  1. zippo. but I also do a lot of work in IT repair/data recovery. I know how things can blow out, and Adelaide is terrible for any type of parts. I know vendors don't return calls/emails for a day or 2 sometimes. It took HP 5 months to organise a return of 30 incorrectly ordered items. I counted 9 phone calls and 7 emails, many of which promised "will be able to give an answer tomorrow" or "escalated to a department that will sort it out". The repair centre is just one guy working at the back of his house. So not like a team of technicians that can drop everything and sort out 1 customer. I will give it a few days and hopefully can put this behind me after!!
  2. and who said you need a reason anyway (apart from the wife of course!)
  3. Which surface do you have? I manage 60 surface 4 pro's and a mix of surface 3 Pro's and RT's I have found many issues are fixed with current software for them. not sure of your foray into this area so forgive me if this is stuff you have done already or know all about. MS have mad my life so much easier with bundling drivers and firmware updates to various parts of the surfaces in a single file. just run the .msi and all drivers are updated and firmware as well in one fell swoop. do a winver and look at your win10 build. Download just the appropriate file for your system. latest supported Surface pro3 win 10 version is v1703 (10.0.15063) latest supported Surface pro4 win 10 version is v1709 (10.0.16299) Surface 3 Pro: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38826 Surface 4 Pro : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49498 it could be just a slight bug/hiccup in your system the driver borks at. I advise to also download the latest cumulative update to windows as well. go to the following and click the "Last Updated" heading to sort by most recent and download .msi to bring windows fully up to date. 1709: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 1303: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Cumulative+Update+for+Windows+10+Version+1703 BTW if your surface has applied the 1803 upgrade, good luck as I have had some issues with it! Reason why I am not focusing on the driver is sometimes a bad OTHER driver stops a different one working right such as a vga card or audio. before you start, maaybe uninstall helix driver and reinstall after updating everything. once again, sorry if this is preaching to the choir good luck!!
  4. got a call today saying he was waiting for a mainboard, or if they don't have one in stock they will send a new unit. Apparently by tomorrow (18-May-2018) should be done or close to it. looking forward to trying it out!
  5. The Amplifi. Answered here as the people that were involved in the conversation were here. All Amplifi stuff from now on is continued in this thread: https://line6.com/support/topic/32532-amplifi-75-not-responding-all-tone-leds-solid-no-guitar-sound/
  6. Called it! "Waiting for parts will be next if I was a betting man..." Sent another email last night asking for an update. got a call today saying he was waiting for a mainboard, or if they don't have one in stock they will send a new unit. Apparently Friday should be done or close to it. can't wait ! (well I can!)
  7. I remember totally blown away by the sounds my Guitar teacher made with my own Epihone LP Gold top.. I thought it was the best guitar on the planet, never really being around any other players. That was until a guy started working along side me that could play and basically said Epihone LP was a poor mans Gibson. I was crushed, and relayed it to my teacher, where he promptly showed me that was Lollypop, and made that Epi sing like no tomorrow! OWW!! that me kicking myself again for selling it!
  8. Just wondering how long after you have taken a line6 product to a service centre for a fault did you get it back fixed? Australians probably most relevant for this question but interested in all over out of general curiosity. Took it in 11th April, 3 weeks later(2nd May) I called after no response to email and was told hadn't looked at it but would that day. Still not heard anything as of Friday 11th May.
  9. https://line6.com/software/index.html go to software and choose line 6 edit go to OS and choose windows 8. if you dont have line 6 account you'll need to create one. good luck!
  10. you can set win10 to auto apply patches and reboot automatically. It is almost basically the default. Try disabling them or turning off updates completely, and see how hard it is! :-)
  11. I wonder if running the program in compatibility mode would help? right-click the icon and choose "troubleshoot compatibility" and try some options.
  12. Thanks for all the input. As @phil_m points out, it was a while after I got it that I had time to actually do anything, and as I don't gig, I can afford to see the support route play out, albeit uncomfortably frustrating. The aim of the post was to show the confusion around support in general, not really about Amplifi itself, I agree with @psarkissian. the first level of support was actually pretty good with only hours between responses at times. There is a few steps in the process that I'm critical about, its the combination of these that's drawn it out. hope the OP gets his High E sorted :)
  13. My experience with a Brand new Amplifi75... well I cant say how good it is, as I haven't been able to use it yet, but it looks pretty good for practice and home use.. 30-Jan-2018 - Purchased online 09-Feb-2018 - Registered and downloaded software. was not able to do anything else due to life commitments. 14-Mar-2018 - Finally got it out from the box, tried to update, device not responding 14-Mar-2018 - checked forums, went through what I could, but honestly device is unresponsive so could not do diddly 14-Mar-2018 - created support ticket 15-Mar-2018 - contacted place of purchase outlining (in detail) my issue. They responded with a note that they are chasing up the importer of a uitar and will respond.. obviously a communication mixup. 15-Mar-2018 - Line6 support reply: Brian, Sorry to see you are experiencing trouble installing the latest firmware update on your AMPLIFi 75. I would suggest that you first try performing a factory reset on the AMPLIFi 75 by holding the 'Tone' button and master volume knob down as you power on the AMPLIFi 75, this is despite in my initial support I included: 15-Mar-2018 - After reply, Line6 agree it needs escalation. I was told to contact Yamaha Australia. 15-Mar-2018 - Yamaha tell me to contact a repair centre near me and give me contact details. 