Warmouth Necks / Variax Guitars
DanishMic replied to specracer986's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I do not own a Variax yet - thinking of getting one. Upgrading with a Warmouth neck seems to be one way of going. So i have a few questions: Does a standard Strat spec. neck fit a Variax guitar? Is there a lot of setting up to do? After doing yours would you recommend a Proff. to do the job or is it easy enough to do? (I understand you should know the basic stuff and have just a bit of ability to work with your hands and tools. :) ) -
Could not agree more. I converted from AX8 to Helix and I still have my AX8 - want to keep it as spare. but I will sell it to get another Helix. I do not use the High gain amps - more clean and overdriven tones. I am very happy. Helix Editing is light years ahead of Fractal. I enjoy creating presets and the ease of getting them sounding good and to my "tone in my head". With the fractal I used only the computer interface to create resets - with the Helix I mostly create presets on the Helix. Very easy and straight forward. I love the scribble strips and the big screen.

VERY nice. Hope it sounds and feels as good as it looks :)

Welcome - you are in for a treat. Had mine for 2 month and love it.

Hi - I purchased the Mission as well... I plan to use the Mission for Everything else than Vol pedal (I use the Onboard EXP for Vol) So Wah, Delay, Gain, you name it.

Agree with pbatts, the JDX are used between Amp and Cab to capture the full rig signal and send to FOH. If you want to scale down (and I understand taking amp and cab out of the Rig) - then use direct out from Helix to Mixer. And add Amp and Cab in your presets in the Helix. Try it - it works very well.

Andy Timmons - Deliver Us intro Cover with Helix
DanishMic replied to ChristianArnold's topic in Helix
Sweet - and yes lets see the patch please. -
It is a fair question. I ran into the same issue when i started with my Helix. I could not believe it - not enough power for 2 amps! Until I read about the 2 path DSP design. After that I have never been in trouble. So I was right I should not believe it. I am an AX8 user s well and I often got into processing power issues. I added a H9 for reverb and Pitch - saved me here. Keep rocking and creating great noise with your Helix.

List your real Overdrive Pedals that you use with Helix

JHS Sweet The. (and a H9 for Pitch) -
+1 to that. I always do that. That is first step to better sound and cut through in live situation (and at rehearsal).

Hi and welcome. As you can see there are a lot of very helpful people at this forum. I do agree that the best way to learn is done by having the unit next to you. Before i got mine i: Did a lot of reading in this forum. Downloaded the manual - did not spend a lot of time in this as Helix is very easy to handle. Viewed a lot of youTube videos Made notes of specific settings like IR / Cab low and Hi cuts and so. just to give me a checklist of settings that worked for other people. Made note of a few IR that other recommended (for my kind of music) Videos like Helix Minute - short and sweet Building presets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKG83A22c-s Line6 videos: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/tutorial-videos/line-6-video-tutorials-complete-list-r202 You can pick quite a lot up from there. But as I am very hands on I had to go through all again to learn once my Helix arrived. Good luck and remember - you can get great tones from this unit.....

Joining for some experiences with this. Looks like a way to go. I have a Matrix GT1000FX and a MAtrix NL12. Sounds killer. 3 things make me look at different options: 1. the Matrix is running at 240v only 2. Matrix GT1000FX is in a rack case 3. would be way more easy to only have 1 cab wich an amp build in.

I am using the DXR10 as well. DXR10 are great. I did have a L3T at some point - sounded great - but had issues with mine. Volume just dropped and then came back after a few minutes. Could not get repaired - so I exchanged to a DXR10. I do however have a buddy that uses L3T and they do sound great.

very nice indeed. So you got an H9 under the hood - cool. All controlled by midi I guess. Is it a HOG2 I spot? What size board do you have here?

Super - Thanks for that

Welcome - let the fun begin..

+1 to that. Totally agree. Also - It might have been mentioned - but worth mentioning again. Create your preset / sound at home and tweak it to match the bands sound picture at rehearsal. Do the final adjustment at gigging level. Record and listen - get other fellow guitar players and band members to give advise and recommendations to your sound. We all know that the fat juicy sound you create at home suddenly sounds weird and weak in band context. That goes for Digital as well as old school amp and pedalboard. Sound and how you approach the multi instrument situation all adds up. Most importantly - don't give up - keep rocking.

I do agree. The interface makes you want to create. Unreal easy and intuitive. Way ahead others.
