  1. me too! but i think the choice was wait until it was completely ready or release it with the interface support only and fix it later.... since they all shipped with the interface, i think that it was a fair decision... having said that i still hate messing with it... and would far prefer a pod solution.
  2. no idea how long it will take, ... from what i understand they have to do some driver work (my limited knowledge/interpretation...) but i wouldn't say there's alot of problems with 2.0... just some different opinions... watch some of the great comparison videos and make your own decisions... i personally think that the update is incredible! and you'll see posts to that effect as well....
  3. wow dude! i was just having a mad love affair with jazzbox 4 last night (super 400/neck) i suppose it depends on what you're looking for, but it was giving me what i wanted last night.
  4. Well said.... i'm sure that there are tools in the new workbench to get you closer... i suppose knowing the difference between the 2 modeled strats would tell you where to look... i'm sure that someone will come up with the a model thats closer before we know it... i may take a crack at it a bit later myself...
  5. it seems pretty far removed... but i can hear some of those 1.9 stratlike qualities in the v2 400/jazzbox models... obviously a little different animal... but the smooth/warm tone is in there... the 400/jazzbox models anyway i KNOW it's not a strat... doesn't sound like one... just talking about some of the tonal qualities, that you like in the 1.9 strats.
  6. v2 sounds better to me... granted your playing in the video sounds more inspired on 1.9... dude... just admit it.. .YOU prefer 1.9.... no problem at all with that... but presenting your preference as some sort of fact is not accurate.
  7. it very obviously is a problem of opinion... because my opinion is that the strat and every other guitar is vastly improved.... you disagree... or should we say... have a different opinion. i didn't love the previous strat... it was ok, but wasn't a particular favorite... you are assuming that everyone shares your opinion... it's very subjective and there will surely be those that agree with you.... as there are surely those that will agree with me... the old strat is still there... just downgrade to 1.9 and enjoy.
  8. there is no plug and play variax solution... and none of the variax parts are sold outside of the guitar... you'd basically have to buy a variax and steal the guts... then have it transplanted into your guitar. if you are serious about keeping your current guitar, the variax isn't for you... sure there has been some great transplants... but the level of change you'd need to do to retrofit your current guitar, probably would make the guitar itself different... and NO... the hd500 does not do the guitar modeling.
  9. it would help 59 owners a little if you just made the 2/4 switch position indicators.. blue! would make a little sense and won't bother 69/89 users.
  10. yeah saw it a while back... pretty good watch.
  11. sounds dangerous... can you imagine initiating that to retune but opps forgot i had the variax dialed down a step... =loads of extra neck tension, and/or snapped strings... i do imagine it can be done though....
  12. try downgrading to a 1.7 or 1.8 fw first and then jumping straight to v2... you'd be surprised how many times something like that has made the difference for people... the variaxes have always been finicky with flashing IMO... i'd also advise unplugging everything non-essential if flashing from a pod... if from the interface i'd also take all non essential usb out of the mix as well... a pain... yes... but as i said.. it tends to work in the end for most.
  13. still available in the line6 store: https://www.globalfulfillment.net/gfsnet/line6/10Expand.aspx?ProductCode=98-034-0105
  14. i just use the pod... no use for batteries at all... perhaps that doesn't fit into your ideal... but it is a solution available to anyone.
  15. when the sheet is layed on the table in front of you... you are looking at the guitars upside down... which in turn becomes the right way... as if you were holding it and the switch is also the right way then... it only looks wrong when viewing it upright of mounted to a wall...
  16. EVERYTHING... these models are completely new and not based on the older models at all... also the tech behind it is new... "HD" there's no simple answer that will tell you where to tweak what to get back... if you want to go back flash down to 1.9 and keep rocking... otherwise twist some knobs until it sounds good to you and suits your purposes.
  17. they do make a USA model,.... about 3x the cost of the more common korean ones. (like the one you linked to) here's a link to a USA model: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/JTV89USBK/
  18. I don't know the real answer... but i'm convinced that the underlying HD engine optimizations and the improved pitch shifting etc (evidenced by the 12 strings...) is the source of any improvement...
  19. they aren't going to "fix it" you need to go into workbench and fix it for your own personal taste... or get comfortable with 1.9
  20. no problem at all... i think i have EVERY version of edit on my PC.
  21. you can upload the tones to the variax... doubt you'll find many tones to upload yet... but edit the existing ones, and send them...
  22. you do realize that billions of guitars have been recorded via the analog output and the world still has not been hit by the angry gods asteroid of shame.