16-Mar-2918 - I call the service guy and he tells me this is bulldust. I should be returning it to where I bought it for a refund or replacement (as per AU retail Law). 16-Mar-2018 - I call music store. They say they will call line6 and get back to me. 19-Mar-2018 - I call to find out whats going on. An email bounced that they had sent me. They advise they have asked Yamaha again for a solution and should have an answer by the next day. 21-Mar-2018 - Music store asks for serial number (would have thought they would have it, but ok) - I send it. 26-Mar-2018 - I ask for update and store says they submitted serial number and waiting for Yamaha. 10-Apr-2018 - Yamaha get back to store - tell me to take it to the repair centre! (same one as in the beginning, doh!) 11-04-2018 - I take it and drop it at repair guy. 02-May-2018 - I call repair guy and he says he hasnt had a chance to look at it but will today... today.. still dreaming of one day banging out "Still got the blues".. Australia the lucky country? not so much
  14. it is a personal preference, much like the argument of "best car" lets say you try 10 guitars, and say "wow" this yamaha feels like the best guitar I have ever played!" well is it the "best".. another person may say no, try the fender.. What if you havent heard of a brand? Also you dont say what type of music, or what you personally are going to play. If you are just starting out, more importantly is probably figuring out a) a budget, and b) a style of music to narrow down the choices. go to a guitar shop and have a "play".. if you dont know how to play anything yet, at least have a feel of them.. probably take someone that knows a bit about guitars. Dont go nuts on a $2,000 guitar if you are not sure how long you will play, or if you will give up or not. I bought a gold top Epiphone Les paul as my first guitar and loved it. It was AU$595. I sold it (stupidly) a few years ago to buy a laptop, but now have a secondhand Ibanez Gio that I bought for $200 and spent $250 at a guitar shop to get perfect. I like this one too. I think these are a pretty cheap guitar.
  15. no it isnt :-( But loks like they are trying to keep guitars, and restructure away from other bad business segments. how do you get $500 million in debt??? I owe less than $10K and I still cant sleep at night!!! http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-gibson-bankruptcy-20180501-story.html
  16. there wont be a schematic. Line6 Intillectual property. But they use standard dsp chips so should be too hard to troubleshoot if you have electronics background. Crashing from time to time, but working other times is very hard to diagnose and I suspect some sort of software issue. Such as firmware bug/corruption or a user editable part that has an error that isnt handled by OS very well. better to get line6 to fix if possible IMHO.
  17. Hi, I would either take a pick of the label and look for exact replacement, or contact http://www.fullcompass.com/ and see if they have one. The stock things like replacement Motherboards etc for Amplifi
  18. Hi, anything here under the "legacy products" menu right at the bottom of support page? https://line6.com/legacy/vettaiihd
  19. You will see the same in any techy forum. Problem is, a lot of people dont understand the relevent posts that are already included in previous forum threads until a certain point. And this is usually after asking the same old questions. I am very technical in computing having been programming, reverse engineering software sice early 1990's, and IT manager in education setting up and maintaing networks of hundreds of PCs. been playing guitar in a very hobby based setting, using only a small standard fender amp. now been trying to get a handle on the audio stuff after buying an Amplifi75 and it is incredibly complex. most of the advice is experience driven. I guess it comes down to how helpful an individual chooses to be to posters of all the same old questions.
  20. Hi, not sure MS has a GX driver. I suspect it is finding a generic for whatever the GX looks like to windows. what you might try is : a)uninstall all drivers related and if you see the option "also delete driver files" b) DO NOT PLUG ANYTHING IN YET, and first install the proper toneport drivers c) plug in and windows should find the driver. you could stop windows from auto installing... but it may have ramifications on other stuff you plug in: How to Disable Automatic Driver Downloads on Windows 10 Right click the Start button and select Control Panel. 2. Make your way to System and Security. Click System. Click Advanced system settings from the left sidebar. Select the Hardware tab. Press the Device Installation Settings button. Choose No, and then press the Save Changes button. another option is shown here, and there are other similar pages you could google for: https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninstall-and-block-updates-and-drivers-on-windows-10/ good luck!
  21. yes there are supply problems, not sure of exact reason. see another thread about it. It happens from time to time for various reasons. https://line6.com/support/topic/33145-whats-going-on-with-g70g75-in-europe/
  22. Hi, have you seen the support page for it? if not it is here: https://line6.com/legacy/toneportux2/ in the manual it says it is available at https://shop.line6.com/ hope that helps! be interested to know what you think of it in case another pops up around me. Cheers Brian
  23. maybe their android app has issues with Oreo. The nexus 5 had what.. Marshmallow? I guess I will find out when/if I ever get a working Amplifi75 back. Have you created a support ticket with Line6? You may get some answers and may also show them they need to maybe update their app. It was updated on 2-feb-2018 so they are still working on it at least in some way
  24. try logging out of all devices first, then going into settings and deleting app temporary data on each device.. kinda like deleting temporary internet files on a windows PC in internet explorer. My (Brand New) Amplifi75 is in getting repaired so I can't test it, but the steps on my android S9+ phone is as follows: settings->Device Management->Memory and click "clean now" you can select only the apps you want to clean memory from, or click the down arrow and deselect all except the ones you want to it should refresh session data
  25. pretty sure I read somewhere the FBV3 works with amplifi, but led colours dont change. I think also this pedal came out after amplifi, so compatibility is not 100%. Guessing it is because there is no functions in amplifi/firehawk to change led colours.
