Jack require that there be a Send or Return Block or FX Loop Block placed in Helix's Signal Path! Otherwise, you won't hear anything routed through those jacks.
  14. My suggestion would be to connect one of Helix's FX Sends to the front of your amp. Set Helix's Global > I/O (for the FX Send you use) to Instrument Level. Insert the selected FX Send Block after your other FX in your Signal Path. It is very easy to move should you desire. Leave the Guitar Z setting at "Auto." Many prefer changing Helix's Guitar In Pad to "On." (The Default is "Off"). Alterntaively, you may use Helix's Main Out. Set Helix's Global >I/O for the Main Ou to Instrument Level. Helix's Main Vol Knob will control the signal level to your Amp unless you reconfigure it in Global I/O. You may insert a Vol Block (already assigned to Helix's built in Foot Pedal) near the end of your Signal Path.
  15. Also take into consideration your playing postion relative to your speakers and computer (if using one). If you are seeking a high level of imaging in your sound field while at your computer, you will want a pair of high quality near field Studio Monitors. These will work equally well for pre-recorded material as for what you will be playing through your Helix and computer. For a bigger more room filling sound, you can add either an actual amp in the room, or a pair of main monitors if you space can accomodate either. As has been mentioned there are myriad choices, so as the saying goes YMMV.
  16. The informed and knowledgable replies to the OP's scenario reflect a perfect example of the abounding ambiguity and confusion which results from Line 6's existing methods! The sooner Line 6 overhauls this portion of their site and software, the better it will be for all users.
  17. Uninstall all the Line 6 software from your computer! Redownload a fresh copy of the Helix Editor Application and Run it. This should reinstall everything needed.
  18. Nice feature suggestion -- as an option. Voted.
  19. You may also want to include the more reasonably priced Yamaha DBR10 amongst your candidates. The DBR series is nearly identical sonically to the DXR, and they share the same DSP, Contour, and HPF features. The DBR has slightly lower power and does not have RCA Line 3 Inputs. I run a pair of DXR10, either, as wedge monitors, or standing vertically, and the sound with the Helix is exceptional!
  20. I have read reports from some who actually removed the guitar jack, and threaded the stem so that it extended slightly from the body, thereby allowing the tiny collar switch to be fully pressed when the G10 Transmitter is fully inserted into the jack. The washers will also work so long as the tip of the G10's 1/4 plug seats properly in the guitar's jack. There is also the 90 Degree (right angle) Mono TS Male to Mono TS female adapter. I use one of these whenever I play any of my Les Pauls seated on the couch. Do so allows the G10 Transmitter sit 90 degrees to the edge of the body rather than extending staight outward. Also, some have found a straight Mono TS Male to Mono TS female cord about 1 foot in length works well to allow the G10 Transmitter to be draped between the Guitar Strap and the guitar body at the lower bout strap button.
  21. Regarding the Charging Green LED Issue. This was resolved by the firmware updates issued after you bought yours. Install the latest firmware 1.04 version and that should resolve your issues. As for the USB port connection, if it is not maintaining a reliable power nor data connection this may be due to a weak, failed or faulty USB jack connection to the PCB. This was a common problem with early units, and uite familiar to Line 6. Contact them directly and Customer Tech Support will almost assuredly replace your unit. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they replacedd it for you under Warranty as the units have only been out for about a year. Moreover, as this was a known problem, they may well replace it for you even if your 1 Year warranty has already expired. If you bought it from Sweetwater you'll have a 2 year warranty. And, if you used a credit card with extended warranty coverage, you're also certainly under warranty coverage.

    Tuner

Until the Helix Tuner's Visual Display is properly dampened, such that it presents a stable and accurate graphic, such as the case with the majority of readily available free tuner apps and reasonably priced tuner's (Snarks, PolyTune Clip, BOSS inline tuners, etc.) this issue will persist. Line 6 needs to resolve this and put the issue to rest.
  23. Firstly, you should confirm that your G10 is running the current firmware version 1.04! If it is not running firmware 1.04, install firmware version 1.04! Then, fully charge the Transmitter. During charging the Transmitter's Green LED blinks. When Fully Charged, the Transmitter's LED will be steady Green. If, you are not going to be immediately using the G10, unplug it slightly (one click) from the Receiver base unit's charging jack. This turns the G10 Transmitter Off. You may also turn off the power to the Charging Base Receiver if you wish. The G10 Transmitter's On/Off button is the small spring loaded collar switch at the base of the Transmitter's 1/4" Shaft. When this is fully depressed -- as when the G10 Transmitter is fully seated in a female 1/4" jack -- the G10 Transmitter is on. When this is not depressed the G10 Transmitter is Off. When the G10 is left fully seated in a guitar's Jack, the unit will go into Standby in about 4 minutes of no audio signal. The Standby battery rating is 200 Hours. Once fully charged, the G10 Transmitter's battery will last for weeks! If you are still having problems, contact your vendor or Line 6 Customer Support to get things sorted out.

    Old Man Happy

Now your Spikey screen name makes more sense! Clean that finger!!! And, heal up quickly! ;)
  25. At Line 6's late August 2016 Open House Event, they were proudly asserting that Helix sales had already exceeded 10,000 units! I forgot to ask the same question at Winter NAMM in January. I would only be guessing as to what the unit sales figure would be today.
