  1. Memory Integrity is useless for people using their workstation as they should be used.
  2. Oh sure, I was specifically talking about modeled pedals. Hardware side, I would be an idiot to say something bad about it. :) The overall palette of sound design, offered by today fractals, is pretty much the same rock/metal/fusion oriented palette as 30 years ago. Which is good for the vast majority of guitarist of course. Was just underlining the obvious; to each his own. :)
  3. Fractal engineering seems stuck to '90 in terms of sound design offered by their modeled pedals. Weird. For the kind of music I play, I couldnt be a fractal user, ever. They just dont have stuff I need. Maybe in the early 90, when I was a trash metal kiddo. :D Line 6 are constantly looking around, and keeping the pace also with modern pedal design, which is what keep me linked to that brand. Amp tone is just the very basic atom of a guitar tone, I will never understand the obsession around it....
  4. That's not a correct approach; the range you see in the manufacturer specs is referred to speaker only typically measured in a anechoic chamber with a measurement mic. An impulse response, and latest cabs, are based on full measurements of Speaker+Cab+Mic+Room. If you arbitrary cut the range of a cab or IR, to be in the range of the raw speaker specs, you'll be basically interfering with the full simulation response. As said above, a cab or a IR, already has its own correct profile. Id shape that range through the low/high cut, only to compensate your actual speaker/monitors (still I'd leave them alone for recording), in the case something doesn't sound good. Like too boomy, too fizzy, etc...
  5. Is there an admin here to pin the above tutorial thread? Hellooooo?
  6. Omg... did someone in the crowd pissed you off? +___+
  7. Sounds like hardware, probably power related. The fact it's showing up after the firmware could be just a coincidence.
  8. Just do your own research. There are like billions of youtube folks doing intensive tests and showing off every single detail of these things, A/B'ing them all etc.. Then, if you have a local store with an HX machine on the floor, just test it yourself.
  9. 60/70% of my drivers are flagged as non compliant with CI, since latest updates. These drivers are mostly related to pro hardware that, for the nature of the products, can't be updated too often (pro grade automotive simulation). No one in the team could work at all if we had to chase these MS bull***. :) So yeah, CI off all day long, forever and ever.
  10. yes, all bars are in reference with the bottom milliseconds scale.
  11. Dont want to open another fractal can of worms, but when you spend 3, 4, or 5K on a piece of hardware, that it's also being used by your guitar heroes, you have the most powerful placebo effect available on the market, right there. On a blind test, you'll get completely different numbers. :) StatingTheObvious Mode OFF/

    Helix 3.5

Line 6 isnt using the forum to promote the new firmware like in the past, which is looking sloppy if you ask me. This forum is pretty much "community driven" now, and you can find dozens of threads about 3.5.

    Helix 3.5

    This is getting ridicolous indeed...

    Helix 3.5

Follow this tutorial and you'll be fine! :)
  15. Yep. When it comes about latency, GT1000 kicks everyone's lollipop.
  16. Sell the HXFX and buy the Floor or LT. Fractal has better presets maybe, but I seriously doubt you couldnt get a very similar amp tone dialing with Helix, especially with latest firmware. Also, Helix wins in terms of ADAC latency.
  17. For real stereo, if you have room for proper separation, two +112 are better of course...but also means more trouble if you gig a lot as it's more stuff to move, more stuff to wire etc... StatingTheObviousMODE OFF/
  18. Mine are exactly as the one I saved in the backup. Are you sure you didnt reset globals after the update and the bkp restore?
  19. If you are too close to the two speakers, every inch and every degree of movement will make one of the two predominant. Pretty normal. Said that, as soon as L and R are on the same level, you are good. Also it's possible you are getting some phasing, while playing with delays. Id rather use two slightly different mic position/angle, instead of introducing arbitrary delays between the speakers. Matter of personal taste tho.
  20. I don't use the HX Stomp as interface, and the HX Edit isn't really mandatory to make a preset. Actually, I almost never use it, but I 100% understand your point as a user. Still, in 10 years from now, HX Stomp will still work as standalone device, like my '90 Oberheim loopers, or a glamourish ART SGX 2000. It will sounds as today, reactivity will be the same (as there is no planned obsolescence injected by the OS), and it will still be possible to edit presets directly on the device (unless something breaks apart of course). The only thing that it will eventually expire, will be the audio interface aspect due the legacy driver and protocols. On the other hand, where market is thinner in a niche of a niche, there are products like the FH1500, that have been abandoned pretty much instantly after the launch. The app barely works today on iOS, and doing presets onboard it's a miserable experience... That's bloody annoying indeed.
  21. Im sure you got what I mean. ;) I still have and use rack/pedal stuff I bought in the early '80. I can't barely use my iPad Pro first gen, due the planned obsolescence made by Apple. I was referring to DSP age, that doesn't suffer planned obsolescence. You are referring to interface protocols, that's another story.
  22. Line6/Yamaha goal is to keep the Helix family still attractive in the market, as much as they can - to make good money and pay the team involved. This means the obsolescence will never be artificial, like it happens with computers, laptops and smartphones, through the various OS update. If you buy an iPad/iPhone today, will feel quick as a blink of an eye and smooth as silk. In 4 or 5 years will start glitching, lagging, slowing down and at some point it will be flagged as legacy, and won't receive new updates...there you go, you are "gently" forced to buy a new one to get back THE SAME efficiency you had with the "old one". That's the only way they have to keep an oversaturated market alive; making a perfectly fine piece of hardware, looking and feeling old as soon as they can. Audio DSP hardware, thanks the lord, never worked that way, so you can still use a Pod, or first gen Fractal, or a 20 years old Eventide rack, same way you were doing when they came out 5, 10 or 30 years ago. Long Live to Line 6 and Helix. ;)
  23. I managed to see the extra DSP in action, doing presets from scratch, and indeed you can manage to squeeze things better, which means I could get back few of the grayed out effects when using last gen of amp/cab. I still cant improve my old own presets, I guess because they already use demanding stuff (like glitch delay, reverbs, picth etc...). You can be happy now. No Panic ;)
