  1. I also feel the strat model sounds much worse. The position 1 semi hollow too, at least for me. I haven't fiddled with them in workbench though. May still be able to coax better tones from them.
  2. I think I have the same problem as you do. I had 9's on my guitar since I got it new a few years ago. I noticed the alt tuning problem on the low e string. I recently had 10's put on it, and a setup at the same time. Now I notice the problem on the e and a strings. It's like there's a slight delay in detuning, so you get this odd off pitch tone when plucking the string. The notes also seem kind of choked off. Banging away on power chords I don't notice it. It's mostly on single notes. I am going to put 9's back on it the next string change.
  3. Couldn't you also just roll the volume down on your jtv and accomplish the same thing, with very little effort?
  4. Thank you all for taking to time to listen and reply. To me, the problem is most noticeable on the 1/2 down example. There is a noticeable pulsing, similar to the sound you heard when tuning using harmonics. I normally use 9's on my guitars, but thought I would try 10's since that's what line 6 ships the jtv's with. When I did that, I now notice the noise on the 5th and 6th strings. I only heard it on the low E prior. I plan on trying 8's to see if that makes any difference.
  5. Now with the audio file jtv alt tuning warble.mp3
  6. Ok, this has been bugging me for a while. I finally got around to recording the warble noise I hear on my jtv 69 when using alt tunings. This example was recorded direct, with no speakers on during the recording. I have the current version firmware version installed on my jtv. I start out with no modeling, using pickup setting 2. From there I turn on the modeling (spank, standard tuning) and scroll through the various tuning modes (drop d, 1/2 step, drop d flat, one step down and baritone). I have tried dampening the strings behind the nut as well as dampening the trem spring. The warble remains. The guitar is tuned to standard using 10 gauge strings. The trem is not floating. I think the warble/pulse is clear to hear. Let me know if you hear it to.
  7. I have the tripleplay on my 69. Setup was fine. The tripleplay shows up as a midi device in my daw (fl studio).
  8. I would take it in for a pro setup. My guitars always bend easier when they are setup properly.
  9. I prefer to add verb, tweak eq as needed (usually low end roll off) and apply multi band maximizer to my acoustic tracks.
  10. I love most of the new hd update, but the semi hollows all took a hit, imho. They all seem to have lost a lot of body. Any of you played around yet with customizing them to beef them back up?
  11. I noticed a few pops when changing the 5way selector on my jtv 69 as I auditioned the various new hd models. I was only connected to my amp.
  12. I have the ftp installed on my jtv 69. No issues with it fitting correctly. Love the ftp.
  13. I am interested in this also. If anyone has gut shots of how the piezos should be wired, I would appreciate seeing them.
  14. I usually prefer position 3 when recording. Most times, the others have too much low end, especially position 5. This track uses all three models. P1 is panned left, P5 is center and P1 is right. https://soundcloud.com/project-dome/carefree-sunshine
  15. I have the same issue with my 69. I really don't think it has anything to do with sympathetic vibrations, since I hear the same thing when recording direct with headphones on. The low strings just don't ring clearly when using alt tunings.
