    Charmdate reviews

Victor, I am always amazed at your ability to answer questions on this forum with such thorough and in-depth knowledge. ;)
  2. A Cat5 or Cat5e will work. I have also used a Cat7 without problem. Cat7's tend to be more robust cable than a Cat5, though Cat5 is recommended.
  3. There is no delay when switching presets via foot controller. It is pretty instantaneous. Unfortunately there isn't a way to assign the tuner for instant on/off. The "hold for tuner/ tap tempo" is the only way to access the tuner on the amp or foot controller. It really only takes a second, but I understand your situation may not allow for even that!
  4. The FBV 3 does work with Amplifi however the foot-switches will be red. The colored foot-switches work with Firehawk 1500 and the Spider V series. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/fbv-mki-mkii-controllers/the-complete-line-6-pedal-compatibility-faq-r58
  5. The function button on the FBV 3 will control the looper on your Spider V 120. Hitting the function button once begins recording the loop (LED turns red) Hitting the function button again stops recording and the loop begins playing (LED turns green) Hitting the function button once more allows you to overdub (LED is yellow) Hitting function again will bring you out of overdub mode (back to green LED) To stop the loop, hit function twice quickly (LED turns white), the loop is still available until you erase it or turn of the amp. Simply hit function for the loop to begin playing again. To erase a loop hold function down for a few seconds. Hope this helps!
  6. To be sure, which product are you planning on using the FBV3 with? Each bank contains 4 presets assigned to foot switches A,B,C,D. Switching to another bank will bring up another 4 presets you can choose from. If you have 3 presets that you want to access quickly in succession you can save them in the same bank in adjacent presets; for instance save them in 5A, 5B, 5C.
  7. You can use Amplifi 30 to record as a USB interface. I have never used bandhub, but have used my amplifi 30 to record into Logic no problem. If your UX2 works with bandhub, then Amplifi 30 should no problem.
  8. Sounds like this should work no problem as your headphones use radio frequency and the G10 uses digital wireless.
  9. A loop cannot be saved and recalled for later use. You can record a loop while a drum beat is playing, but the drum beat is technically not a part of the loop. You can overdub layers on a loop, I'm not sure on limit. I believe after a very high number overdubs on a loop before the older layers drop in volume under new overdubs.
  10. Hi SafetySam, if you were able to update to 2.11 successfully then you should have the Helix editor on your computer. The Helix Editor and Line 6 Updater get downloaded at the same time. Trying searching Helix in spotlight on you Mac, you should be able to find the editor, simply titled "Helix". If it simply isn't there you can download it on the page I have provided a link for by searching for Helix with your OS. Once you get to the software page you need, the "Get Download" button is in the bottom right corner of the most recent post. Hope this helps. http://line6.com/software/index.html
  11. I'll second the overdrives as well, you can find very useable effects in all the categories. Some of these may not find a ton of use in a cover band situation, but some effects that standout to me in the m5 are the Auto Volume Delay, Opto Tremolo, Obi-Wah, attack and string synth, octo and cave reverb.
  12. Kinglexrt, you can search for presets by username in the same place you search for them by song/album/artist. Simply search with the username. You need to type out the full username when searching this way.
  13. I uploaded a preset to the cloud that I hope comes close to what you're looking for. You can find it by searching my username: adbrown
  14. The guitar will play a large part in this tone, you'll want something fully hollow or semi. A good amp to start with the chorus-y smooth jazz sound is the jc-120 model. JC stands for jazz chorus, so it is very fitting. I like to use the analog chorus paired with this amp for that chorus-y, 80s, metheny-esque sound. I also like a bit of delay and I think the dark hall reverb works very well for jazz. I will try and make a preset and upload it for you to work from.
  15. If you use the XLR outs on the back of the Spider V 120 to a sound system you will still get sound from the amp. The Master Volume on the amp will still control the amp level but will not effect the XLR out level.
  16. If the signal is sent into amplitube and there is no further processing or modeling done to the signal then it sounds like you would be setup to get the pure signal from firehawk.
  17. Here are some ideas posted that come very close or near to yours http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Option-to-assign-Snapshots-to-switches-in-10-Switch-Stomp-Mode/833058-23508 http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/More-stomps-avail-rather-than-snapshots-via-mode-button/832503-23508
  18. Looks like a product manager commented this on a to do list, which is great news! However, some things take time. Product managers at Line 6 frequently check up on Line 6 Ideascale, a place where end users can make suggestions and vote on suggestions toward current and future products. It might be worth posting your request on Ideascale or seeing if this request has been made already and voting for it. http://line6.ideascale.com/

    Happy Helix

Merry Christmas! Happy to hear the Helix is fitting your needs so well!
  20. It is possible to turn off all modeling in Amplifi. Turning off the effects modeling is pretty straightforward, you simply turn them off. To get no amp modeling, select your amp block, select the clean category of amps, and the first option is no amp. You will just have audio signal you input without any modeling. Depending on what you are recording this could be a solution.
  21. You could use a graphic EQ and boost everything; I would personally focus more boost in the mids to cut through. Another option would be to leave the Studio EQ rather neutral and use the volume control in the bottom right corner as a boost.
  22. I will second what paulcutrona has said. Using EQ as a boost can is very transparent. I also like to use the screamer at low to no gain with the vol up for a bit of boost, which definitely a thickening of the sound and some ever so slight coloration.
  23. Hi, if I understand correctly, you are running your Firehawk FX through the front of your Line 6 Low Down 150 bass amp? If so, you may be losing out on sound quality with some of the effects because of your setup. The LD 150 only has a 12"woofer, no tweeter, so you could be missing some end shimmer and sparkle in any of the effects. Also there is no effects loop on the LD 150, so running through the front of the amp forces you to go through the bass amp model you have selected, which isn't ideal if you are already using amp modeling on the firehawk. I suggest trying the Firehawk with a guitar amp via the 4 cable method or with a FRFR (full range flat response speaker) for best sounding results. Which effects do you find not sounding so great? Can you maybe explain "sounds depleted on the end" a bit more? I hope this is of some help.
  24. Yes, a Cat7 cable works with the FBV3. Another member on here recommended this Cat7 cable listed in the link below. I bought one and it functions just fine with my FBV3. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019VSRQTO
